Leading Global Eyewear Manufacturer Bollé Safety Launches New Bollé Safety Standard Issue Tactical Eyewear Brand Featuring Eyewear from Jade Struck

Bollé Safety, the world-renowned leading manufacturer of safety glasses and goggles, has announced the rebranding of its Bollé Tactical division to become Bollé Safety Standard Issue.  The new Bollé Safety Standard Issue features a range of products designed to offer unparalleled eye protection for tactical professions including law enforcement, first responders, firefighters, EMS, military and special forces, as well as shooting enthusiasts and hunters. The division’s mission is focused on the development of ballistic and protective eyewear while concentrating on improved comfort, style, and safety, giving tactical customers the competitive advantage they need to do their job in the safest way possible.

As part of the launch of this new brand, Bollé Safety Standard Issue has worked with Jade Struck, the competitive shooter, firearms instructor, model and actress, to create a pair of custom tactical glasses called The SENTINEL STRUCK. “As a firearms instructor, safety is my top priority, so I believe that all gear plays an important role, but I believe that eye protection is the most important,” said Struck. “A great pair of safety glasses shouldn’t just protect your eyes, but should also help you perform to the best of your abilities, so that’s what I’m hoping we’re bringing to the table with the SENTINEL STRUCK.” Certified to MIL-PRF-32432 A and ANSI Z87.1 safety standards to ensure maximum protection, these ballistic sunglasses are specifically tailored for the active woman who partakes in shooting, and other outdoor activities.

Jankel Achieves Preliminary Technical Acceptance (PTA) with Belgium MoD and Enters into Production with their LTTV

Jankel, a world-leader in the design and manufacture of high-specification vehicle conversions and protection solutions to defence, security and NGO Customers worldwide, has successfully passed the Belgium MOD’s (BeMOD) Preliminary Technical Acceptance (PTA) project milestone with their new Light Tactical Transport Vehicle (LTTV) and is now entering into high volume production. The LTTV programme will deliver 199 of the Mercedes UNIMOG based vehicles to the BeMOD.

The PTA milestone provides sign-off of the first of type vehicles against the contracted requirements, allowing commencement of the full production programme. Included in the PTA review is the quality plan for production, proof of compliance with European legislation, and an in-depth technical compliance review against the detailed customer requirement documents. Now PTA has been achieved, Jankel will commence the full production programme that will deliver 199 vehicles across the first quarters of 2022. In order to deliver this programme, Jankel has established a dedicated and state-of-the-art production capability based in the Midlands that was the subject of a company announcement in September 2021.

The LTTV order follows the earlier production contract to supply the BeMOD with over 100 FOX Rapid Reaction Vehicles (RRV), based on a modified COTS Toyota chassis system. Unveiled at DSEi in September 2019 and also displayed at DSEi in September 2021, Jankel’s LTTV is designed to provide a modular and configurable tactical support vehicle that benefits from unique, removable mission modules that enable the vehicle to be re-roled rapidly for operational platform versatility.  With a payload of over 3 tonnes, dependent on the final vehicle specification, the LTTV has 3 core variants for Special Operations support, including an ambulance variant.  Alongside a user-configurable, fully integrated suite of military sub-systems that includes a removable ballistic protection kit, a Roll-Over-Protection-System (ROPS), weapon mounts and communications fit, the platform will provide full interoperability with the Fox fleet of tactical vehicles.

The LTTV’s versatility already promises to be a world-leader, literally able to plug and play between rear bed configurations. Combining the strengths of a trusted and highly capable OEM platform with militarised and mission specific tactical enhancements, Jankel’s LTTV has already attracted the attention of several other countries and is of particular interest to those already operating with the Mercedes Benz UNIMOG platform.

This award aims to reward the most innovative companies in terms of products, materials, services, solutions, or business models in the homeland security industry. Helen of Troy Agrees To Acquire Osprey Packs

Helen of Troy Limited announced that one of its subsidiaries has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Osprey Packs, Inc.

Founded in 1974, Osprey is among the largest maker of technical and everyday packs in the U.S. Its product lineup includes backpacks and daypacks for hiking, mountaineering, skiing, climbing, mountain biking, trail running, commuting, school, and adventure travel packs, wheeled luggage, and travel accessories. Helen of Troy said it believes the acquisition is an “important next step as it advances its strategic goal of acquiring and investing in businesses that can accelerate profitable growth in categories where it can add value and leverage its scalable shared services and operating platform.”

Helen of Troy also owns Hydro Flask in the outdoor space. Its other brands include OXO, Vicks, Braun, Honeywell, PUR, Hot Tools, and Drybar.

The total purchase consideration is expected to be approximately $414 million in cash, including an estimated $6 million favorable customary closing net working capital adjustment. The net purchase price implies a pre-synergy multiple of less than 13.5x estimated calendar year 2022 adjusted EBITDA, which compares favorably to Helen of Troy’s current EV/TTM adjusted EBITDA multiple of approximately 17.5x. It expects Osprey’s calendar year 2021 net sales revenue to be $155 million to $160 million.

The acquisition is expected to be accretive to Helen of Troy’s consolidated sales growth rate, gross profit margin, adjusted EBITDA margin, adjusted diluted EPS, adjusted diluted EPS growth rate, and cash flow from operations. As a result of the acquisition, it expects to end fiscal 2022 with a post-acquisition pro forma debt/adjusted EBITDA ratio approximately one-half to one full turn higher than its ratio as of August 31, 2021. As a result, the company believes it can “deploy capital to generate shareholder return.”

We believe Osprey and Hydro Flask make a compelling combination in the U.S. and provide further critical mass internationally with thousands of additional retail doors that can benefit both brands and consumers. Osprey also further diversifies our international brand portfolio, and its focus on EMEA and the Asia Pacific matches our focus in those regions. On the design and operations side, Osprey’s design center and sourcing footprint in Vietnam offers an established platform to advance our product capabilities in soft goods and accelerates work already underway at Helen of Troy to further diversify our supply chain beyond China and Mexico.”

SSD’s Top Christmas Gift Picks from 5.11 – Day 8

What’s with the Day 8? I told you it was going to be a week long series, but I had to include one of 5.11’s most classic items, the Performance Short Sleeve Polo. It’s an industry standard, worn by a myriad of companies and agencies, both with and without logos embroidered on the chest.

Made from snag and wrinkle resistant 100% polyester, it incorporates a pen pocket on the left sleeve as well as mic slots at each shoulder and chest. Most of us use the chest one for sunglasses.

I’ve got to admit, I’ve worn the long sleeve version quite a bit over the years as well. Both are comfortable and hard wearing.
