AV Expands Huntsville Facility to Accelerate Production of Next-Generation Freedom Eagle-1 Interceptor

May 29th, 2026

Facility expansion positions AV to scale production, accelerate fielding, and provide cost-effective defense against mass aerial threats

ARLINGTON, Va., May 26, 2026 – AeroVironment, Inc. (“AV”) (NASDAQ: AVAV), a global defense technology leader, today announced an additional government investment of $20.2 million in AV’s Huntsville, Alabama facility to increase quantities of Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and accelerate future Full-Rate Production (FRP) of the Next-Generation Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System Missile (NGCM), known as Freedom Eagle-1 (FE-1).

The expanded site will serve as the system-level integration, manufacturing, and production hub for FE-1, enabling rapid scale-up of interceptor production and accelerated delivery timelines to meet urgent U.S. Army and Combatant Command operational needs.

The 24,000-square-foot expansion and associated job growth in Huntsville reflect AV’s continued investment in meeting evolving national security demands for subsonic missiles while strengthening cost-effective production capacity, driving innovation, and supporting on-time delivery.

“Growing our presence in Huntsville places AV more firmly at the center of the Army’s air and missile defense ecosystem, enabling tighter integration, faster iteration, and more efficient production at scale,” said Wahid Nawabi, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer at AV. “That proximity is critical as we begin production of Freedom Eagle-1, a system designed to deliver a scalable, cost-effective response to increasingly complex and high-volume aerial threats.”

The investment builds on AV’s recent selection and $95.9 million contract award under the U.S. Army’s NGCM and Long-Range Kinetic Interceptor (LRKI) programs, executed through the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center (CCDC AvMC) and the Aviation & Missile Technology Consortium (AMTC), and marks the next phase in transitioning Freedom Eagle-1 from development to scaled production and operational fielding.

In March, AV announced a $97 million contract to design and integrate prototype test environments for next-generation missile defense sensor testing at Redstone Arsenal — a Huntsville-based federal center that is home to more than 70 organizations, including NASA, the FBI, Missile Defense Agency, Army Program Acquisition Executive Fires, and the future U.S. Space Command headquarters.

“This expansion is a critical step in scaling production of Freedom Eagle-1 and accelerating its delivery to the field,” said Jimmy Jenkins, Executive Vice President of AV’s Precision Strike and Defense Systems Group. “By increasing manufacturing capacity, strengthening integration, and enabling production at volume, we’re delivering a cost-effective interceptor designed to counter increasingly complex and high-volume aerial threats.”

Freedom Eagle-1 is designed to address these challenges with a combination of performance and affordability. The system is a low-cost, high-performance interceptor capable of neutralizing Groups 2 and 3 UAS while maintaining residual capability against Group 1 UAS, fixed-wing, and rotary-wing aircraft, with increased lethality, extended range, and rapid launch capabilities.

The system has achieved several key development milestones, including a successful live-fire demonstration of its dual-thrust solid rocket motor, controlled test vehicle launches, and warhead testing, demonstrating technical maturity and reduced risk as the program transitions toward field deployment.

“As the nation’s defense and security demands increase, it is crucial that we meet capability needs, and there is no better place for AV’s expansion as Alabama continues to lead in defense manufacturing and innovation,” said Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04).

The expansion in Huntsville also reflects AV’s broader strategy to scale domestic manufacturing capacity, following a recent announcement of a $30 million expansion of its Albuquerque, New Mexico campus, a move that is expected to generate more than $670 million in economic impact over the next decade, create more than 450 high-wage jobs, and boost production of mission-critical defense and space technologies.

May 29th, 2026

You likely know ASP for their famous extendable impact batons but they offer a wide range of capabilities to Law Enforcement. One of their latest products is Defender Decon, a cleanser specifically formulated to speed relief and recovery from OC exposure.

This formula which lifts the residue OC leaves behind can reduce recovery from OC exposure to as little as 10-25 minutes. Plus, you don’t have to go seek out soap and water.

The product is available in a compact canister (the same size as a MK-4 OC can) or a 32 oz. sprayer. There’s also a Defender Decon Patrol Kit, which includes two of the MK-4 size canisters, nitrile gloves, soft paper towels and a laminated procedure card, all in a durable, zippered storage case (storage case color may vary).

ASP products, including Defender Decon, are available for agency purchase in Canada from Rampart Corp and in the US via Rampart USA.

Already in limited service with the Canadian Armed Forces, it has replaced the M203. This side opener features a double action trigger allowing the shooter to immediately mitigate a misfire without opening the breech to re-cock the weapon.

It features fully ambitious controls and the barrel can be configured to open to the left or the right.

