Mehler Vario System and Lindnerhof-Taktik, Both Companies of Mehler Vario System Group, to Exhibit Jointly at Future Forces 2022

Tuesday, September 27th, 2022

FULDA, GERMANY (26 Sept. 2022) – Mehler Vario System Group today announced that it will exhibit at the Future Forces 2022 international conference to be held 19-21 Oct. in Prague, Czech Republic.

Together, two of the Group´s companies, Mehler Vario System GmbH and Lindnerhof-Taktik GmbH, will showcase their latest jointly developed innovation, the M.U.S.T. ballistic protection-and-carrying system, which has been specifically designed for demanding mission scenarios of police and military forces.

Both companies will exhibit at booth 326 in Hall 3 of the PVA Expo centre. This is located at Beranov 667 in the Let?any district of Prague (and adjacent Prague Let?any Airport).

Mehler Vario System Group is a globally active manufacturer of ballistic protection and carrying systems for police, military, and special forces. Lindnerhof-Taktik, subsidiary of the group, is a producer of high-quality tactical equipment systems.

This will be the first time the two companies jointly exhibit at a Future Forces conference to collaboratively demonstrate product developments that go beyond the standard offerings on the market. Future Forces is an important major international event for the defence and security industries; the annual conference enjoys the official backing of the Czech Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces, Ministry of the Interior, Foreign Affairs and Trade, civil and military parts of the NATO HQ, European Defence Agency, and many other relevant national as well as international institutions, organisations, and agencies.

The novel system M.U.S.T. (short for Modular Universal Scalable Technology) is an interlocking modular system in which the individual protection and carrying components can be universally combined through intelligent interfaces so that they can be put together to meet the needs of almost any operational situation the user encounters.

“The special feature of the M.U.S.T. system is its almost infinitely variable scalability by the user for any application scenario due to its modular configuration,” said Thomas Homberg, CEO of Mehler Vario System Group. “The meticulous planning and sophisticated manufacturing processes that were involved have resulted in the system being both exceptionally lightweight and extremely durable.”

“Unlike conventional solutions, the final setup of the highly adaptable M.U.S.T. system is determined not by the supplier but by the customer. As with a construction kit, the customer decides which components are needed to produce a system perfect for the need of the moment. Every mission, every operation, is different so we leave it up to the operator to choose how to configure M.U.S.T and to choose the right components for it,” Lindnerhof-Taktik CEO Jakob Kolbeck added.

At Future Forces 2022, Mehler Vario System and Lindnerhof-Taktik will demonstrate the capabilities of the full M.U.S.T. system and spotlight some of the many possible configuration options.

Products using GORE-TEX Product Technology, GORE-TEX THERMIUM™ Insulation, GORE-TEX Stretch Product Technology, GORE-TEX PYRAD® Product Technology, and CHEMPAK® Product Technologies by GORE-TEX LABS will be on display at the GORE-TEX Professional booth #3609 during AUSA October 10 – 12, 2022 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. Among the products on display will be the cold and wet weather protective garments soon to be issued to the newest Army Division, the 11th Airborne Division based in Alaska.  This Cold and Wet layer uses GORE-TEX Product Technology and is a key component of the Cold Temperature and Arctic Protection System (CTAPS).

The Army selected GORE-TEX Product Technology for its proven ability to provide head-to-toe protection for the harshest conditions that warfighters experience.  The 3-layer waterproof breathable jacket and pants will be part of the initial issue of the Cold and Wet layer of CTAPS and provide the Army warfighter with tested waterproof, windproof, breathable protection to deliver a decisive edge for extended operations in extreme conditions. The CTAPS program objective is to improve the Soldiers’ survivability, mobility, and lethality potential in the fewest number of clothing layers with increased utility that allow Soldiers to configure the clothing protection to match their activity in any environmental conditions from -65 to 45F.

GORE-TEX THERMIUM™ Insulation leverages silica aerogel – the world’s best solid insulator – to provide unparalleled warmth without adding bulk. GORE-TEX THERMIUM™ Insulation can be used to provide a fully insulated cold weather boot, as deployed in the Army Cold Weather Combat Boot Program (-20F to +20F), or strategically integrated into a specific area to extend the temperature utilization range of the combat boot like in ALTAMA APEX boot.

ALTAMA APEX boot also showcases our most breathable GORE-TEX laminate, and a new Michelin sole to offer the most versatile combat boot that is suitable for all-season wear.

GORE-TEX Stretch Fabric Technology combines the highest level of protection with optimized comfort to deliver protection in the most demanding environments. Building on the recognized performances of durable waterproof, windproof, and breathability, GORE-TEX stretch fabric technology offers additional benefits: reduced thermal burden, high agility and mobility, and improved equipment integration. This is achieved through an adaptive fit that reduces air gaps and leads to a more optimized design with less bulk. The fabric also delivers high flexibility in cold climates and noise reduction. The stretch ePTFE membrane technology enables the design and construction of garments to have a more tailored fit, which improves the garment’s evaporative resistance and increases breathability by 25%. At the GORE-TEX booth, visitors will see Stretch garments displayed under and over body armor/kit to demonstrate this evolutionary laminate capability in a breathable, packable, and lightweight Cold and Wet layer.

