Breaking – USSOCOM Cancels Suppressor Upper Receiver Group Solicitation

In a special notice issued just minutes ago, United States Special Operations Command has canceled the Suppressor Upper Receiver Group solicitation.

The Suppressor Upper Receiver Group solicitation is cancelled.

United States Special Operations Command plans to analyze the results of the testing and post a new solicitation to industry in the future.

The message was simple and straight forward, yet doesn’t explain why. Many in industry have been very critcal of the ambitious program due to its requirements to keep the weapon cool enough to handle in spite of high operating temperatures.

Considering the solicitation closed just a month ago, this move seems quite sudden. It sounds like none of the candidates met the program’s goals and SOCOM is going to circle back around.

Crye Precision Releases EXP Pack Family

At SHOT Show, Crye Precision introduced their EXP series of packs. Offered in 1500 (H: 18.75” (27.75” Extended) W: 12.5” D: 7.25” (11” Expanded)) and 2100 (H: 21” (29” Extended) W: 12.5” D: 9.25” (12.75” Expanded)) cu in sizes, the EXP series is a low profile option. It is a panel loader, with a generous zipper which extends beyond more than three sides in order to open the bag completely.

As you’ll note from the dimensions, these are like Transformers, there’s more than meets the eye. Thanks to some well hidden zippers, the packs will expand in volume to accept larger loads.

MATBOCK Monday || Backdraft Medical

Developed in coordination with some of the leading medics and combat first responders, the MATBOCK Backdraft is for small teams with relatively quick access to higher levels of care.

The unit mounts on the back of the plate carrier via MOLLE and is split into 2 separate removable pouches that are held in place via Velcro.

The unit was designed to split medical equipment between bleeding and airway and is run in this setup by different units.

The bottom of each pouch is attached to an adjustable lanyard that connects to the side panel of the plate carrier. When the operator requires the contents of one of the pouches, he or she simply pulls the lanyard, releasing that pouch.

The pack does not come equipped with any medical supplies as this time and is not limited to medical purposes only, but was initially designed for the medic. The back panel of the unit and the pouches is Tegris to give them rigidity and the pouches are made of MATBOCK’s extremely lightweight and strong Ghost Lite. Additionally, because the material is completely waterproof, the contents of the bag will remain protected from the environments.

The 7 Essential Elements Of An Effective Military Force

Canadian Lt General Stanley C Waters served as a Major in the famed combined USA/Canada First Special Service Force.

He related:
“there are seven essential elements in the make-up of any effective military force. I will list them in what I believe to be proper order: Leaders, Men, Discipline, Training, Physical Fitness, Morale, and Equipment (although it could be argued that the first six are of equal importance and only equipment may be of lesser importance.)

“You will recognize let the Force excelled in all elements which particular on Men, Physical Fitness, and Morale. In my later experience, if I was asked to compare the Force with other first class troops I served with or commanded, I would always single out the quality of the men, their superb strength and endurance plus their indomitable spirit and high morale. We would have been a formidable force equipped only with clubs.”

Fortunatley, the Force was equipped with RS explosives, M1911A1 pistols, M1A1 carbines, M1 Garands, M1941 Johnson LMGs, and V-42 Knives.
