Ask SSD – Arc’teryx LEAF Cold WX Jacket and Pants SV Temp Range

Recently, after we mentioned the latest Cold Weather ensemble from Arc’teryx LEAF, we were asked, “What Is The Intended Temp Range For The Arc’teryx LEAF Cold WX Jacket and Pants SV?”

The answer is from -20C/-04F down to -40C/-40F, so you’re looking at some seriously cold temperatures.


We also got a question, asking if the fit block in the torso is large enough to wear over kit. According to Arc’teryx, the amswer is “No.” It’s designed to be worn with overwhites, if required tactically, and with external LCE as you can see in this CSOR photo.

The large, mil spec 1000 denier Cordura Nylon bag features a 6,550 cubic inch main compartment and two side pockets, one designed to accommodate an M4 or similar sized carbine. The bag is backed up by a removable, heavy duty aircraft aluminum frame capable of supporting weights up to 150lbs. The frame is finished in tough industrial powder coating and features one piece, smooth rolling, shatterproof rubber wheels. SureFire Field Notes – Tyler Grey

SureFire Field Notes is a multi-segment informational video series with tips and techniques from subject matter experts of all backgrounds. In this episode, Tyler Grey discusses usage of the fundamentals of low light.

Tyler Grey is a former US Army Special Operations Veteran. Tyler served over four and half years with the 2nd Ranger Battalion as a Sniper and then another four and a half at Ft. Bragg. He has extensive combat experience from multiple deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as other experience in the usage of low light techniques and tactics.
