Daniel Defense Torture Test II – Coming Soon from TAC-TV

Friday, December 14th, 2012

In October, I was asked to witness the straight on excess that was the Daniel Defense Torture Test II for TAC-TV. Host Larry Vickers did some outrageous stuff to a DDM4v1. They baselined everything off of last year’s show, but brought it up a notch (or two). Here’s a taste.

This montage gives a taste of everything that went down over those few days. They froze it, shot it, buried it, drug it behind a truck and blew it up. To find out how it fared, make sure to watch TAC-TV.

Duro Launches New MultiCam Fabric Website

Friday, December 14th, 2012

Duro Textiles, LLC holds the license from Crye Precision, LLC for printing MultiCam fabrics and has just launched a completely revamped website. Developed by Rubic Design, there are a lot of cool new features.

Let’s face it. The old website was a bit of a pain to order from. You had to wait for shipping to be calculated and you had to have a google account. But with this new launch, those issues are fixed and Duro has integrated new features. Shipping charges are automatically calculated (including international shipping) and checkout is much more streamlined.

In addition to a whole slew of use cases for the various fabrics, the new site allows you to browse the various materials. You can even filter the fabrics by application. They’ve also launched a few new fabrics including TenCate’s Defender-M FR fabric. Additionally, you can now sign up for a newsletter service to make sure you stay up-to-date.

This video gives you a great idea of what it takes to print MultiCam fabric.

Here is an exclusive offer for SSD readers. Use the SSDMULTICAM promo code for 10% off your order through December 21st. Then, through the 31st of December enjoy a 5% discount with the same promo code. This is limited to web orders only, but can be used by new or current customers. And, Duro let me know that they expect to see a few of the larger companies take advantage of the discount for last minute web orders before the end of the year. TacHackers, don’t forget to check the fabric overruns for some great deals.

James Yeager Is So Sick Of Being Called A Coward That He Will Challenge You To A Duel

Friday, December 14th, 2012

ENDO Gun Blog has been closely following the story about firearms trainer extraordinaire James Yeager and his chagrin with those that want to call him a coward from afar. Apparently, Yeager is so sick of it that he will challenge you to a duel to settle the issue once and for all (that is, so long as you sign this release).

Regardless of the legality of this move, Yeager is obviously pissed. This video should give you an idea of how fed up he is.

I’d say that he is pretty ticked. It also seems like it’s all gone too far and I hope that he can put everything back into perspective before this goes full retard.

SKD Tactical PIG Brigandine SYSTEMA

Friday, December 14th, 2012

I see loads of armor carriers. If anything, I’m jaded. But, every once in awhile, something different comes along. SKD came to me a few weeks ago and showed me this video and I have to say that it impressed me. Watch this video and tell me what YOU think.

Obviously, it looks different, but it is also scalable. You can go from a simple 11 oz chest rig all the way up to a full blown Plate Carrier with cummerbund and integrated pouches.

The modularity is thanks to the multiple component options. In addition to front and rear plate pockets (you can mix and match sizes), shoulder straps, cummerbunds, and rear storage systems, the PIG BRIG offers multiple chest rig systems (seen below).

Weight is mitigated by the “shoehorn” fit for the plates. It is a very tight fit but means that there is no slop and consequently, there is less fabric and less weight. Each PIG BRIG model is designed around a specific plate contour. Currently, the BRIG is available for ESAPI (4 sizes), the 10″ x 12″ Tap Gamma and the Velocity Systems/LTC ICW 10″ x 12″ Plate. Other plate shapes will be offered in the future.

Additionally, the PIG BRIG is designed with the straps attaching at a lower point than the top of the plate (like the PIG PC), allowing for a higher plate placement. Considering how many new pieces SKD had to introduce all at once, the SYSTEMA is impressive. But, to be honest, you’ve got to head over to SKD Tactical and read up on all of the options.
