TacHacker – Duro Overruns

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

Occasionally, we get inquiries from those looking for a few yards of this or that so that they can take on a do-it-yourself project. There are plenty of places to source fabric, but one that everyone who manufactures soft goods should check is Duro Textiles, LLC. They hold the license for MultiCam and print a wide variety of patterns on even more fabrics. Check this link for overrun offerings.

Mexican Cartels Using Improvised Grenades

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

Sometimes it’s hard for those of us not in the southern border states to imagine the situation with our neighbor Mexico. Articles like this one from the BOLO Report remind us of the dangers our sworn officers and citizens are exposed to. Mexican drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) are utilizing improvised hand grenades in their internal conflicts with the Mexican government as well as with each other.

BHI Announces Big-Game Hunter Prep Course

Saturday, September 17th, 2011

BHI Outdoors has announced a new course. The Big-Game Hunter Prep Course is designed to introduce you to the skills needed to increase your confidence and practical marksmanship skills, and help ensure you don’t come back home empty handed. Veteran big-country hunters know there’s a huge difference between cutting bullet holes from a solid bench rest and being able to execute lethal and humane 100-, 200- or even 300-yard shots in the field.

Much like BHI Outdoors’ tagline “Combat Inspired – Field Proven”, this one-day program is based on many of the skills and competencies BHI teaches in their military-oriented sniper and marksmanship courses. Instructional modules include ballistics, proper zeroing of your hunting rifle, shooting form, range calculation, stress shooting, and shooting known/unknown distance targets from various positions.

For more information call BHI Outdoors at 304-457-1280.

National POW / MIA Day 2011

Friday, September 16th, 2011

When I first came into the military in the mid-80s there were a lot of Viet Nam veterans, hell, I even served with some Korean War vets. One of the things that was pretty dear to the military in those days was the issue of POWs and MIAs. It seems that since War on Terror started, we don’t discuss this much anymore, but today is National POW / MIA Day.

Please remember our missing and honor those who were held as POWs by our adversaries. Also, take a moment to visit the Defense Prisoner of War Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) who is responsible for not only accounting for our personnel, but has a lot to do with the SERE training you receive.

Multi Mission Kits

Friday, September 16th, 2011

About eight years ago USAF Security Forces worked with Eagle Industries to develop the Defensor Fortis Load Carrying System (DF-LCS). This was the first time that a load carrying system had ever been developed specifically for the Air Force’s largest career field, its security troops. They took lessons learned from other MOLLE-based systems and adapted it to their mission and standard loads. Initially adopted in OD Green since Woodland camo was the standard, the USAF has transitioned to their new Digital Tigerstripe Pattern. Consequently, the AF has switched to DF-LCS in Digital Tiger.

After the ADS garage sale, our friends at Tactical Distributors went in and worked with Tactical Fanboy to identify the best equipment left. Turns out there were a bunch of the Multi Mission Kit components of DF-LCS available. Manufactured by Eagle Industries, the Multi Mission Kit includes the Multi Mission Pack, a three day design with ample storage space, 2 ea vertical sustainment pouches and 2 ea horizontal utility pouches. These pouches are designed to expand the capacity of the MMP and further organize loads.

The MMP itself features internal organization pouches, two antenna / hydration ports, 2 external side compartments, External PALS webbing on pack waist belt, sides, bottom, and front, and a top drag handle. These are Made in USA, genuine Eagle Industries kits.