Garments designed with GORE-TEX PYRAD® technology provide heat, flame, and flash-fire protection for defense personnel. To highlight this technology at AUSA, the GORE-TEX booth will display a burned garment side-by-side with a non-burned garment. Gore will also speak to the versatile technology that offers the durable waterproof, windproof, and breathable protection you would expect of GORE-TEX products, while also providing some of the lightest weight, low bulk, flame-resistant garments on the market. Building on Gore’s history of leveraging technology and science to improve comfort and functionality, GORE-TEX PYRAD® Fabric Technology advances performance while maintaining protection. Products made with GORE-TEX PYRAD® Fabric Technology are breathable, lightweight, and flexible, and offer improved comfort during the most demanding tasks as demonstrated in the Army’s Fuel Handler Suit which will be on display. The fabrics also pick up less water and dry faster than alternative flame-resistant fabrics.

Exposure to hazardous chemicals and biological substances can be life-threatening for warfighters. To provide protection, lightweight CHEMPAK® Fabric Technology by GORE-TEX LABS guard against toxic industrial chemicals, non-traditional and chemical warfare agents, and biological and radiological particulate hazards. During AUSA, learn how two material technologies, CHEMPAK® selectively permeable fabric by GORE-TEX LABS and CHEMPAK® ultra barrier fabric by GORE-TEX LABS, are engineered to meet specific user needs based on unique mission sets.

Hydrogen Strategy: Rheinmetall Presents Solutions in South Africa for Producing, Storing and Transporting Green Hydrogen

Monday, September 26th, 2022

At this year’s Africa Aerospace & Defence (AAD) expo at AFB Waterkloof in Centurion, the technology enterprise Rheinmetall AG is presenting innovative, turnkey, mobile modular solutions for producing, storing and transporting CO2-free hydrogen. The mobile solution offered by Group subsidiary Rheinmetall Denel Munition in South Africa assures climate-neutral energy security for stationary and mobile infrastructure in civil and industrial settings as well as for expedition and outdoor applications. Suitable for use in undeveloped terrain, it does not require an external power supply. Moreover, because the system can simultaneously produce oxygen, it offers an all-encompassing solution for mobile field hospitals. Armed with this technology, Rheinmetall is not only expanding its civil sector operations as part of its hydrogen strategy: the Group’s plant engineering skills have put it on the path to becoming an energy producer.

The concept is based on electrolysis technology, in which water molecules are separated into hydrogen and oxygen. The electricity necessary for this is produced with solar panels, making it CO2-free. Wind and Hydropower can also be used to produce the required electricity. The green hydrogen produced in this way is gaseous, meaning that can be stored indefinitely and transported anywhere worldwide.

Developed by Rheinmetall, all the components of this modular system can be combined into a fixed stationary system mode as well as into mobile applications of various scopes. With larger mobile set-ups, such as field hospitals, the conversion of solar power, electrolysis, storage of the hydrogen produced, and fuel cell based electrical generation takes place in separate containers. The necessary modules can all be concentrated in a single container, operated by solar panels for producing electricity as well as water, thus further enhancing its potential for mobile operations. Mobile production of green hydrogen lends itself to industrial, private and expedition contexts as a means of generating power and heat. Byproducts such as oxygen can either be used for their own requirements or sold into the global commodity market. Basically speaking, the hydrogen produced by the system can either be kept in situ or transported to a different destination, meaning that it can be stored at a distant location for subsequent use.

Production volume can be tailored to meet individual requirements. A container solution consisting of four standard sea containers can supply power for 30 to 40 households. The different systems, whether for tent cities, field hospitals, or stationary solutions, enable not just the production of green hydrogen as a future energy source, but also self-sufficiency and maximum mobility in undeveloped places or in off-grid commercial applications where electricity is lacking.

This technology solves one of the great problems of the Energy Revolution, the ability to store and transport energy. But it is also a sustainable, secure source of power, including in undeveloped areas. As well as expanding Rheinmetall’s portfolio as a reliable energy partner, this modular system adds a further element to its hydrogen strategy: a self-sufficient, customizable, mobile solution. The Group now offers solutions for completely solar-powered energy production. It is also a global supplier of green hydrogen and complete turnkey solutions as well as large-scale stationary H2 factories in addition to the mobile modular solutions outlined above.

At its locations in South Africa, Rheinmetall offers turnkey industrial solutions for renewable energy, extending from the initial concept to final commissioning, coupled with full lifecycle support, training, maintenance, and operator models. Regardless of the individual use, key objectives here include cutting carbon emissions, gaining independence from energy suppliers, and adapting to the needs of the user, while simultaneously assuring low maintenance costs and adequate scope for meeting individual customer requirements.

The African Aerospace and Defence Exposition takes place every two years at AFB Waterkloof in Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa. A combined trade fair and air show, AAD Expo runs from 21 to 25 September 2022.

