SHOT Show 17 – TNVC/Unity Tactical TAPS Update

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

During Range Day we mentioned the production version of the Tactical Augmented Pressure Switch. To clarify, there are two variants and externally both look the same because they have the same basic functionality.

The TAPS mounts to M-Lok, KeyMod and Pic rail and includes 7″ SureFire/Insight or 7″ Insight/Insight leads. Once again, it requires a 2032 battery for constant on, but even without it, momentary still works. The only difference from the base model and the TAPSpro is that the pro model is programmable. Consequently, there’s a difference in price. The TAPS is $139 and TAPSpro is $239. Considering other switches are more expensive (and not programmable) that’s not a bad price. Plus, TAPS is 100% Made in USA. Additionally, the switches are available in FDE and Black.

These have been manufactured. The products will be loaded on the website and begin shipping next week.

I hope this answers any questions that have come up.

SHOT Show 17 – Winkler Knives II

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

It was great to see Daniel and Karen out from the bowels of the basement and out on the show floor with the other tactical brands. ABS Master Bladesmith Daniel Winkler showed me several new models, but I’m going to share the Walker Spike with you now.

The inspiration for the name obviously came from the popular TV show, “The Walking Dead” and was designed for one simple task; to ventilate someone if they get into a grapple with you, in order to get them off of you far enough to engage by other means.  Made from 80CRV2, it features a leather wrapped handle and comes with a Kydex sheath.

Additionally, the Emergency Response Tool, released at The Blade Show, has received a slight update. Daniel added a glassbreaker to the rear of the head.

We’ll have more new items from Winkler Knives soon.

Each trigger ships with both 3 to 3.5 or 5 to 5.5 lbs pull weight springs so the shooter can choose. The SSR trigger also features a PVD, TiCN Copper coating. Finally, the trigger bow has been extended to allow the pad of the finger to more easily find its natural firing position.

Blue Force Gear Micro Trauma Kit Now!

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

The Blue Force Gear Micro Trauma Kit Now!TM, also known as the Micro TKNTM, is the smallest version of the Trauma Kit Now!TM available on the market. This pack, which is available for purchase filled or unfilled, is designed to hold essential lifesaving gear in a small easy-to-carry pack that takes up minimal space. The supplies inside of the Filled Micro TKNTM include:

-Quick clot combat gauze
-HyFin vent chest seal (2 Seals included)
-Cleer medical trauma bandage 4” flat pack
-Decompression needle
-Six 2in. x 9in. Frog Tape
-Size 28 Nasopharyngeal Airway
-One pair of heavy-duty medical gloves in tan

The Micro TKNTM is constructed to be worn horizontally and is less bulky than the typical pouch, which makes it ideal for everyday carry by law enforcement professionals, low-profile mission sets and prepared civilians. The inner carrier can be easily deployed with one finger or one hand from either the left or right side by pulling the BLIP featured
pull-tabs.

“Whether downrange, in the hunting field, or in everyday life – Blue Force Gear believes in a mindset of readiness,” said Tom Kaleta, Director of Marketing. “Hunters carry seemingly every device, scent cover, and tool imaginable, but few I’ve ever encountered carry a trauma kit that contains more than a few bandages. This kit takes up very little room, weighs virtually nothing and contains the tools to treat the three most common battlefield injuries. Why would every hunter or shooter not carry a Micro TKNä?”

The Micro TKNTM has two main components: the outer MOLLE or belt-mounted pouch using the Ten-Speed technology; and a removable insert to keep medical supplies organized.

Find technical specs and see a demonstration of Blue Force Gear’s new Micro Trauma Kit Now!TM and other innovative products in booth 31209 at SHOT Show in Las Vegas from Jan. 17–20.

SHOT Show 17 – ZEV Technologies

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

This is ZEV’s Delta Point Pro Adjustable Sight Plate.

Developed in conjunction with Leupold for elements of USSOCOM, it is the first Leupold approved mounting solution for the Delta Point Pro. Made from 300 series stainless steel, it allows the shooter to easily switch between the irons and DPP. Obviously, it’s also designed to work seemlessly with ZEV’s proprietary slide cut.
