Domo Tactical Communications Celebrates Success Trials in Demonstrating its MANET Soldier Data Radio

Monday, September 9th, 2019

DSEI 2019, London, Stand number N5-352: Domo Tactical Communications (DTC), the wireless communications specialist, celebrates recent successes in trials demonstrating its SOL8SDR-H as a MANET Mesh Soldier Data Radio, proving compatibility with ATAK and other situational awareness applications.

Sharing PLI, mapping data, voice, messaging and mission plans – and operating without the need for external infrastructure – gives users in the field a significant advantage. A well-informed warfighter can make better decisions to carry out their objective as efficiently as possible and without unnecessary risks.

The groundbreaking SOL8SDR-H Handheld Radio provides the possibility to operate in channel bandwidths down to 1.25MHz for extreme range performance at very low power making it the ideal choice for MANET Soldier Data Radios where reliability to communicate in the harshest of environments whilst maintaining LPI/LPD is imperative.

Truly software-defined and future-proofed, the SOL8SDR can host multiple waveforms as the mission evolves. In addition to MiMo and SiMo Mesh solutions, the SOL8SDR today can be a Unidirectional COFDM transmitter – including interoperable DVB-T modes – and a streaming COFDM receiver ideal for Remote Video Terminal (RVT) applications.

The SOL8SDR-H is designed to meet the requirements of applications where robust encrypted, mobile communication links are needed to provide enhanced situational awareness in the absence of fixed infrastructure. Targeting first responders, security and military personnel, the SDR-H utilises the DTC COFDM waveforms to provide High Bandwidth data in challenging, dynamic, Non-Line of Site (NLOS) environments where our users operate. It combines a familiar “Soldier Radio” physical form factor, robust construction and simplified user interface with the ability to use industry-standard battery packs, chargers and webbing pouches.

The SOL8SDR-H Handheld Radio and our other Video and IP products will be on Stand N5-352 during DSEI 10-13 September 2019. For more information, please visit www.domotactical.com or email solent.info@domotactical.com.

Supacat, Rheinmetall and SCISYS Partnership Showcases New High Mobility Integrated Fires Capability

Monday, September 9th, 2019

10-13 Sept 2019, DSEi, London

Stand No: N9-350

Supacat, Rheinmetall Defence and SCISYS have partnered to showcase a new capability for light forces, the ‘High Mobility Integrated Fires Capability’, at DSEi.  The partnership demonstrates Supacat’s 6×6 HMT platform mounted with Rheinmetall’s MWS81 mortar system in its first integration on a light vehicle.  The target acquisition and integrated fire support platform is networked with SCISYS GVA compliant platform and mission software.

Supacat’s highly mobile HMT platforms with their superior off road performance allow users to perform high tempo operations delivering indirect fire for light role forces while the MWS81 mortar capability allows for rapid ‘into action time’.  The Vingmate sight provides target acquisition and location during day and night operations, with targets being shared over the battlespace data network enabling Support Weapon effects to be directed precisely onto targets.

The SCISYS developed GVA compliant platform and mission software shares data and video around the platform to each crew member’s display and into the battlespace networks, enhancing shared situational awareness and speed of decision making.  The displays are supplied by Leonardo.

“This enhanced capability is a first for light forces and offers a solution to a number of potential requirements among the green army and Special Forces”, said Phil Applegarth, Head of Supacat.

High Mobility Integrated Fires Capability is being demonstrated on the Supacat stand N9-350 on Supacat’s HMT Extenda Mk2 Special Forces vehicle, which is also making its show debut at DSEi.

Revision Awarded Contract By Dutch Ministry Of Defence To Deliver Next Generation Helmet System

Monday, September 9th, 2019

Montreal, Quebec (September 9, 2019) – Revision—the world leader in innovative head protection systems and soldier solutions—has been selected by the Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD) to supply Batlskin Viper® P6N helmet systems for Dutch Military Forces. The contract for delivery of approximately 48,800 combat helmets was awarded on a full and open competition basis to Revision. Additionally, a 15-year maintenance and support agreement was established, with an estimated completion date of 2034. The bespoke helmet system, developed to the Dutch MoD’s rigorous performance standards and weight requirements, represents the first major advancement in helmet technology for Dutch Military Forces in over 20 years.

“We are extremely proud of the helmet suite that we developed for the Dutch MoD,” said Jonathan Blanshay, CEO, Revision. “Our experienced team of engineers and designers worked with the latest materials to build a user-centric system that offers better protection, optimized fit, reduced weight, and enhanced integration options. Combined, these features ultimately lead to improved operational effectiveness for the soldier. The Dutch MoD’s move to Revision’s Viper P6N system follows the trend started by Denmark and the United Kingdom to upgrade their programs to Revision’s next generation helmets and we expect other NATO countries will follow suit. Our continued investment in cutting-edge materials and efficient, high-volume manufacturing processes cement Revision’s position to meet the growing global demand for customized advanced military helmet systems.”

“The current version [Dutch helmet] dates from the early 1990s and is in urgent need of replacement,” said the Dutch project lead quoted in DMO Magazine, Materieel Gezien (volume 06, 2019). “The helmet from Revision Military was the best in the tests. Among other things, the helmets received the highest rating from the users in the test group.”

The Viper P6N helmet was developed to the exacting standards set by the Dutch MoD, and was selected in part after extensive user trials – proving that Revision’s helmets are chosen by end-users due to comfort, integration and weight. The Viper P6N helmet shell utilized advanced materials (including Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene – UHMWPE) and processes to exceed high protection standards in a lightweight, adaptable and comfortable system. More than 55,000 helmet covers in the new Dutch camouflage, “Netherlands Fractal Pattern” will be supplied in green, tan and white, and all systems will include Revision’s best-in-class APEX Liner system that is infinitely customizable for ultimate comfort and impact protection. Additional accessories include lightweight skeletonized accessory rails and the Wilcox® L4 Shroud. Revision will begin delivering helmet systems to the Dutch MoD later this year.

Above: Revision’s Batlskin Viper® P6N Helmet System was developed to the rigorous standards of the Dutch Ministry of Defence, and features premium protection in a lightweight, integrated helmet system.
