Steadicopter to Present Comprehensive Sensor-to-Shooter Solution Capabilities for Maneuvering Forces Utilizing its Unmanned Helicopters Systems

October 7th, 2023

With both the Golden Eagle and the Black Eagle, forces can achieve remote terrain dominance and pinpoint accurate lethal capability over land and sea.

AUSA 2023, 9-11 October, Washington DC, Hall C Stand 3625

04 October 2023. Steadicopter, a leader in the Rotary Unmanned Aerial Systems (RUAS) industry, to present, for the first time in the US a comprehensive sensor-to-shooter solution capabilities based on its RUAV platforms: the Golden Eagle with precise strike capabilities and the Black Eagle family for accurate ISR operations.

Based on the combat-proven Black Eagle 50 Electric platform, the Golden Eagle incorporates AI-based technology, and a uniquely Airborne Remotely Control Weapon System (ARCWS). AI-based technology enhances situational awareness and enables autonomous multi-target classification and tracking, while the ARCWS locks on the target, tracks it, and ensures precise target engagement.

The Golden Eagle integrates the Smartshooter’s SMASH Dragon system – A unique stabilization concept with proprietary target acquisition, tracking algorithms and sophisticated computer vision capabilities that allow accurate hitting of static and moving targets. The system can utilize various types of weapons such as 5.56 – 7.62mm rifles, sniper rifles, 40mm grenade launches and others, providing tactical maneuvering forces with remote terrain dominance and pinpoint lethal accuracy.

Using advanced data processing, the AI system autonomously identifies and distinguishes between different types of targets, including individuals and vehicles, whether they are in motion or stationary. It can also determine if they have been previously present in the field.

Lightweight and thereby enabling long mission endurance, the Golden Eagle is extremely cost-effective, simple to operate, and easy to maintain.

The Black Eagle 50 (BE50) is a true game-changer for uncrewed operations, providing forces with the most cost-effective, superior-high-quality real-time ISR solution, over land and maritime domains, by enabling a unique combination of impressive covert flight endurance and an exceptionally versatile sensor suite. With its open architecture modular design, the BE50 accommodates the latest mission payloads, such as EO/IR, SAR, Maritime Patrol Radar (MPR), SIGINT, AIS receiver, tactical communication relay, cargo delivery and more.

With a near-to-zero operational, maintenance & logistic footprint, the BE50H provides wide-area persistent surveillance and coverage for long durations and has all the advantages of the rotary-UAS, such as persistent hovering, enabling additional concepts of operations for many mission applications.

Both systems withstand harsher weather conditions and can carry and fly with heavy and asymmetric payloads.

“Steadicopter is proud to introduce, for the first time in the United States, its advanced tactical unmanned helicopter platforms for precision sensor-to-shooter operation, with minimal collateral damage”, says Noam Lidor, VP Sales, Marketing & Business Development at Steadicopter.

“The company is a supplier of systems and services for the IDF and the Israeli Navy as well as for other customers around the world. We are eager to foster partnerships with various defense and HLS organizations in the United States as our systems are equipped with technologies tailored to the requirements of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, SOCOM and HLS users.”

Information Operations Creates Global Reach

October 7th, 2023

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas —

Integrated deterrence starts at the lowest level and at 16th Air Force’s (AFCYBER) 67th Cyberspace Wing A39, the Information Operations team is making a global impact at their level.

The IO team supports real-world operations, reach back, exercises and operations security.

“We are the only Air Force and Space Force OPSEC Support Team,” said Tyrese Stafford, 67th CW, A39 IO chief. “We are the ‘operational arm’ supporting units worldwide.”

As the two services’ OST, they are responsible for OPSEC Management Assessments and OPSEC External Assessments traveling around the world assisting organizations to achieve a more effective OPSEC program, while also testing units for vulnerabilities and their ability to mitigate them.

“This past year, our OST has assisted and evaluated over dozens of wings and deltas all over the world from the 100th Air Refueling Wing at RAF Mildenhall, England, to the 31st Fighter Wing at Aviano Air Base, Italy,” said Stafford. “Additionally, the OST conducted a multi-year, Air Force-wide OPSEC External Assessment to understand the Air Force’s ability to protect sensitive aircraft deployments.”

Once the team identifies any vulnerabilities, they incorporate them into exercises to test the units again and integrate lessons learned.

One such exercise is Air Force Special Operations Command’s Emerald Warrior, where the IO team applies these lessons learned from real-world operations to deliver trained and ready joint forces.

From Sept. 11-15, 2023, the IO team was leading the white “fusion” cell team that replicated a Theater Special Operation Command J39 and adjacent Joint Task Force along with other Information Warfare forces from space, cyber and public affairs.

The white fusion cell provides realistic and relevant training for personal recovery, humanitarian support and direct action missions to prepare headquarter special operations staff for an evolving strategic environment.

“The team trained the joint force on ISIO, Intelligence Support to Information Operations, making the exercise more information focused,” said Stafford. “The force is taught whether to reveal or conceal information depending on the objective and the adversary’s physical means.”

The ISIO training was first introduced at the 16th annual Emerald Warrior exercise in March 2023, to further synchronize information capabilities across cyber, space and public affairs, and prime AFSOC’s Special Operations Task Group (Expeditionary Group) and Special Operations Task Unit (Expeditionary Squadron) commanders when deployed.

For the past three years and four iterations, the IO team has supported Emerald Warrior exercises with exercise design, integration of military information support operations, OPSEC and military deception.

