Dark Angel Medical To Introduce Outdoor Adventure Medical Kits At SHOT Show

Dark Angel Medical, manufacturers of high-quality medical kits and providers of top-tier training in medical response for everyone, have announced that they will be introducing a new line of medical kits geared for the outdoor Adventurer. Equipped with items more focused for the unexpected to take place in the outdoors, the Adventure and Recreation Kit (A.A.R.K.) and the Adventure and Recreation Kit Backpack (A.A.R.K. Pack) will be among many other new items on display at the Dark Angel booth.

A modular kit geared for those who love the outdoors or who just want to be prepared for the unexpected; the A.A.R.K. prepares the carrier for anything from minor scrapes to major trauma. The accessory kit, which comes with every A.A.R.K., includes a SWAT-T, 10’ Mil-Spec Paracord, Signal Mirror, Magnesium Firestarter and a TripleGage Compass/Thermometer/Magnifier.

The A.A.R.K. Pack is a low-vis daypack that can be utilized in virtually any environment. It is the only backpack on the market to have a dedicated, quick open medical pouch designed specifically for A.A.R.K., D.A.R.K. and SLIM pouch inserts, and elastic webbing for a CAT or SOFFT-W.

The pack features a large main compartment, measuring 887.5 cubic inches, fit to hold essential items for any daily adventure; as well as a center zip accessory pocket, equipped with internal admin and organizational pockets, and a concealed holster for your pistol. Made with 500D Cordura® Nylon in Wolf Grey, the pack includes heavy duty zippers, a grab handle for easy carry, sternum strap and a 3L hydration pocket.

Nielsen-Kellerman to Showcase Kestrel Elite Ballistics Weather Meter with Applied Ballistics Software and LiNK at 2017 SHOT Show

Built-in targeting calculator makes handheld weather meter a compact ballistics tool and complete shooting solution

Boothwyn, PA – Nielsen-Kellerman (NK), creators and manufacturers of Kestrel® Ballistics Weather Meters, has announced they will be featuring their Kestrel 5700 Elite Weather Meter with Applied Ballistics and LiNK, among many other innovative and sought-after products, integrations and strategic partnerships at the Kestrel booth (#1946) at the 2017 SHOT Show in Las Vegas.

The Kestrel Elite takes the guesswork out of long-range shooting, even out to the transonic and subsonic flight range of your bullet. This next-generation integrated weather meter and ballistics calculator provides shooters with up-to-the-minute accurate wind speed and air density measurements combined with the full functionality of the highly regarded Applied Ballistics® solver engine and manufacturer-specific bullet flight model database. All this power is packed into a small four-ounce, rugged instrument that is easy to carry and use and proven through years of tough strategic use.

The Kestrel Elite is available with optional LiNK connectivity powered by Bluetooth low energy, which provides you with the power of the free Kestrel LiNK Ballistics app. The app allows shooters to build and manage gun/bullet profiles and download them to the Kestrel 5700 Elite; in addition to providing the extensive Litz library of custom bullet drag models for the most precise transonic and subsonic range solutions available anywhere.

LiNK enabled units can also be paired with LiNK compatible laser range finders, like the Safran Vectronix PLRF25C which offers snipers/spotters, marksmen and forward observers the smallest and most powerful MIL-SPEC Laser Range Finder on the market today. The ergonomic design of the Vectronix PLRF25C allows for one-handed use, with the one-button operation being intuitive and easy-to-learn. Ranging measurements up to 6,000m, as well as accurate angle measurements, are no problem for the compact (measuring only 131x88x55mm), and lightweight (430g) rangefinder. The PLRF25C features 6x magnification capability and is tactically proven in the most demanding environments.

The Kestrel Elite is also offered as a package with the Bushnell Elite 1 Mile CONX Laser Rangefinder. The two products work seamlessly together; with each target range data being transmitted to the paired Kestrel for instant calculation of an elevation hold. The data is then sent to the Kestrel and handed back to the rangefinder for display in the viewfinder. The Bushnell Elite 1 Mile CONX is accurate against reflective targets up to 1,760 yards and sends both inclination angle and range data to the Kestrel Elite for accurate high angle shots.

