Arc’teryx LEAF 2018 – Courier Bag 15

Monday, December 11th, 2017

This article offers the first peek at the 2018 Arc’teryx LEAF line with the new Courier Bag 15. It’s a 15 liter capacity messenger style bag for use at administrative as well as operational tasks.

Inside, there’s a removable Velcro-faced internal divider, which can cradle a sub gun or a 13″ – 15″ laptop. It will also accept after-market Velcro pouches from a variety of manufacturers. I saw the Courier Bag 15 earlier this year and I understand prototypes have been under evaluation at SIG Academy for some time as it will accept the SIG MCX Rattler. The design is nondescript and you don’t notice the access zipper at the side. I also really like the fully adjustable three-point shoulder strap, which makes the load quite stable.

Constructed from a plain weave, high tenacity nylon, the Courier Bag 15 is durable, weather resistant and most importantly, discreet.

Available after the new year, contact your favorite Arc’teryx LEAF dealer for details, or visit leaf.arcteryx.com.

MATBOCK Monday – Gunner Station Pouch and Panel

Monday, December 11th, 2017

The newest product in the MATBOCK collection comes directly from the operators. They needed a solution for a long standing problem that turret gunners have independently solved, but here is the MATBOCK solution. From helicopter door gunners, to SBT operators they have provided a great solution.

The Gunner Station Pouch and Panel are a great product for any mounted machine gun position. The panel easily secures to the platform frame or turret using 550 cord, allowing the gunner to customize their pouch with critical tools like pry-bar, lights, and CLP to name a few. Understanding that fixing a down machine gun on any platform is critical to a units survivability, we build in retractable lanyards giving the operator comfort in knowing their tools are safe to let go once the malfunction has been cleared.

Key Features:
Waterproof / durable Ghost Material construction
Quickly attach / detach the pouch from the panel with MATBOCK’s Tabs
Two saltwater resistant lanyards
Three options:

1) Gunner Station Pouch, includes 1 pouch
2) Gunner Station Pouch and 1 Panel
3) Gunner Station Pouch/Panel Kit, which includes 1 panel and 2 pouches

Sneak Peek – Salomon Forces Introduces Wide Instep For Speedcross 4 Forces

Monday, December 11th, 2017

Last month I visited the Salomon Footwear headquarters in the French Alps and got a look at how they develop products as well as what’s in store for the Forces line in 2018. First off, they’ve updated the Speedcross 4 Wide Forces with new sizing. Salomon is also introducing unisex sizing for the Toundra CWSP boot which is great as more and more women join the military, law enforcment and first responder communities.

Speedcross 4 Wide Forces

Long a trail running staple, the Speedcross 4 has been very popular with Forces cuatomers who prefer its light weight and Contragrip deep lugs in soft terrain. But, many North American customers have complained about the tight fit across the instep. Salomon has listened and is introducing a new last with wider toebox for the Speedcross 4 in 2018. I received a sample pair this Fall and can definitely tell the difference. You won’t have that tight feeling you’ve noticed with the existing last. From here on out, new footwear will incorporate this new last and as existing models are updates, they’ll be rolled out with this new fit as well. But interestingly, this Wide option will not be introduced to the commercial line. Turns out, North American and European feet are the same size. We are just used to a wider toe box here in the US. However, according to Salomon, that’s doesn’t mean everyone around the world shares the same footshape.  Apparently, Asians actually do have wider feet.

Toundra

Available in Black for both men and women, the Toundra is Salomon’s warmest winter boot for extreme environments. It will keep your feet warm when the temps drop down to -40°C/°F, at just 660 grams per pair (23.3oz for size 8.5UK/9US), it is by far the lightest boot in the extreme cold weather segment.

These products will be fully available after the first of the year. Contact your favorite Salomon Forces dealer for details, or visit www.salomon.com/us/men/collection-forces.
