OR Summer Market 19 – Skinners Barefoot Shoes

Friday, June 21st, 2019

Skinners are socks that can be worn in lieu of shoes. These Barefoot Shoes combine knit construction with a 2mm layer of polymer adhered to the sole to protect the foot from sharp rocks and such.

While there’s a whole argument to be made that we aren’t created to wear shoes on our feet and doing so actually weakens them, I love the idea of Skinners because I can walk from my tent to take a leak at 3AM without having to put boots on.

Available now in multiple colors (olive shown) and sizes from skinners.cc as well as Amazon.

OR Summer Market 19 – SOG Knives Parashears

Friday, June 21st, 2019

The Parashears from SOG Knives we previewed last year are finally ready. It was designed in conjunction with emergency medics as a single tool they’d want to take when weight is a factor.

It integrates a glass breaker, line/seatbelt hook, rope cutter, inch rule, millimeter rule, tweezer,, serrated blade, awl, oxygen wrench, Phillips screwdriver, standard screwdriver/bottle opener and of course, compound leverage shears.

Yet, Parashears fold up into a compact form factor.

The holdup has been development of a version with Red handles and matte finished shear blades which will actually be released first as an REI exclusive. The other variant is finished completely in a Matte Black finish. Made from 3CR13 Stainless Steel with glass reinforced nylon handles.

OR Summer Market 19 – Trade Rolling Suitcase in Woodland / 6-Color Desert from Herschel Supply Co

Friday, June 21st, 2019

For the past few years I’ve had a Herschel Trade rolling suitcase in Woodland Camo. It’s a hard-sided case that’s taken well over 100,000 airline miles. I always know which bag is mine coming off of the carousel and my contents always arrive safe and sound. Unfortunately, baggage handlers are working hard to rip one of the wheels off. Eventually, it will succumb to their efforts.

That’s why I was super stoked to see that Herschel is releasing a new variant in Spring 20 featuring a combination of both Woodland and 6-color Desert camouflage patterns. The Trade comes in four sizes and its clamshell design features integrated locks for the two zipper polls.

Herschel will be introducing a whole slew of their other styles in 6-color Desert as well, but the Trade remains my favorite.

If you’re interested in getting one, make sure you jump on them quickly once they are available because the camouflage variants always go quickly.
