ZRODelta Announces the Gen 2 CIB

Friday, December 15th, 2017

For Immediate Release – Lubbock, Texas – ZRODelta is pleased to announce the release of the Gen 2 Cowl Induction Brake (CIB). The Gen 2 CIB comes to market with a sleek tapered design meeting 3 Gun competition requirements and achieves a recoil reduction of up to 72%.

BA7693E8-126A-485E-BE34-E48E0D8865EA

The patented internal geometry of the Gen 2 CIB efficiently redirects the potential energy of the high pressure expanding gases exiting the barrel, to effectively counteract forces of recoil. This internal geometry directs the gases at angles optimized for recoil reduction without a noticeable increase in sound to the shooter, which can’t be said for other induction brakes on the market. The Gen 2 CIB not only achieves an additional 10% recoil reduction over its Gen 1 predecessor, but does so at a reduced size and weight.

“After realizing such great results with the original CIB, I knew we had a lot of work ahead of us to create what is now the GEN 2 CIB,” said Mark Deros, Lead Designer. “The tapered, streamline outer dimension combined with the refined internal geometry, really takes the CIB to a whole new level.”

Survitec Group Goes Global by Adding Extra Engineers to Lifeboat Servicing Programme

Thursday, December 14th, 2017

Safety solutions provider Survitec is transforming its lifeboat services operation into a fully global offering with the addition of 14 extra engineers across a range of sites worldwide.

Customers ordering lifeboat services – along with all their other needs such as life rafts – can now enquire with their local branch, then have services delivered wherever they need globally.

The overhaul means it will now have engineers on the ground in five continents, supported by flying squads in the main global ports. Survitec previously sent engineers from the UK and Scandinavia round the world to conduct inspections, but the enhanced service will be quicker and more cost-effective for customers, as well being able to be booked locally.
Its existing team of more than 100 service engineers can already attend any location worldwide, but adding more operatives in additional locations will further improve the service for marine and offshore customers.

The enhanced proposition will be co-ordinated through one point of contact as opposed to multiple sites; reducing the administrative load for the customer. By providing services for all lifeboat brands and types, complexity is also reduced for users.

In addition to compliance with SOLAS regulations and conforming to the IMO (International Maritime Organisation) requirements, Survitec offers multi-brand inspection capabilities approved under Class and Flag.

Survitec carries Class approval – including DNV GL, Lloyds and ABS among others – and many Flag approvals including Panama, Malta, Norway and Liberia.

Survitec also has a renowned and well-developed re-hooking service, in line with the latest relevant IMO standards.

Paul Watkins, Regulatory & Compliance Manager at Survitec Group, said:

“We have always offered a global proposition, but these expansion plans give us an even larger footprint, which in turn offers operators greater peace of mind that we can reach them wherever they sail. Our cross-trained service agents can help companies improve their operational efficiency, not only saving them time and money, but also ensuring their statutory obligations are met. Customers can contact their local branch and the services can then be delivered wherever their ship is going to be globally.
“Our commitment to compliance and our position as a standard bearer for class approvals means that rather than reacting to regulatory changes, we are influential in helping to develop them. This expertise not only qualifies us to service any brand of life-saving appliance, but also means we can help companies no matter what their fleet requirements are.”

05617606-BE61-47D3-9008-291C5B609615

RECOIL OFFGRID Issue 23 went on sale December 1. This will be the last issue with Vuong at the helm. As the Southern California-based journalist announced in his final letter from the editor, he has resigned his position to become a freelance writer and consultant, and to spend more time with his family.

Vuong, who holds instructor ranks in multiple fighting systems, including Pekiti-Tirsia Kali, will also now be able to devote more time teaching. He will be spending more time with students and also consulting on matters of edged and contact distance weapons and self-defense – though he says this does not mean he will be abandoning his journalistic career.

A lifelong journalist, Vuong left a Managing Editor’s billet for a previous publication to join RECOIL in mid 2012 as Senior Editor. Working directly under Editor-in-Chief Iain Harrison, Vuong helped grow the nascent magazine from a dark horse brand in a dying print market to the No. 1 best-selling firearms lifestyle book on newsstands. In late 2013, Vuong took on an additional assignment as editor of RECOIL OFFGRID, a spin-off publication that focuses on emergency preparedness and urban survival. Under his tenure, that brand climbed to become the No. 1 best-selling survival magazine on newsstands.

During his five years at the RECOIL Network, both RECOIL and RECOIL OFFGRID were awarded numerous industry acknowledgements, including several Maggie Awards. Vuong wrote and photographed feature articles, directed and co-hosted segments on RECOILtv.com, and helped edit two successful, successive publications: CONCEALMENT and CARNIVORE.

Though no longer a staff editor, Vuong will continue to contribute to RECOIL, RECOIL OFFGRID, their sister publications, publishing companies, and other media outlets.

Vuong can be contacted directly via e-mail, Patrick@fluidfighting.com. Follow him on Instagram, @calmbatives.

GCI Outdoor Honors Fallen US Veterans, Donates Wreaths to Wreaths Across America

Sunday, December 10th, 2017

With a mission to Remember, Honor and Teach, Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath laying ceremonies at over 1,200 cemeteries worldwide

Higganum, Conn. (Wednesday, December 6) – GCI Outdoor, creators of portable, durable outdoor recreation equipment and furniture, is helping to honor fallen US veterans this holiday season with a generous donation of wreaths to the non-profit organization Wreaths Across America.

Saturday, December 16 is National Wreaths Across America Day where volunteers all over the country will lay wreaths on the graves of lost veterans. Founded in 2007 with a mission to Remember, Honor and Teach, Wreaths Across America will coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,200 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad.

“Supporting our veterans is very important to us so we’re doing this for all that have served and the brave ones who have lost their lives,” said Jeffrey Polke, co-president of GCI Outdoor. “The GCI Outdoor family would like to thank all U.S. veterans for their service and want everyone to know that we honor and respect all they have done to protect our freedoms! Peace be with you!”

With their headquarters in Higganum, CT, GCI’s donation will go to the nearby Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery and will help Wreaths Across America surpass their goal of 9,500 donated wreaths. Volunteers from the city as well as from the GCI Outdoor team will spend the day laying wreaths while remembering and honoring the fallen veterans.

Wreaths Across America started in 1992 when Morrill Worcester, owner of Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine, donated excess wreaths for placement at the Arlington National Cemetery. With help from Maine Senator Olympia Snowe, the Maine State Society of Washington, D.C. and volunteers from the local American Legion, VFW Posts, Wreaths Across America now enlists the help of over 60,000 volunteers who lay over 700,000 wreaths each year. You can learn more about their story here.

“We are not here to ‘decorate graves.’ We’re here to remember not their deaths, but their lives,” said Karen Worcester, Executive Director of Wreaths Across America.

Anyone can get involved with Wreaths Across America and more information on donation, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities can be found here and on the GCI Outdoor website.
