Falling In Love With Hill People Gear All Over Again

Hill People Gear has been kind of quiet for awhile now but earlier today they gave us a sneak peek of a few upcoming items: the Terrainsert, Attaché and Medium GP Pocket. I can’t help but once again stand in awe of what seem to be phased improvements to their back country living system. They consistently impress.

Terrainsert
The Tarainsert is a combination framesheet / organization panel for the Tarahumara pack and made from HDPE that is slathered in FirstSpear 6/12 goodness.

Attaché
The Attache is a compression panel / attache case that can attach to the back of an Umlindi or used in stand alone mode. This 6/12 lined bag will accept up to an 11″x16″ laptop as well as accept Velcro backed pouches or holsters.

Medium GP Pocket
Based on the FirstSpear Medium GP Pocket, this HPG version features a 6/9 attachment along with a full-width slot pocket on the inside rear, and two half-width slot pockets on the inside front.

FirstSpear – Emergency Response Kit

FirstSpear’s Emergency Response Kit is a medical pouch that allows for quick access of individual medical components. The ERK is composed of two pieces: the body and insert. The insert is a fold out envelope that holds medical components via elastic retention bands and stores inside the body. The body features a deployment handle that pulls the insert out of the soft shell stretch pocket; it can be mounted to deploy either up or down. Maritime-resistant plastic snaps provide additional security to the activation handle so it won’t open when you least expect it. The ERK is designed to mount to MOLLE/PALS using FirstSpear’s propriatary 6/9 technology.

Available in Black, Ranger Green, Coyote, and MultiCam.

MDM – FirstSpear

FirstSpear developed the 6/9 BeltLink to adapt 6/9 pouches and accessories to the Assaulters Gun Belt.

Offered in packs of two, its a webbing tab with a stay and Velcro to keep in place. Elegant in its simplicity. It’s so new, it isn’t on the website so call and harass them to order.

DSEi – NFM

These vests were built by NFM as a sub to Sagem as part of the SmartVest program currently being undertaken by the BeNeLux. Sagem is also working on the next generation of the French soldier system, FELIN.

Underneath these outer vests named LCVA and LCVB, the Soldier wears a fragmentation or soft armor vest. Along with the integrated vest seen to the right, these four vests make up the system which is joined by three packs including a 100 liter 48 hour pack. The packs share an integrated waist belt that can be used with the vests as well as used alone as a cartridge belt.

You will note the 6/12 technology as well as the Tubes which is used as a front closure on this vest rather than a zipper. Awhile back, we told you that FirstSpear had entered into a cooperative agreement with NFM to utilize their technology. This makes them the exclusive
Licensee of these technologies.

Interestingly, these vests feature 6/12 technology on the front and PALS at the rear. This is so a user won’t place any comma devices at the rear and route the cables internally and possibly foul a quick release.

Here you can see the internal cable management afforded by the 6/12.

Above, is a shot of how the plates are carried. Under this concept, the Soldier dons he plates only when needed and can wear a much lower profile frag vest for other tasks.

FirstSpear ANVIS Battery Pouch Available At TNVC

The FirstSpear ANVIS Battery Pouch is designed to hold the ANVIS battery pack and other remote packs such as the Adams Industries Ground Warrior Battery Pack. It attaches to the back of any helmet via Velcro. The back of the pouch is covered in hook to easily interface with helmet covers or glued-on pile tape. Color-matched pile tape faces outward of the top flaps for easy attachment of IFF devices and patches. The inside includes an additional Velcro pocket for securing access cabling. Available in Black, Coyote Tan, MultiCam, and Ranger Green.

FirstSpear Catalog 5

FirstSpear releases two catalogs a year and catalog 5 offers 65 pages of fantastic products. New this season are a multitude of new items. In fact, it’s going to take months for us to do proper write ups on all of it. A couple of highlights include the First On – a $99 Berry Compliant Plate Carrier for LE, the scalable Ragnar Vest, the Assaulter Armor Carrier which you buy like a lego kit, Horizontal and Triple 60 rd SureFire mag pouches, Wounded Wear Sling Bag, the cavernous Speed Bag, the Asset Combat Shirt (FR) and Wind Cheater and finally an innovative new closure technology called the Alligator Rapid Access System which has already been integrated into several ordnance pouches.
