Multi Mission Kits

About eight years ago USAF Security Forces worked with Eagle Industries to develop the Defensor Fortis Load Carrying System (DF-LCS). This was the first time that a load carrying system had ever been developed specifically for the Air Force’s largest career field, its security troops. They took lessons learned from other MOLLE-based systems and adapted it to their mission and standard loads. Initially adopted in OD Green since Woodland camo was the standard, the USAF has transitioned to their new Digital Tigerstripe Pattern. Consequently, the AF has switched to DF-LCS in Digital Tiger.
After the ADS garage sale, our friends at Tactical Distributors went in and worked with Tactical Fanboy to identify the best equipment left. Turns out there were a bunch of the Multi Mission Kit components of DF-LCS available. Manufactured by Eagle Industries, the Multi Mission Kit includes the Multi Mission Pack, a three day design with ample storage space, 2 ea vertical sustainment pouches and 2 ea horizontal utility pouches. These pouches are designed to expand the capacity of the MMP and further organize loads.
The MMP itself features internal organization pouches, two antenna / hydration ports, 2 external side compartments, External PALS webbing on pack waist belt, sides, bottom, and front, and a top drag handle. These are Made in USA, genuine Eagle Industries kits.

Have You Considered New Balance Minimus?
Friday, August 5th, 2011Since the Army has banned the wear of athletic footwear that feature, “five separate, individual compartments for the toes,†a lot of folks have been looking for alternatives. Even Vibram, makers of the Five Fingers brand, knew that their shoes weren’t for everyone and developed a more more traditional alternative sole for New Balance and Merrel. While I haven’t had a chance to try out the Merrel models yet, I have had a pair of the New Balance Minimus Trail 10 running shoe since January. They run true to size and are comfortable. I generally run them without socks and they are well ventilated so guys running in areas with lots of sand or loose dirt keep that in mind. They are super lightweight and weigh about half as much as a traditional running shoe.

G-Shock Mudman

The other day a reader asked about a G-Shock we had written about. It got us to thinking about watches so we thought we’d tell you about this one. It’s become fairly popular with certain elements of the military. The Casio G9000MS-1 or G-Shock Mudman is a military-inspired watch that combines features from the popular ORIGIN and MASTER OF G line-ups.
It has a molded back cover and variable durometer urethane covered bezel and buttons to prevent foreign particles, such as mud, sand, or oil from entering the watch or accumulating between the back case and wearer’s wrist. The Mudman features 200M water resistance, world time, dual auto EL backlight with afterglow, twin stopwatches, and count down timer.
