FN M249S Now Available in Both PARA and Standard Configurations

Monday, January 17th, 2022

(McLean, VA – January 17, 2022) FN America, LLC is pleased to announce that the FN M249S® semi-automatic belt-fed rifle is now available to order in both the Paratrooper, or PARA, and Standard configuration. After a manufacturing hiatus, these new rifles are now in production and available for order.

“Since it was introduced, the FN M249S has outpaced our expectations in terms of customer interest and sales,” remarked Chris Cole, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for FN America, LLC. “After a hiatus in manufacturing to focus on other core FN products, we are extremely excited to make these available to our customers and loyal brand fans again. We are expecting new inventory to be readily available at retailers by the spring.”

The FN M249S semi-automatic belt-fed is part of the FN Military Collector Series, introduced in 2015 to bring to market classic interpretations of the firearms that FN designed and sold to the U.S. military. The line also includes the FN Military Collector M4 and M16, semi-automatic versions of the military’s M4A1 and M16A4.

The closed-bolt FN M249S Standard is the classic FN M249 SAW configuration with an 18.5-inch cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined barrel made from FN’s proprietary steel with quick-change capabilities, an ergonomic polymer buttstock with hydraulic recoil buffer, crossbolt safety and feeds from a disintegrating M27 linked ammunition belt. The Paratrooper model, or PARA for short, is the compact configuration of the M249 SAW and features a shortened 16.5-inch barrel along with a telescoping and collapsing buttstock.

See the FN M249S series on display at the 2022 NSSF SHOT Show at the FN Booth (#11860) January 18-21, 2022, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center or visit fnamerica.com for more information.

Magpul FDP/FDC Update

Friday, January 14th, 2022

It’s been a year since we announced the FDP/FDC Magpul is building in conjunction with ZEV Technologies.

With roots in the FMG9 project of over decade ago, the new FDP/FDC Pistol and Carbine variants have undergone engineering improvements and ATF review. Back in 2008, the Folding Machine Gun was originally envisioned as a 9mm, Glock-based sub gun, envisioned as a transforming firearm that would snap into action at the push of a button. As you can see, the ZEV collaboration brings the OZ9 into the equation.

Maztech x Magpul Partner to Present the X4-FCS

Friday, January 14th, 2022

With a week of awesome new products from Magpul, this one was the most surprising and offers biggest chance at being a game changer.

The Army has long indicated their desire for a Round Counter capability to inform both the shooter and others an idea of how many rounds they have in their weapon as well as data on how many rounds the weapon has fired for maintenance. The X4-FCS does that and so much more.

Designed in conjunction with Maztech Industries, the X4-FCS is an appliqué for your existing LPVO, transforming it into a smart optic.

The system takes multiple independent inputs from around the firearm and fuses the data to communicate with the shooter (and others if needed) to build situational awareness on the target area and weapon status. The system provides powered or unpowered magazine awareness with data sent to multiple displays.

It offers a secure communications capability with Bluetooth, Near Field Communication and Ultra Wideband systems.

They aren’t stopping here. They anticipate other systems on the X4 roadmap integrate into the FCS to provide selectable inputs, ranging and target illumination, and shooter enhanced visual awareness.

The X4-FCS promises to do provide most, if not all of the capability of the recently selected Next Generation Squad Weapon – Fire Control except this can be used in conjunction with existing optics.

The photos shared here are of a developmental system and what Magpul shows at SHOT Show next week isn’t even the final product.

(McLean, VA – January 14, 2022) FN America, LLC announces the mandatory recall of all FN M249S® semi-automatic, belt-fed rifles sold before January 1, 2022. An identified issue from a component in the FN M249S fire control group may adversely affect the rifle’s standard operation, and under certain circumstances, a reset failure within the hammer group may cause an unsafe firing event. To correct this condition and restore consistent and safe operation of the firearm’s fire control group, it is necessary for FN to replace specific components in all FN M249S rifles.

FN is instructing customers to discontinue use of these rifles immediately and return affected products to FN directly for installation of new components, at no expense to its owner.

All FN M249S serial numbers sold before January 1, 2022, are affected by this recall. Therefore, FN M249S owners are asked to please visit the FN M249S Safety Recall webpage and input their serial number for detailed instructions on returning the FN M249S for service.

Note: Please do not ship any affected product to FN until a shipping label has been generated by FN and sent to you. In the interim, FN asks that customers not operate their FN M249S until FN has made the necessary repairs to your rifle.

FN is deeply committed to providing customers with the safest, most reliable firearms possible. As such, it is imperative that all recalled product is received back as soon as possible. Patience and cooperation are appreciated as we receive, inspect and service these firearms for a direct return to you. We will make every effort to return the rifles within 30 days of receipt at FN.

B&T USA Introduces All-New SPC9 Series

Thursday, January 13th, 2022

Tampa, FL (January 13, 2022) – B&T USA is excited to introduce its all-new SPC9-series. Born from a European tender requesting a 9mm carbine with the same handling characteristics and ergonomics as the AR platform; the all-new SPC9 incorporates many of the features found on the B&T APC9, MP5 and
AR platforms combined into one, very versatile platform. Lightweight and reliable, well balanced and accurate, safe and modular — the SPC9 checks all the boxes and is one of the lightest recoiling 9mm carbines available, thanks to B&T’s innovative and effective hydraulic buffer system.

“As is the case with virtually every product B&T develops, the SPC9 was created because a professional entity asked us to do it” said Jon Scott, Vice President of Sales, B&T USA. “B&T developed the SPC9-series at the request of a European Police Unit, who immediately adopted it in large numbers. Since that time, several variants have been developed to meet other needs and B&T USA will be offering five variations, to start. Those are inclusive of a 4.5-inch barreled PDW, integrally suppressed PDW-SD, 9-inch Standard, integrally suppressed Standard SD and a 16-inch carbine slated for later in the year.”

Some of the features found on the SPC9 are time proven while others are state-of-the-art and modern. One of the unique features of SPC9-series is that it is equipped with two different charging handle systems. One of these is the handle found on AR platforms, while the other is a non-reciprocating, foldable charging handle located above the barrel. This gives the user the choice to use whatever manual of arms that is preferred; both systems are ambidextrous.