Arc’teryx LEAF 2017 Line Pre-SHOT Show Sneak Peek

Here’s a sneak peek at the 2017 Arc’teryx LEAF line which will be fully unveiled during SHOT Show 2017, January 17-20 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Overall, you’re going to see expanded offering of Ranger Green, redesigned Load Carriage and new Garments. What you’ll see here is just an overview. We’ll be offering additional details soon.

Combat Uniform

LEAF is hard to round out their Combat Uniform offerings which started with the AR and FR series, followed by the Assault Coverall AR and FR. Now, they’re introducing the Assault Shirt and Pant as well as Recce Shirt LT for Hot Weather use. Lightweight, breathable, and fast drying, the Combat Uniform LT is made from Katana fabric by WL Gore & Assoc along with Tweave 520E and Cyberknit mesh. It’s not a jungle or arid uniform, but rather intended for wear in either environment.

You’ll note several new features including a zipper on the front of the Recce Shirt LT to get it closed up when you need to keep the bugs out. This can be removed by the wearer, if not needed. They’ve also considered both drainage and ventilation in the design.

Baselayer

The new Baselayer items are made from a Corespun Merino Wool which makes them stronger. The material was brought over from the outdoor line but the designs are LEAF, with a more generous cut than the outdoor line, and LEAF colors of Black and Crocodile.  I wore a set during a recent visit to Vancouver and they were comfy during the recent cold snap.  


Hardshell

What most people don’t know is that prior to this year, the Alpha and Alpha LT used different Gore-Tex fabrics depending on whether they were solid colors or MultiCam print. This year, that’s been rectified with the Alpha utilizing the WL Gore & Assoc, BD450 3L 40D Nylon Ripstop and the Alpha LT is made from L&F 3L 30D Nylon Plain Weave fabric from Gore. Previously, those fabrics were only used in the MultiCam versions of the clothing. Now, it’s all the same. These are literally the highest end Gore-Tex fabrics used by Arc’teryx. Look for Ranger Green this year as well as the other flagship colors.

The Alpha line consists of Jacket, Pant and Bib while the Alpha LT is just the Jacket and Bib.

Load Carriage

The big story here is a reboot of the Khard. Over the past few years, LEAF has named products based on what they do and the Assault Pack is a classic example. The Assault Pack is more refinement of the Khard than a completely new model and is still offered in 30 and 45 liter models. Many of the changes are in the lid with the zippered poxket on the inside removed and the outer zippered pocket given a flap and made slightly smaller so that the contents won’t fall down and pool at the bottom of the pocket.

The Assault Pack’s backpanel was also redesigned to make it more compatible with PPE. Having worn the new Assault Pack 45 for the past month, it still offers a comfortable carry while not wearing armor. In fact, the removable waist strap for both sizes was a welcome addition along with the thicker shoulder pads for both 30 and 45 liter models. Additionally, it’s now available in Black as well as Coyote and Wolf. The Khard 60 remins as-is in the line as a specialist item, although no Black color offering.

Finally, Arc’teryx LEAF is officially launching the DryPack 25 which we previewed last Summer. This is going to be very popular due to its size and price. Available in MultiCam it’s made from a 725D laminate with full seam taping and a T-handle waterproof zipper. They’ve also incorporated an inflation tube for swimming and diving operations.

Xfunctional Equipment

The popular Xfunctional Pant AR is now offered in Harrier which is a Grey color which joins Greenstone and Terra. Remember, these don’t sport the standard LEAF color palette because they are intended for more low profile wear rather part of a uniform system.

On a side note, although part of the outdoor line, the BAC will also be available starting this month in additional colors.

Availability
Look for an updated LEAF website from Arc’teryx on 11 January as well as LEAF dealers for orders of these new products. Everything will be available for sale this first quarter of the year with the exception of the Combat Uniform LT and the DryPack 25 which will be offered in the second quarter.
