SureFire provides several products to USSOCOM as part of the SOPMOD and Joint Weapons Accessories programs. Here you can see the M720V weapon light that emits both white and IR light (including strobe). The flash hider and suppressors were selected as part of the Family of Muzzlebrakes and Suppressors. The larger can is the SOCOM762 – RC and the smaller is the SOCOM556 – RC. Deliveries are in Flat Dark Earth as shown.

SOFIC – Bulldog Equipment

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

We recently wrote about Bulldog’s Mortar and Machine Gunner’s Packs. The Mortar Pack already has a SOCOM NSN and the patent pending Machine Gunner’s Pack is in testing with several organizations.

Here are the ammo carriers which each accommodate up to 300 rounds. Additionally, this system saves 3.5 lbs off of a standard barrel bag and the system can fit any pack. This one is mounted on an ALICE frame.

SOFIC – DSArms RPD Carbine

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

20120522-105254.jpg

DSArms showed us their RPD carbine. Most parts are manufactured in the US with the exception of a few that originate in Poland. They’ve added a new buffer system that lowers the firing rate to 500-525 rpm and actually makes it easier to cock. Additionally, they’ve integrated a new fore end that features mil std 1913 rails (also compatible with existing RPDs). As you can see, there’s also an M4 carbine-style stock and MAG-style grip. The charging handle is non-reciprocating and has a folding handle. In spite of all of the changes (and more), they’ve dropped the weight to 13.5 lbs (about 2.5 lbs). This model is 7.62 x 39mm but look for info on more calibers soon (both NFA and semi).

Live From SOFIC

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

No window licking or pigs looking at wrist watches here. No photos of stuff we don’t understand. No checkout stand tabloids. No walking up to a vendor and saying, “hey man, what’s that there thing?”. No spilling of national secrets either. Just solid info from over a decade-and-a-half of active duty experience in the community.

We’re live from SOFIC with accurate, meaningful coverage of the tactical industry. Enjoy!
