Latest Round of International Contract Highlights Speer’s Commitment to Excellence

LEWISTON, Idaho – February 14, 2017 – The French National Police recently awarded Speer with a long-term contract for its 124-grain, 9mm Luger Gold Dot Duty ammunition. This contract reflects the company’s industry-leading technologies and longstanding commitment to excellence.

“The French National Police are one of the world’s finest law enforcement agencies. We’re proud to provide Speer Gold Dot for their duty ammunition needs,” said Jason Nash, Senior Director of Marketing, “and are honored they selected us for this important contract.”

Gold Dot was the first handgun ammunition loaded with true, bonded-core bullets. Speer’s exclusive Uni-Cor construction process bonds the jacket to the alloyed lead core one atom at a time. This process virtually eliminates core-jacket separation while guaranteeing uniform jacket thickness for superior accuracy.

Each Gold Dot hollow-point cavity is tuned by caliber and bullet weight to ensure optimum expansion and penetration. Additional Gold Dot features include ultra-reliable CCI primers, plus high-powered, clean-burning propellants and nickel-plated brass cases for smooth function and extreme durability.

Headquartered in Lewiston, Idaho, Speer has a long-standing reputation for making the world’s finest bullets and in 1996 became one of the first U.S. ammunition manufacturers to achieve ISO 9001 certification for quality. The company manufactures a variety of bullets and cartridges for law enforcement, reloading and sporting applications.

A Quick Look At The Polish DROMADER Individual Equipment Program

Monday, February 12th, 2018

At the end of the recent article regarding Poland’s ongoing efforts of selecting a new camouflage pattern for its armed forces, there was a brief mention of the DROMADER individual equipment program, which is planned to be implemented, regardless of the final camouflage pattern chosen. Although info is limited, we did receive an update on the program regarding a consortium of PGZ companies which are being used to expand DROMANDER to include other specialist needs.

One such expansion is DROMADER-SF, which is aimed at police and army counter-terrorist units, images for which you can see above.

We were also provided with images detailing a comparison between DROMADER soldier with MSBS / GROT rifle in MAPA camo and a standard PL Soldier in wz. 93 camo, “Kandahar” vest and “BERYL” wz. 96. rifle.

SPARTANAT – Andres Industries AG is bringing Diamond Age to Europe

Monday, February 5th, 2018

Diamond-Age-759x500

Andres Industries AG, hitherto known for its highly innovative thermal imaging systems (TIMRO-X, TILO-3 see SPARTANAT Review), starts a cooperation with the US company Diamond Age for the development of ballistic protection systems and takes over its European distribution. Diamond Age has been intensively involved in the development of new materials for many years and specializes in the production of high-performance ceramics for armour-plating.

At the IWA and EnforceTac in March, the company will be presenting the BASTION helmet it announced last year. This is characterized by an unequaled bullet-resistance up to the range of rifles (VPAM 7). Although thin special panels are used for this purpose, the total weight of the helmet remains below 1.9kg, i. e. it weighs no more than a normal fragment protection helmet.

Diamond-Age-3

But even without the additional VPAM-7 panels, the helmet achieves the protection class VPAM 3 with a lower weight of only approx. 930g (shell weight). In the lightest combat-ready version, the helmet weighs only 1.15kg. Another special feature is the very low back face deformation of only one centimeter (0.39″) when firing handgun ammunition (NIJ Level IIIa). This extremely low value will become increasingly important in the future, as recent studies show that it is often not enough to stop projectiles. It is equally important that the depression on the helmet caused by the projectile does not lead to a serious skull injury.

Commenting on the new cooperation with Diamond Age, Andres Industries AG CEO, Björn Andres, said “For over a year we have been working intensively on ballistic protection systems and have built up a successful new business line. Most manufacturers, and we too, have so far been working mainly on new techniques to process existing materials better and better. We have found that we need to work more closely with developers of such materials because we need new and even better materials. With Diamond Age we have found such a partner. Where others stop at boron carbide, Diamond Age is just beginning.”

Polaris Government and Defense Announces Recent Contracts with Latvia and Turkmenistan

Polaris® Government and Defense Signs a Two-Year Agreement with Latvia

Minneapolis, January 24, 2018 –  Latvian National Armed Forces has entered a two-year agreement with Polaris Government and Defense for vehicles via the U.S. government’s foreign military sales program. The approximately US$500 thousand contract is for undisclosed quantities of the Polaris MRZR® 2 side-by-side vehicles, SPORTSMAN® 6×6 and MV850™ all-terrain vehicles. The contract also includes spare parts for the vehicles, as well as operator and maintenance training, which will be conducted in country by Polaris.

“Latvia’s contract for MRZR 2 and ATVs will greatly enhance the mobility of their fleet in the Baltics, positively impacting their tactical advantage and support efforts to reinforce Latvia borders,” stated Doug Malikowski, director of international business development, Polaris Government and Defense.

Over the years, Latvia has strengthened security on the border due to increased regional disputes. The Polaris ultralight and all-terrain vehicles will be used primarily for border security. Polaris military vehicles provide off-road mobility for expeditionary forces in the U.S. and more than 25 allied countries to meet current and future mission demands and threats. Polaris service ranges throughout the world, creating a high degree of interoperability and commonality among U.S. and allied forces, such as Latvia.

Polaris vehicles ensure flexibility and modularity to support the various ranging uses including: border patrol, rapid personnel deployment, command and control, casualty and evacuation and supply transport missions. The vehicles are proven, reliable, and easily maintained through the Polaris global network.

Turkmenistan Special Operation Forces Equipped with Polaris Vehicles

Minneapolis, January 24, 2018 – The Turkmenistan Special Operation Forces has awarded a multimillion-dollar contract to Polaris Government and Defense for military and commercial vehicles. The Polaris vehicles provide mobility options to their combat commanders to pose multiple dilemmas to the enemy.

“Polaris is looking forward to supporting the Government of Turkmenistan and their defense forces as they update their ground vehicle fleet with Polaris lightweight tactical vehicles,” said Doug Malikowski, director of international business development. “The vehicles we provide are highly transportable, off-road capable and are relied on for helping Special Forces navigate restrictive and complex environments.”

Polaris was also honored to have had its vehicles featured in the Turkmenistan Independence Day parade. Polaris Government and Defense has other military customers in Central Asia including Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Philippines, and Malaysia.

With seating for up to nine, DAGOR™ comprises the optimal balance of rapid air transportability, payload capacity and advanced mobility. DAGOR gives an advantage back to dismounted warfighters, allowing formations to move faster, carry more and significantly reduce combat fatigue. And its weight and size allow it to be internally transportable on a variety of in-service aircraft, including CH-47 and C-130.

The Polaris MRZR® platform is flexible and modular to support uses ranging from rapid personnel deployment, to command and control, casualty evacuation to supply transport missions. MRZRs have redefined ultralight, off-road mobility for military vehicles and are mission critical for expeditionary forces in the U.S. and allied countries.

The MV850™ is loaded with features which make it as comfortable as it is powerful. Operators experience less fatigue because the MV850 provides the smoothest, most responsive power steering available in an all-terrain vehicle, variable assist for easier steering and active descent control and engine breaking system work together to monitor and control descent and deceleration. A powerful engine, two fuel tanks and 270 kg (600 lbs) of total rack capacity make it optimal for long distances.

Polaris vehicles are proven, affordable, reliable and easily maintained throughout the lifecycle with a commercial supply chain and the Polaris global network. to meet current and future mission demands and threats. And because the vehicles are in service throughout the world, there is a high degree of interoperability and commonality among U.S. and allied forces.
