Palladyne AI and Red Cat Announce Successful Completion of Cross-Platform Collaborative Drone Flight

New testing milestone leverages three autonomous heterogeneous drone platforms for the first time

SALT LAKE CITY–Palladyne AI Corp. During this most recent testing, which leveraged Red Cat’s Teal 2 and Black Widow drones and the Palladyne™ Pilot AI software, each platform operated using onboard edge computing and constrained communication protocols without reliance on centralized infrastructure to communicate. The system enabled real-time, distributed detection and tracking of multiple dynamic and static ground objects—including humans and vehicles—in different regions of interest, providing a single operator with comprehensive situational awareness. The two companies previously announced a successful two-drone flight operation in January 2025, and Palladyne AI announced a single-drone testing scenario in December 2024 to autonomously identify, prioritize, and track terrestrial targets.

Rheinmetall Achieves Milestone in the Future-Oriented Field of Hydrogen – Major Order for Storage and Transport Systems in Sight from Renowned Supplier of Renewable Green Hydrogen

A major producer and supplier of renewable green hydrogen intends to place the first major order with the technology corporation Rheinmetall in the field of hydrogen storage and transport systems, with a contract volume in the mid double-digit million Euro range.
A corresponding letter of intent (LoI) for the framework contract in the mid double-digit million Euro range includes the delivery of one hundred multiple-element gas containers (MEGC) of various sizes. These MEGCs are used for transporting large quantities of technical gases such as hydrogen, and play a crucial role in the future climate-neutral energy supply. With the letter of intent, the technology corporation has reached an important milestone in the corporation’s relatively short history of MEGC development. The first MEGC is scheduled to be delivered at the beginning of 2026. The customer is a major European manufacturer and supplier of renewable green hydrogen.

Rheinmetall’s innovative Multiple-Element Gas Container is equipped with advanced Type-IV hydrogen pressure tanks that allow pressures of up to 700 bar. These pressure tanks are characterised by a shortened winding time, the reduced use of carbon fibres and an increased storage capacity. The system offers a convenient all-in-one solution which also includes a smart service and maintenance support. The scalable length is between 20-40 feet. The containers can hold up to 1,000 kg (380 bar) of hydrogen.

The National Hydrogen Strategy is aiming at making Germany climate-neutral by 2045 which, in accordance with the Strategy, will require a higher demand of hydrogen. Being the energy source of the future, hydrogen is therefore expected to play a key role in the future energy mix. In this context, the transportation of hydrogen, being an energy source, plays a crucial role in order to ensure an efficient and secure supply chain, especially for industrial customers. Rheinmetall’s MEGCs fully comply with the regulations for movement by all common modes of transport, such as road (ADR), rail (RID) and inland shipping (ADN), and ensure safety and efficiency in storage and transport. In addition, the corporation offers its own trailers for the safe transport of the containers.

The promising conversations currently being held with other potential customers emphasise Rheinmetall’s prospects of gaining a further foothold in the future-oriented hydrogen market with innovative solutions.

Within the Rheinmetall Corporation, the Power Systems division is a system supplier of high-quality and innovative (mobility) solutions, control technologies and digital applications for the automotive and energy industries. This includes balance-of-plant (BoP) components for hydrogen fuel cell systems as well as electrodes for electrolysers. The portfolio is being expanded to include hydrogen storage systems such as multiple-element gas containers (MEGCs). This expansion is a core element of Rheinmetall’s comprehensive hydrogen strategy, which aims at replacing fossil fuels with green hydrogen. GA-ASI Delivers MQ-9A Block 5 Extended Range UAS to USMC

New UAS Delivered to VMX-1

SAN DIEGO – 29 April 2025 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) delivered an MQ-9A Reaper® Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC). The new MQ-9A Block 5 Extended Range (ER) UAS was delivered on April 22, 2025, and will be operated by Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron 1 (VMX-1), a USMC operational test squadron based at Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona.

The new MQ-9A UAS will be used by the USMC to perform operational tests and evaluations, as well as create Marine Aviation tactics, techniques, and procedures through experimentation as the Marines fully implement MQ-9A as a critical part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF).

“The Marine Corps is building out its ISR capabilities with this new aircraft,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “We are excited to see what VMX-1 does in terms of operational test in preparation for pushing new capabilities into the field.”

The MQ-9A ER is designed with field-retrofittable capabilities, such as wing-borne fuel pods and reinforced landing gear, that extend the aircraft’s endurance to more than 30 hours while further increasing its operational flexibility. It provides long-endurance, persistent surveillance capabilities, with Full-Motion Video and Synthetic Aperture Radar/Moving Target Indicator/Maritime Mode Radar. An extremely reliable aircraft, MQ-9A ER is equipped with a fault-tolerant flight control system and a triple-redundant avionics system architecture. It is engineered to meet and exceed manned aircraft reliability standards.

To date, GA-ASI has delivered 18 MQ-9A UAS to USMC. The USMC awaits delivery of two additional aircraft by the end of this year.

WTF’s Hydro Zip-On Back Panel 74.1 is designed to securely mount a hydration bladder and other essentials to your Crye Precision SPC.  In addition to the main compartment, there are two loop lined pouches, two 2 x 3 PALS on either side, and 2 x 3 PALS on the bottom.  A VELCRO® Brand ONE-WRAP® loop as a universal bladder hanger for use with Source Kangaroo, WLPS, and ILPS bladder and CamelBak’s 70oz and 100oz short bladders. To discourage inadvertent separation from the carrier, zipper pull tabs tuck securely and silently into milspec elastic loops to prevent the slider from riding upward.

Back Panel 74.1 uses MIL-DTL-32439 500D nylon, A-A-55126 nylon hook & loop, A-A-59826 bonded nylon thread, MIL-W-5674.1 nylon elastic, A-A-55634 spec heavy duty zippers, and well compensated, skilled labor to produce a cost effective part.

Back Panel 74.1 for SPC (size medium) is lightweight at just 9.9oz / 280g (size medium).  Approx 6 liter volume (approx 4.5 liter main compartment, approx 1 liter in the larger pouch, and approx 0.5 liter in the smaller pouch).