Ghost Robotics Exhibits Production Manipulator Arm for Vision 60 QUGV

May 29th, 2026

Just a year ago I showed you the new Manipulator Arm accessory for the Vision 60 Quadraped Unmanned Ground Vehicle which is often referred to as a “Robotic Dog.” During this week’s visit to Canada I ran across an updated version.

The version I originally showed you was a production prototype and in the ensuing year Ghost Robotics has made a couple of small improvements and transitioned into serial production. According to company representatives, most of what is happening now are software improvements.

As before, the Arm offers seamless integration with 6 Degrees of Freedom and will extend up to 1 meter. Despite 25 lbs of gripping force, with cameras in the pincers and force feedback, it won’t crush what it’s holding unless you want it crushed.

In Canada, Ghost Robotics systems are available through Millbrook Tactical.

District of Columbia National Guard unveils Freedom 250 patch

May 29th, 2026

WASHINGTON — District of Columbia National Guard leaders introduced a new assignment patch, honoring America’s 250th birthday and recognizing the National Guard’s support of key events in the nation’s capital.

The historic, once-in-a-generation opportunity to serve reflects the United States’ grounding principles while also reinforcing partnerships with local and federal authorities.

The patch features the Betsy Ross flag, with stars encircling the number 250 in place of the traditional 13 stars. Service members began wearing the patch Memorial Day weekend.

The top of the patch reads, “District of Columbia National Guard,” identifying the soldiers’ assignment area, and the bottom features the District of Columbia National Guard mission statement: “Protect the Capital – Defend the Nation.”

The Freedom 250 patch will be worn on the left shoulder of D.C. National Guard and members of Joint Task Force District of Columbia who are supporting the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission.

Special events in Washington will commemorate the American colonists’ fight for freedom against Great Britain during the Revolutionary War, beginning with the establishment of the Continental Army, June 14, 1775, and concluding with the signing of the Treaty of Paris, Sept. 3, 1783, which formally recognized American independence and marked the end of the war.

Freedom 250 events highlight significant milestones and the enduring spirit of the nation.

National Guardsmen from various states and territories will provide command and control, foot patrols, crowd management and traffic control operations, way-finding assistance for visitors, as well as law enforcement partners with street closures. The goal is to support a safe, secure and navigable environment for attendees while serving as a vital asset to federal and local partners supporting Freedom 250 events throughout the nation’s capital.

P320 Case Dismissed in Massachusetts Federal Court

May 28th, 2026

On the heels of Colorado court dismissal, Massachusetts plaintiff voluntarily withdraws federal case after SIG SAUER shows the firearm cannot discharge without a trigger pull

NEWINGTON, N.H., (May 28, 2026) – SIG SAUER, an industry-leading manufacturer of cutting-edge firearms, optics, and ammunition, announced today that after nearly five years of litigation the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts officially entered an Order on May 28, 2026, dismissing with prejudice the Ahern v. Sig Sauer Inc. case. The plaintiff, Mr. Thomas Ahern, abandoned his claims on the eve of trial and after years of discovery with SIG SAUER again establishing that the P320 could not discharge without a trigger pull. The case was dismissed without any settlement or payment.

“We’re pleased with this voluntary dismissal. It is further recognition of SIG SAUER showing the P320 cannot discharge without a trigger pull, as established by SIG SAUER testing and multiple independent third-party analysis, including in this case testing conducted by the Boston Police Department Firearms Analysis Unit,” said Aloke Chakravarty, counsel for SIG SAUER. “This outcome marks SIG SAUER’s nearly 20th case dismissal to date, and we are proud to continue to defend the P320 and the industry-leading technology behind it.”

The plaintiff initially claimed the P320, issued by his then-employer, Cambridge Police Department, discharged in his hand without a trigger pull when he pulled it out of his security holster in an enclosed van on May 19, 2019, surrounded by numerous fellow officers. The Cambridge Police Department investigated the incident and determined that Mr. Ahern’s handling of the weapon violated numerous departmental rules and caused the gun to discharge in the rear of the van.

The Cambridge Police Department also sent the P320 to the Boston Police Department’s Firearms Analysis Unit as part of its investigation. Its testing of the P320 led to the conclusion that “based on functional tests and test firing, [the SIG P320 pistol] is NOT susceptible to an accidental discharge.” (capitalization emphasis included in the official report).

The P320 is among the most tested, proven, and successful handguns in the world. It is an innovative striker-fired pistol which has been selected as the handgun of choice following rigorous testing by the U.S. military and a number of other countries, including Canada, Switzerland, and Australia, as well as by elite law enforcement and federal agencies. It cannot under any circumstance discharge without a trigger pull—a fact which has repeatedly been verified through testing by SIG SAUER, handgun experts (including plaintiff’s experts), and independent labs.

On May 26, 2026, SIG SAUER announced another P320 case dismissal from Colorado federal court. For more information and accurate facts about the P320, please visit www.sigsauer.com/p320-truth.
