Mission Ready’s Innovation Division Awarded OTA Agreement from the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Soldier Center

Protect The Force Inc. to Develop Hardened Arm Protective Yoke Prototype(s) for the US Army

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA – OCTOBER 11, 2022 – Mission Ready Solutions Inc (“Mission Ready” or the “Company“) (TSX-V: MRS) (OTCQX: MSNVF) (FSE: 2R4), a provider of comprehensive government contracting solutions, is pleased to announce that, Protect the Force Inc. (PTF), the Company’s innovation and manufacturing division, has been awarded an Other Transaction for Prototype Agreement to develop a hardened arm protective yoke (HARPY) for next-generation body armor.

The award is in reference to a Request for Project Proposal (RPP) DEVCOM SC BOTAA 22-01 by the US Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground – Natick Contracting Division. As a result of the award, PTF will fabricate HARPY prototypes for the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Soldier Center (DEVCOM-SC).

“The HARPY is one of the only ballistic protective items in the Army development pipeline since the Ballistic Combat Shirt that led to PTF’s Flex9Armor,” said Francisco J. The HARPY will be an integral part of a future protective ensemble, compatible with the Army Combat Shirt (ACS), among other items. The garment is intended to enhance Soldier protection and mobility while meeting the DoD performance and standard military textile requirements (flame retardancy, antimicrobial, visual signature, care, maintenance, etc.)

HHS Purchases Drug for Use in Radiological and Nuclear Emergencies

As part of long-standing, ongoing efforts to be better prepared to save lives following radiological and nuclear emergencies, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is purchasing a supply of the drug Nplate from Amgen USA Inc; Nplate is approved to treat blood cell injuries that accompany acute radiation syndrome in adult and pediatric patients (ARS).

Amgen, based in Thousands Oaks, California, developed Nplate for ARS with support from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), as well as the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.

BARDA is using its authority provided under the 2004 Project Bioshield Act and $290 million in Project BioShield designated funding to purchase this supply of the drug. Amgen will maintain this supply in vendor-managed inventory. This approach decreases life-cycle management costs for taxpayers because doses that near expiration can be rotated into the commercial market for rapid use prior to expiry and new doses can be added to the government supply.

ARS, also known as radiation sickness, occurs when a person’s entire body is exposed to a high dose of penetrating radiation, reaching internal organs in a matter of seconds. Symptoms of ARS injuries include impaired blood clotting as a result of low platelet counts, which can lead to uncontrolled and life-threatening bleeding.

To reduce radiation-induced bleeding, Nplate stimulates the body’s production of platelets. The drug can be used to treat adults and children.

Nplate is also approved for adult and pediatric patients with immune thrombocytopenia, a blood disorder resulting in low platelet counts. Repurposing drugs for acute radiation syndrome that also are approved for a commercial indication helps to sustain availability of the product and improves healthcare provider familiarity with the drug.

Thales Awarded Major Order to Deliver Handheld IMBITR Radios for US Army’s Leader Radio Program

• Thales has just been awarded its fifth order, valued at $100M to deliver 4,000 handheld Improved Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radios (IMBITR) for the US Army’s Leader Radio Program under the second full-rate production order (FRP-2), bringing the total number of IMBITR to be deployed by the US Army to 14,000.

• The radio forms a critical element of the US Army’s modern, resilient tactical network, giving warfighters increased flexibility in multi-domain operations through enhanced communication capabilities.

• The IMBITR is the first handheld radio to use the US Army’s latest Warrior Robust Enhanced Network waveform, and is able to operate in challenging radio frequency (RF) environments, enhancing situational awareness and faster decision-making.

Thales announces its fifth order for the US Army Leader Program, valued at up to $100 million, demonstrating continued success within the US Army’s Handheld, Manpack, and Small Form Fit (HMS) Army Leader Radio Program.

In September, awards were made under the FRP-2 contracting effort and existing competitive, Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. This most recent award represents an additional 4,000-plus AN/PRC-148D 2-channel IMBITR (Improved Multi-Band Inter/Intra Team Radios), bringing the total of IMBITR radios ordered by the US Army to more than 14,000.

This contract demonstrates Thales’ ability to deliver mission critical capabilities into the Army’s Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) and Capability Set formations. As a critical component of the Army’s unified network strategy, the Thales IMBITR system extends advanced networking capabilities to the tactical edge, allowing warfighters increased flexibility in multi-domain operations.

In partnership with the U.S. Army, Thales is delivering the latest WREN-TSM Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (MANET) waveform, as well as the simultaneously critical narrowband, tactical line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight communications capabilities. Together, these provide cryptographically modernized assured, simultaneous networked voice, data and video communications for improved situational awareness and real-time decision-making.

The Thales AN/PRC-148D IMBITR is the first handheld radio to field the U.S. Army Warrior Robust Enhanced Network (WREN-TSM™) waveform, which is a Type 1 robust, reliable, and scalable networking waveform capable of 800-plus nodes and operating in challenging radio frequency (RF) environments.

Currently, 8,400 IMBITR radios are operationally deployed, highly successful, and a preferred solution for the Security Force Assistance Brigade and Infantry Brigade Combat Team/Stryker Brigade Combat Teams.

GM Defense to Provide Battery Electric Technology to Defense Innovation Unit

WASHINGTON, D.C. — GM Defense, a subsidiary of General Motors, was selected by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to develop a battery pack prototype for testing and analysis on Department of Defense platforms. GM Defense will leverage GM’s most advanced battery technology, the Ultium Platform, as it works to meet DIU’s requirement for a scalable design that can be used for tactical military vehicles. DIU is a Department of Defense organization that accelerates the adoption of commercial technology across the U.S. military, which aligns with GM Defense’s mission of leveraging GM’s advanced technologies for global defense and government customers.

