Make Mosul Great Again

Tuesday, March 14th, 2017

We, here at SSD received this interesting message from Battle Brothers Trading.

We made some patches a couple of weeks ago during the initial push into western Mosul. We are selling and auctioning these off in order to donate 100% of the proceeds towards medical aid and equipment for civilians currently escaping ISIS on the western front.

We have been going over to Kurdistan and Iraq for the last two years supporting Peshmerga and now recently ISOF in certain capacity. We met and worked together with an organization called “The Academy of Emergency Medicine” on our last couple of trips, assisting them in rendering aid to civilians and soldiers on the battlefield. These guys are the real deal. Based out of the Slovak Republic, they are currently embedded with ISOF and are doing a lot of good on the medical front.

Battle Brothers Trading Company is a consulting and training company that has an FFL/SOT and a showroom, as well as a website for product sales. A portion of all sales in the pro shop and the website goes towards medical equipment and gear for guys putting foot to ass against ISIS.

“Make Mosul Great Again”

These patches were made to commemorate ongoing operations in Western Mosul in 2017.

Besides the ones currently being worn in the field, we made 21 more. These are made in Iraq, supporting local small business. All proceeds of sales go directly towards medical equipment and care for wounded Civilians currently escaping Mosul.

We have ten up for sale at 100.00 per patch, and another 10 that will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. Each patch comes with a certificate and the patches will be numbered 2-21/21.

1/20 is going to the man who coined the original MAGA….

Tasmanian Tiger – Tac Modular Pack 30 Vent

Tuesday, March 14th, 2017

New for 2017 is the TT Tac Modular Pack 30 Vent exhibited earlier this month at Enforce Tac and IWA.

This 30 liter pack is made from 700D Cordura and features a 3/4 length zipper, allowing the upper compartment to be opened fully. There is also a lower compartment, accessible via a half moon zipper. Additionally, there is a laser cut PALs webbing field on the rear flap and softshell pockets on either side of the bag. The top of the rear flap incorporates a zippered pocket and also offers elastic cord for quick, external storage.

The ventilated X Vent Zero Plus carrying system is quite interesting. Some outdoor packs offer similar suspensions but use a full mesh packpanel. TT has opened the back up because the additional material doesn’t really bear the load and just makes the wearer sweat more.

I like the two-tone version seen above, but a Dark Grey model called Carbon was seen at IWA the following day (below). There is said to be a Black model as well.

The Cat’s Out Of The Bag On The Kryptek Plate Carrier

Tuesday, March 14th, 2017

At the recent Enforce Tac show in Nürnberg, Germany, I had the opportunity to check out Kryptek’s new tactical line of clothing and equipment which was on display in Precision Tecnhnic Defense’s stand. One of the items is a new lightweight plate carrier which joins the line of PALS compatible pouches they released earlier this year. As it was a prototype, they were not yet ready for me to share it with the world. However, German blog Strategie Technik shared a photo of the carrier.

It is extremely lightweight with integrated Admin Pouch at the upper chest along with three magazine pouches.  However, they mentioned that the integrated Admin Pouch would be removed to make way for PALS compatibility in that space. You may also spy Tubes connectors on this carrier which have been licensed from FirstSpear.  You’ll also notice a radio pouch attached to the cummerbund. My favorite feature is the rigid opening on the ammo pouches which make it much easier to replace magazines one-handed.

“Make Silencers Great Again” Promotion from Griffin Armament

Tuesday, March 14th, 2017

Griffin Armament is proud to announce the “Make Silencers Great Again Promotion” Effective immediately every silencer* shipping from Griffin’s manufacturing floor to its Dealers and Distributors will contain two $100 coupons which can be mailed to Griffins address in exchange for store credit on their website. Boxes containing coupons will be sealed with a gold label.

“Sales are down unnecessarily, said Evan Green business development manager at Griffin Armament. “When the markets have been rallying and jobs are being produced, consumer misunderstanding of the legislative process and the Hearing Protection Act, is hurting an otherwise stable industry. Many people who want to buy are sitting on discretionary spending in the hopes that HPA will soon pass. The entire industry has come to a very similar conclusion that it will be quite a while until HPA is able to pass if at all despite almost unanimous support. People not buying right now is only further delaying them from enjoying silencers. It just doesn’t make any sense and this shouldn’t have happened. Unfortunately a lot of miss information was flying around and nobody in the industry was trying to educate consumers on how long it actually takes to get a bill to pass, what percentage of bills pass, that the legislative process usually takes hundreds of days etc. This bill in some form has been presented to congress since 2015 and this congressional session is closing in a few months, so it looks like it will be rolling to another year. Griffin is just as hopeful as everyone else for the HPA. However having a realistic viewpoint on it is critical to the survival of the silencer industry and the Americans who work hard to move it forward. The ‘Make Silencers Great Again’ promotion is the most we can do as a company to try to encourage spending right now.” Evan continued. “It’s honestly an amazing time to be a buyer. I remember when I was younger and was spending my money on an OPS INC can and promotions didn’t exist in the market. You could barely even get a dealer to handle the sale for you. Muzzle devices had to be purchased separately from the silencer, etc. I remember having to help my local class 3 dealer to understand the paperwork because he did so few transactions. But times have changed and there are plenty of dealers on the market selling products at great prices and walking the customer through the purchase quickly while keeping them informed. This program is also a great way to let consumers know that we appreciate them, we’ve been wanting to so something like this for a while.”

For more information visit www.GriffinArmament.com All Griffin silencers are applicable to the “Make Silencers Great Again” promotion except for Griffin rimfire silencers.

Arbor Arms – Flex Release Cummerbund

Monday, March 13th, 2017

Arbor Arms’ Flex Releasable Cummerbund Kit (FRC Kit) is a cummerbund retrofit kit that incorprates the Arbor Arms FLEX Cobra buckle by AustriAlpin. Additionally, the kit replaces the cummerbund’s standard, wide bands with these three 1″ elastic straps.

However, the Flex Releasable Kit goes even further than just replacing your cummerbund with a simpler means of closure. It’s also a releasable system for their plate carriers.

You might recognize this as the Derma cummerbund from Ares Armor, but Arbor Arms is the new company by designer, Jon Zum.
