This Air National Guard photo by TSgt Daniel Ter Haar, was intended to inform Guard members about the upcoming switch from the Airman Battle Uniform in Digital Tiger Stripe to the Army Combat Uniform in the Operational Camouflage Pattern. If a picture tells a thousand words, this one didn’t transmit the intended message.
I was fortunate enough to visit ARC’One, the Arc’teryx factory in British Columbia. It is amazing to see the different designs being produced by highly skilled teams, considering the number of operations and amount of time that goes into each product.
“Ein Männlein steht im Walde?” A little man stands in the forest? – What an understatement…. In reality there are 15 volunteers who use different camouflage patterns. Because one thing is clear: the effectiveness of camouflage is decided where it is worn, in the forest, on the field, on the meadow, on the mountain and also in the city. And this is CONCAMO exclusively on SPARTANAT in the first field test.

The patterns that compete here with CONCAMO: ATACS FG, ATACS iX, PenCott GreenZone, PenCott BadLands, Multicam, Multicam Tropic, Flecktarn, 3 Farb Flecktarn and Vegetato.
The pictures were taken in southern Germany, between the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb. The pictures are very fresh, they were taken on Friday, August 3, 2018. This CONCAMO field test was perfectly photographed by Ripperkon.
About 20 different areas were photographed, from green deciduous forest to dry quarry.
These are the first eight series, later CONCAMO will also compete in new picture comparisons in other seasons.

If you are still wondering what this is in the photo: A black and white board was put up with each picture, so that the pictures correspond to the scientific standard and manipulations are prevented. It makes clear what the true colors are. The Bundeswehr does the same.

I stopped by Dynamis Alliance the other day and they were going over some marketing materials for their ADAPTIVX line. Right now, it consists of jeans, but the core of the brand is the IWS (Integrated Waistband System).
Granted, I had seen it in the past, but I was focused primarily on its use for concealed carry of a firearm. But then I started to look at the different inserts they had available and consider other uses. It’s then when I realized that they are redefining concealability. Consider that as long as their has been money, there have been pickpockets. The defense has long been some form of money belt. IWS will do that and more, offering options for concealed carry of a wide variety of items, whether they are valuables, electronics or weapons for self defense.