GM’s Ultium Platform is a combined electric vehicle (EV) battery architecture and propulsion system that can deliver power, range, and scale beyond any previous GM hybrid or extended range EV technology. Modular and scalable, the Ultium Platform uses different chemistries and cell form factors, making it adaptable to changing needs and new technology insertions as they become available.

This award follows a similar announcement GM Defense made in July when the business was selected by the U.S. Army to provide a GMC HUMMER EV Pickup for analysis and demonstration. The award is intended to help meet the military’s requirement for a light- to heavy-duty battery EV that can support reduced reliance on fossil fuels in the operational and garrison environments.

Mehler Vario System Awarded Sizable Contract to Supply More Ballistic Protective Vests to Swedish Armed Forces

FULDA, GERMANY (10 Oct. 2022)—Mehler Vario System has been awarded a contract to continue supplying its high-performance ballistic protective vests to the armed forces of Sweden, the company today announced.

The important contract—also announced by the Swedish Defence Procurement Agency “Försvarets Materielverk” (FMV) on its website—calls for Mehler Vario System to increase the quantities of ballistic protective vests it delivers.

Prior to the awarding of the new contract, Mehler Vario System had outfitted Sweden’s military with several thousand of the protective systems. The company said the new contract calls for delivery of ballistic vests up to a total value around €180.000.000.

The FMV indicated it awarded the procurement contract to replenish and expand its armed forces’ current inventory of body armour. According to the FMV, high worldwide demand for body protection is outstripping most vest makers’ ability to keep pace. The FMV was understandably pleased that Mehler Vario System—a globally active manufacturer of protection and carrying systems for police, military, and special forces—could meet the agency’s requirements in terms not only of delivery timelines but also with regard to product quality and performance, said Thomas Homberg, Managing Director of Mehler Vario System GmbH and Mehler Vario System Group.

Canada Selects SIG for New Pistol

In what might be a new record, two different countries have awarded the same company a contract for their new service issue sidearm within a week of one another. That company is SIG SAUER and those countries are Canada and Australia.

The Canadian Department of National Defence has awarded a contract for the 9mm NATO C22 full frame modular pistol valued at $3.2 million (USD) and to M.D. Charlton Co. Ltd. of Victoria, B.C.

This contract is for an initial 7,000 SIG P320s and holsters to replace the aging Browning Hi-Powers currently in service. According to DND, additional options for up to 9,500 pistols will be available under the contract to cover the remaining requirements for the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Canadian Navy and Military Police. Pistol delivery is anticipated to begin in mid-2023.

Replacing the Browning 9mm with the C22 full frame modular pistol (Sig Sauer P320) will help ensure the continued operational readiness and effectiveness of all our members. This brings a conclusion to a very long process to identify a new pistol for the Canadian Armed Forces which goes back over a decade. More recently, after identifying a requirement for a modular pistol, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal upheld a dispute filed by Rampart International on behalf of Glock which slowed the process. Apparently, any issues have been overcome, clearing the way for the competition to proceed.

Canada joins the Australia, Denmark and the US in adopting the SIG SAUER P320 as their standard issue sidearm.

SMX Awarded Competitive $2.3B U.S. Africa Command ARIES Task Order

HERNDON, Va., Oct. 03, 2022 — SMX, a leader in Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), next-generation cloud, and advanced engineering and information technology (IT) solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a prime contract to continue its support of U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) ISR mission operations and intelligence analysis. With an estimated value of $2.3 Billion (inclusive of option periods), the task order, titled “AFRICOM Reconnaissance Intelligence Exploitation Services (ARIES),” was competed and awarded on GSA’s ASTRO Data Operations Pool contract (see https://aas.gsa.gov/astro/).

Over 30 companies were eligible to bid on the ARIES task order. Dedicated to equipping decision makers with accurate, relevant and timely intelligence information to achieve continued decision superiority across the vast and complex AFRICOM area of responsibility, this new award has a seven-year period of performance and will allow SMX and its teaming partners to extend their support through 2029 if all option periods are exercised.

ARIES, like its predecessor task order, is a complex, multi-tenant task order providing cutting-edge full lifecycle intelligence solutions through cloud-enabled data insights and decision analytics. ARIES’ objective is to improve the United States’ ability to observe, orient, decide and act faster and more effectively on the information provided through an innovative system of systems intelligence collection and dissemination eco-system.

DroneShield Announces $1.8 Million U.S. Department of Defense Contract

DroneShield is pleased to advise that it has received an $1.8 million contract for its DroneGun MKIII handheld counterdrone system from the United States Department of Defense (DoD).
 
Delivery will be completed this month, with full payment due to be received in the current quarter.

This follows a previous down selection of DroneGun MKIII for evaluation by the DoD’s Joint Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Office (JCO).

“It’s an honor to provide our DoD customers with advanced cUAS solutions to help address complex security requirements,” said Tom Branstetter, DroneShield’s Virginia-based Director of Business Development. “DroneShield is committed to delivering critical Force Protection technology that enables security personnel to rapidly respond to this growing threat,” Branstetter added.

This contract is the largest US sale by DroneShield to date, and follows several recently announced contracts by DroneShield, including the $2 million European sale of DroneSentry fixed site systems and the initial US airport deployment. The Company is also progressing active discussions on sales to Ukraine, following the initial deployment at the start of the war earlier this year.