They have provided over 150 years of their combined experience and expertise in IO, which is why their unit trains the Air Force’s 14F Information Operations officers.

“We train continuously from the time we’re on board at the A39,” said U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Conner Anderson, 67th CW, OPSEC branch chief. “I’ve learned joint planning principles and the application if IO from the tactical to the operational level.”

Since 2013, over 20 IO officers have been trained at the 67th CW A39 with follow on assignments with Pacific Air Forces, 16th Air Force to Joint Task Forces under U.S. European Command, U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Central Command.

“Our IO officers go out into the force equipped to protect Air Force assets and operations,” said Stafford. “They also know, they can reach back to us anytime for support, even the IO officers we trained at Emerald Warrior.”

Through its mission, the IO team has created a global reach leveraging IW capabilities and achieving an information advantage across the competition continuum.

Evergreen to sell company’s quantum security products in anticipation of Y2Q

TIMNITH, Colo.– Evergreen Innovations LLC (“Evergreen”), a tactical communications integrator, announced today that the company has formed a strategic partnership with Quantropi, a Canadian provider of quantum security products.

Evergreen Innovations will act as Quantropi’s official American distributor to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), streamlining the process by which the U.S. military purchases cutting-edge encryption technology.

“We are excited to be collaborating with Quantropi,” said Chris Wallower, CEO of Evergreen. “The encryption products they offer will keep the DoD ahead Y2Q.”

Y2Q, sometimes called “Q-Day,” is that future point in time when quantum computers would have advanced so far that they will be able to defeat the public-key encryption systems that keep military and civilian communications private and secure.

When that happens, all bets are off, Wallower notes.

To its credit, the U.S. government has been tracking the Y2Q problem. The Biden Administration, for example, signed into law H.R. 7535: Quantum Computing Cybersecurity Preparedness Act in 2022.

But new novel attacks leveraging AI and Machine Learning have greatly compressed the timeline to Y2Q.

“The DoD knows this day is coming, and they’ve been preparing for it,” said James Nguyen, CEO of Quantropi. “Unfortunately, technology doesn’t advance in a slow, linear fashion. It can sometimes make very rapid advances. Most of the focus has been on upgrading asymmetric encryption, but for optimal security, symmetric encryption and quantum random number generation need to be addressed as well.”

The Quantropi QiSpace™ platform offers a complete set of cryptographic capabilities that have distinct security and performance advantages. The solutions are:

• MASQ™: an asymmetric cryptographic suite that supports NIST-standard and novel Quantropi post-quantum algorithms for both key exchange and digital signature;

• QEEP™: a quantum secure symmetric algorithm that is up to 18 times faster than AES-256 with no performance degradation for keys up to 400 times larger; and

• SEQUR™: a scalable, high-performance SaaS solution for quantum random number generation and distribution to endpoints over existing network infrastructures.

“We are eager to have Evergreen introduce our post-quantum solutions to the DoD,” Nguyen said. “We understand that people can be wary of bold technological promises. That’s why we welcome rigorous military testing. We are confident that QiSpace™ can provide quantum security for a wide range of DoD use cases.”

SOG Knives – BAR15T Tanto Bayonet

October 6th, 2023

There just aren’t a lot of bayonets on the market so when a new one pops up, I’ve got to mention it. Meet the BAR15T Tanto Bayonet from SOG Knives.

It features a 7-inch Tanto-shaped blade made from AUS-8 steel and G10 grip. It weighs 19.2 ounces and has an overall length of 12.2 inches. Fitted with an AR-compatible barrel ring it should fit rifles with Mil-Spec muzzle devices.

However, your rifle will also need a bayonet lug which is integral to the base of a Mil-Spec rifle’s Front Sight Post but isn’t generally found on those without the sight triangle. Your rifle will also require sufficient barrel space to accommodate the length of the bayonet handle, between the ring and attachment.

If you find yourself in this situation but just have to have that bayonet, you might check out the bayonet lug from Cogburn Arsenal. I’m sure there are a few other options out there as well.

Finally, it naturally comes with a sheath.

SOFWERX x Program Executive Office-Rotary Wing (PEO-RW) Collaboration Event (CE)

October 6th, 2023

SOFWERX, in collaboration with USSOCOM Program Executive Office – Rotary Wing (PEO-RW) and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) will host a Collaboration Event on 04 December, 2023, to explore how technology can be leveraged to achieve improved maintenance outcomes by increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance personnel.

The 160th SOAR currently provides its maintenance personnel a technical manual that is, at its core, a legacy paper maintenance manual converted to a PDF. The manual is inflexible, difficult to change, and often lags months or years behind the “current operational truth.” Soldiers currently can only access the technical manual through heavy, cumbersome laptop computers or are forced to print work packages for work on the aircraft. As the Regiment emerges from 20 years of sustained combat operations, the well of combat experience has begun to run dry. As the average experience level of the organization decreases, the complexity faced by the maintenance enterprise continues to increase. New technology, rapid fielding, and diverging fleet configuration present a robust challenge to the enterprise. Maintenance, in accordance with the technical manual, is the cornerstone of a successful maintenance program. As the Regiment’s maintenance apparatus negotiates these dual challenges of decreasing experience and increasing complexity, the need to re-examine this foundational technology becomes readily apparent.

The command seeks to identify software and hardware solutions to provide maintenance personnel increased access to technical information. Potential solutions may include augmented reality and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) knowledge management tools to achieve improved maintenance outcomes at the user level.
