From Army Veteran to Transportation Leader, Pittsburgh Man Wins Taxicab Operator of the Year Award

Sunday, October 14th, 2018

Star Transportation and VETaxi Founder to Be Honored at National Convention in Las Vegas

(ROCKVILLE, Md.)—After returning home from Vietnam, Army veteran Robert DeLucia Sr. learned the cab business in Pittsburgh from the ground up, starting as a driver.

But one thing was different about DeLucia. Starting on his first day of driving, he found out what his clients preferred to drink, such as coffee or tea, and would have it ready for them when he picked them up—and he always dressed in a shirt and tie, of course.

“I’m a veteran. I’ve always dressed well, maintained my vehicles well,” DeLucia said. “That’s how I grew my business, with those service standards. And I maintain them.”

Now, his dedication to excellence will be recognized on the national stage, when DeLucia is named the Taxicab Operator of the Year by the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA), the oldest and largest trade association of its kind in the world.

Starting with one vehicle, a limousine, in 1982, DeLucia’s company flourished over the years by offering consistent service, embracing innovation and, most importantly, continuing to diversify. He incorporated as Star Limousine, and later founded Cranberry Taxi in 1989 and Classy Cab in 2005. DeLucia also offers paratransit, ambulatory and nonambulatory services to veterans, in American-made vehicles driven by veterans, a service called VETaxi.

“Bob embodies that notion of making a good first impression,” said Alfred LaGasse, CEO of the TLPA. “Always impeccably dressed and focused on what he needs to accomplish, he brings that sense of style and focus to his companies every day.”

DeLucia will accept his award in front of hundreds of industry peers at the TLPA’s 100th Annual Convention & Trade Show on Oct. 28 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

ALL SKILL NO LUCK California Combat Hoodie Available for Pre-order

Friday, October 12th, 2018

The long awaited California Combat Hoodie from All Skill No Luck and Gripstop will open for preordering on Friday, October 12th at 0800 Pacific time.

These pullovers are the final result an on going collaboration, first spotted at SHOT show last January. “What initially started out as a sort of fun, one-off project just for the sake of doing it, quickly turned into a legitimate product because of the overwhelming interest and support we received.” Said Nate Murr, inventor of the Gripstop and other popular products manufactured throughout the industry. “When that many people surprised me, with such overwhelming enthusiasm for a modernized Baja hoodie…there was only one company I could think of that could pull this off with quality and style. I cold-called Aaron Russel at ASNL, and asked if he was interested. Aaron laughed and said that he was working on his own version, and that I had beat him to the punch! That wasn’t true, as Aaron had thought of a lot of the great concepts that we rolled into the final design.”

The collaboration started, but the hard part proved to be finding the proper material. There are only a handful of companies that produce the traditional fabric called “Jerga” Baja type garments are made from, and after months of extensively searching, All Skill No Luck located a manufacturer. The California Combat Hoodie is being made in Oceanside California, located just outside of Camp Pendleton. Between the Military and surf culture of SoCal, the team wanted to update the classic Baja hoodie for the 21st century and to appeal to all fans of the legacy design regardless of their walk of life. “Pockets are never a bad idea. Look, men generally don’t carry purses. Carrying a backpack everywhere is annoying. We have a limited amount of pocket space as it is, which is consumed even faster if you carry a gun, spare mags, light, TQ, etc. It doesn’t matter if you CCW or not, you have to carry your gear somehow. The more pockets, the better!” Nate Murr explains. “We wanted to give the garment flexibility for that, regardless of how you intend to wear it. It could be skating in the city, riding your motorcycle, hiking in the woods, trailing a suspect down a busy street, or laying justice down on a cold desert night 7,000 miles from here. It has the features to do it all, and carry it all securely.”

The Features:

-100% authentic, Traditional Jerga fabric and pattern.
-Handwarmer pocket.
-Velcro lined, securable Kangaroo pocket for a 3 cell M4 mag insert.
Pocket can also used to organize and hold other gear, such as a pistol, radio, medkit, etc. when used with other industry common hook-backed pouches.
-Small Anorak style pocket located high center of chest.
-Two sleeve pockets with easy to remove external loop velcro if not using IFF markers
-Generous cut hood for use over other headwear
-Internal loops to attach a concealed cummerbund for carrying heavier loads in the Kangaroo pouch.
-Designed by veterans, Made in America.
-Introductory price of $80.00

Seekins Precision Divorce Statement

Thursday, October 11th, 2018

For Immediate Release (Lewiston, ID)  10.9.2018

After careful and personal reflection as to what is best for their family and company as a whole, Glen and Katie Seekins are formally announcing their separation and divorce.

Though this is a deeply personal matter, in order to deter any rumors or misinformation, they feel it is important for the public and consumers of the Seekins brand to know that things will remain business as usual.

This decision was made privately several months ago and has not in any way affected the day to day operation or production of products.

Glen and Katie have and will continue to run the business as equal partners and all operations will remain status quo.

The Seekins family statement is as follows:

As our followers, friends and family of Seekins Precision, Glen and I feel the need to share a bit of our personal life with you.

We have mutually and lovingly decided it is best to end our marriage.  We continue to be parents first to our two amazing boys, wonderful and supportive friends as we always been and equal business partners in Seekins Precision as a family.

We share this not to elicit opinions but more to minimize rumors, we are both committed to our business and we will continue to run it as the family business as we always have.

Yes, it is a bit unorthodox but we have learned long ago that we have to do what works best for us and not follow in others molds.   It is how we have been successful and will continue to be successful going forward.

Thank you for all your thoughts and support during this transition.

All further information and inquiries regarding this decision or the Seekins Precision brand should be directed through the Leviathan Group at PR@leviathangroupllc.com.
