Hide/Dry from Arc’teryx LEAF – Debuting at SHOT Show

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Arc’teryx LEAF is the first to offer a technical outerwear line designed for military and law enforcement in GORE-TEX® fabric with Multicam® print, uniting the best available windproof waterproof/breathable technologies with the most versatile and adaptable pattern.

Durable GORE-TEX® fabric maximizes protection and comfort during prolonged exposure to harsh environments. The MultiCam® print is designed to reflect the surrounding environment. Disguising shape and volume by taking on the background tone, its non-blocked pattern also balances scale and contrast, even at close distances. Both of these properties work with a third optical principle, the brain’s tendency to blur a design into its background, to offer protection across a broad range of light, elevation, seasons and environments.

In the Hide/Dry series, exceptionally durable, weatherproof, GORE-TEX® MultiCam® is taped and laminated into high performance garments, making it a one kit solution to secure exposure in harsh, wet and varied environments.

Hide/Dry LEAF products for 2012 are the Alpha Jacket and Pant, Alpha Parka and Gryphon Halfshell™ and Pant. Hybrid garments combine GORE-TEX® fabric in MultiCam® print with breathable, armour-compatible Tweave® Durastretch® for comfort and temperature regulation under kit.

Hide/Dry enables operatives to do exactly that: hide and stay dry in severe environments.

See the new Hide/Dry line at SHOT Show in booth #10526 and at OR in booth #3018.

Attn 12 Days Prize Winners

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Contest winners, please understand that organizing all of the prizes is a major task, and in the face of SHOT Show. Most of the prizes are being shipped by the vendors and once we collect everyone’s shipping data, which is still ongoing, they will be in contact with you.

Until then, please show some patience as we sort this out. Much of the speed at which this is dealt with is dependent on all of the winners reporting their shipping information. Until then, we don’t have tracking numbers for anyone.

99% of you have been real troopers.

Thank You

Caveat Emptor – TBOC Knockoffs

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Membership in the Tactical Beard Owners Club on Facebook was meant to be for fun and camaraderie but someone has taken to using the club’s logo for personal gain. No sooner had TBOC released their patches, and SSD our story on the group, had unauthorized copies of the TBOC logo begun to show up at PX vendors in Afghanistan.

Both the t-shirt and cloth patch seen here are counterfeits and someone not associated with TBOC is profiting from their sale. Please, do the right thing and don’t support them.

Gear Pockets

Monday, January 9th, 2012

If you’re the average SSD reader then you own quite a bot of kit and/or you deploy to various locations regularly where you live out of your bags.

Gear Pockets are great organizers. They’re kind of like an oversized shaving kit that provides numerous mesh pockets to organize your gear. It can be hung up like a shaving kit along a wall or the side of a vehicle or even between two trees if need be and then rolled up or folded in half for movement. All-in-all it’s a pretty cool idea, whether at home storing your gear or while deployed and using it every day.

Gear Pockets are available in three different styles; The Original, The Sportsman and The Organizer with different pocket configurations.
