HENSOLDT Successfully Demonstrates UAV Countermeasures
December 6th, 2017Hamburg, 6 December 2017 – As part of a major product demonstration on the Airbus airfield in Hamburg-Finkenwerder, HENSOLDT, the leading independent sensor house, provided proof of the excellent performance of its Xpeller counter-UAV system when it comes to protecting airports and critical infrastructure.
HENSOLDT demonstrated counter-UAV measures using a combination of radar, RF and optical sensors and a targeted jammer to representatives from the police, industrial companies, airport operators and armed forces. For this, the individual elements of the system were positioned in such a way as to ensure optimum surveillance of the whole area. This involved seamlessly integrating Xpeller into the airfield’s infrastructure and proving its compatibility with all the other local systems. Xpeller also managed to reliably detect UAVs starting from different locations. The visitors considered it to be a particular success that the HENSOLDT system was able to reliably detect even extremely small UAVs at a distance of several kilometres and to identify them as threats.
The modular Xpeller product family includes various sensors such as radar, camera and radio frequency detectors as well as direction finders and jammers. Xpeller uses sensors to detect and identify a drone and assess its threat potential at ranges from a few hundred metres up to several kilometres. Based on real-time analyses of the control signals, a jammer then interrupts the link between drone and pilot or interferes with its navigation. The modular Xpeller system concept relies on the selection of individual devices from the product family depending on customer requirements and local conditions.

Sneak Peek – Dyneema Tegris Kit System “Ripper” by Honorpoint USA

Manufactured from Tegris and Dyneema fabric, the DTKS Ripper plate carrier weighs less than a pound without plates.
The carrier is assembled via a combination of sewing and rivets, which are discernible in the photos. Plates are inserted from the top.
In addition to PALS compatible 30 round ammo pouches, there is also a pouch for the AN/PRC-152 radio. Despite incorporating a bungee system, the construction of the pouch provides magazine retention.
A carrier made solely from Dyneema fabric as well as a chest rig have also been developed.

High Angle Solutions – Montane Tactical Clothing
December 6th, 2017Thanks to a great meeting with Brigantes Consulting at DSEI, the High Angle Solutions series is back!
Montane, one of the UK’s leading outdoor clothing brands, is launching a tactical range for February 2018. Focused on a technical European outdoor fit the range will cover all layers and will be based on the award winning designs of Montane. The product team has worked closely with the military specialists at Brigantes to combine decades of experience in both technical garments and expeditionary warfare to provide a focused range that is intended to be used for long range light role operations.

Meopta Introduces the New MeoNight 1.1 Night Vision Device
December 6th, 2017TAMPA, FL, December 4, 2017 – Meopta’s new MeoNight 1.1 night vision device can be used as a night vision monocular for stand-alone viewing or used with a riflescope to adapt it for nighttime use. The MeoNight 1.1 features premium quality optics, 1x magnification and is also available with an optional 3x magnifying module booster.
The MeoNight is capable of target detection out to 600 meters and automatically shuts off if unused for one hour. This night vision device also features an external brightness control for easy adjustment of image intensity.
When used with a traditional daytime riflescope, the MeoNight is placed in front of the riflescope using Meopta’s quick-release NAR (MIL-STD 1913) mount or it can be mounted directly onto the objective of the riflescope with Meopta’s custom adapter for 42mm, 50mm or 56mm objective lenses. The MeoNight comes with a remote-control cable that can be attached to the stock of the rifle allowing the user to adjust image brightness without moving the finger from the trigger.
The MeoNight is waterproof, shock resistant and fogproof. Accessories include the battery, Allen keys, protector, sleeve, eyepiece eyecup, remote control, an additional Picatinny rail, bag and grip/hand strap.
