December 31st, 2012Finally, something we can all sink our teeth into. This Trail Bar recipe comes from Hill People Gear. These folks don’t just create awesome backcountry living systems but they live the lifestyle that spawns their gear. Here’s the recipe:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In one bowl, thoroughly mix the following ingredients:
2 cups of oats
1 cup of dried fruit (craisins, for example)
1 cup of sunflower seeds
1/2 cup of chocolate chips
2 scoops of whey protein powder
In a second bowl, thoroughly mix the following ingredients:
1/2 cup of honey
1/2 cup of peanut butter
2 eggs
Thoroughly mix the contents of the two bowls together
Grease an 8×8 baking pan and press the mixture into the pan
Let sit 10 minutes
Place in the oven and cook for 20 minutes
Let cool and cut into squares or rectangles or whatever suits your fancy
They’ll keep for at least a couple of weeks, and will do their job keeping you on the trail.

I came out of box A before shooting the steel and had to back up and came off the second to last steel before I broke the shot and had to re-address it but other than that I was happy with the run. That BCM lightweight 16″ mid-length with FSC556, A5 buffer and Geissele S3GE is an awesome speed gun. It’s just downright fast. Almost zero recoil and shot-to-shot and tgt-to-tgt splits are phenomenal.

“The Cave” from HEIMPLANET
December 30th, 2012“The Cave” from UK-based HEIMPLANET is an inflatable shelter.
This 3 person tent does in fact boast a fly but as the frame is inflated and then the shelter itself along with the fly hangs inside the frame, the construction is a little different than what you might be used to.
At 11.9 lbs it isn’t exactly a lightweight tent but the concept is definitely interesting. There are in fact other airframe shelters on the market such as from NEMO Equipment but it’s great to see more companies getting into this business.