SK Customs Launches “Premier Presidente” as the Second Edition in the Mexican War of Independence Series

Monday, September 26th, 2022

HAYMARKET, VA – September 16, 2022 – SK Customs® continues to honor Mexico’s Independence by launching “Premier Presidente,” a tribute to Mexico’s first President, Guadalupe Victoria. As a limited-edition production run of only 200 Full Size Government Model Colt 1911 chambered in 38 Super, the pistol marks the second edition of the Mexican War of Independence Series.

Serving as a general, deputy, senator and governor, Guadalupe Victoria, born Miguel Fernández y Félix in 1812, was a George Washington-type man of great character and integrity. “Guadalupe” stems from his dedication to the Virgin of Guadalupe while “Victoria” marks his desire to succeed in Victory in the fight for independence.

Each side of the firearm includes a beautiful custom scroll. The left displays a depiction of the Virgin of Guadalupe, borders of floral patterns that frame a dramatic illustration of Victoria at the battle in Juego de Pelota and a banner declaring him “Benemérito de la Patria,” meaning “Benefactor of the Homeland.”

The right side of the firearm features Victoria’s sword being thrown across a moat that insurgent soldiers did not dare cross including the quote, “Va mi espada en prenda, voy por ella,” translated as, “There goes my sword as pledge, I’m going for it!” Guadalupe Victoria courageously swam across the moat and cut the rope of a bridge to allow the troops into the city. The rear panel marks a symbolic coat depicted from The Constitution of 1824, which transformed Mexico into a federal republic.

The top of the slide presents a portrait of Victoria in uniform naming him “Premier Presidente de México, Guadalupe Victoria.” The area in front of the rear sight depicts the Coat of Arms of the Mexican Federal Republic by decree in 1823 Eagle, and below sits the cross from the Presidential Coat of Arms.

SK Customs® is extremely proud to commemorate this rich piece of history. This custom gun’s frame, slide, barrel and hardware are all highly polished and feature silver plating in select areas of the slide and hardware components. This historical masterpiece is made complete with Pearlite grips presenting the silver emblem of the iconic Rampant Colt as well as a special engraved edition number.

TRC Outdoors Tiger Stripe Bush Hats

Monday, September 26th, 2022

trcoutdoors.com/product/bush-hat

By popular demand, our Bush Hats are now available in Tiger Stripe!

The Bush, or Boonie, Hat is beloved of soldiers everywhere. It’s a very practical and comfortable bit of headgear.

One thing you find is that soldiers will take the item they are issued and modify it according to their own needs. We’ve taken some of the most common modifications made to issued headgear, as well as the recommendations for alterations from the British Army Jungle School, and rolled them all into one product.

The hat itself has a 4cm brim which keeps the sun off of your eyes and/or face without blocking or channelling your field of view. It also won’t obstruct weapon optics

We’ve made the top of the hat out of the same tough mesh as our Timmy Hats so that your head is protected from the sun, but can still vent heat.

There’s a tie -on loop under the brim at the back of the hat so that you can dummy cord it to your clothing or gear to make sure you don’t lose it.

The cord to hold it in place is of a generous length so that you can wear it either under your chin or behind your head.

Finally, inside the hat there is a hi-viz band for IFF when you’re working in dense bush. Ideal for the RE-ORG or for hunting.

Also available in Multicamo or Night Camo.

Founders First CDC to Award $25,000 to Veteran-Owned Small Business Owners Throughout the Country

Applications Are Being Accepted September 19 to October 18 and Recipients Will be Announced on Veterans Day, November 11, 2022

San Diego, CA, September 19, 2022 – Founders First CDC (Founders First), a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that empowers expansion in diverse founder-led, revenue-generating businesses, is pleased to announce that applications are open for qualified individuals to apply to its 2022 Stephen L. Tadlock Fund – a grant program to support U.S. veteran small business owners. To be eligible, the company’s founder must be a U.S. military veteran, have an active U.S.-based business, and employ between 2 and 50 employees. Applications are being accepted now through October 18, with recipients being announced on Veterans Day, November 11, 2022.

Inspired by Founders First CEO Kim Folsom’s brother, U.S. Navy Veteran Stephen L. Tadlock, the purpose of the grant is to provide micro-investments to veterans who own and operate small businesses. The $25,000 grant will be awarded to 25 veteran recipients who will receive $1,000 each, which will help aid in their employer-based small businesses. Since launching, Founders First CDC has awarded more than $423,000 to minority and underserved business owners throughout the United States with a focus on Texas, Chicago, Southern California, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

“Given the current state of our economy, small business owners are feeling the brunt of the rising cost of living, inflation and the challenges to provide goods and services for their customers,” says Shaylon Scott, executive director, Founders First CDC. “As our founder, Kim Folsom has strong ties to the military through her brother’s service in the U.S. Navy, this particular grant is incredibly special to Founders First, as we’re able to help veteran business owners by investing in their businesses during uncertain economic times. Grants such as these, no matter how large or small of an investment, are a vital and impactful way to help sustain businesses and provide growth opportunities, and we are incredibly proud to support veterans throughout the country during this critical time.”

According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau’s survey of small business owners, there are more than 2.5 million veteran majority-owned businesses in the U.S. that employ more than 5 million individuals. As a result, these businesses generate a revenue of more than $1.14 trillion, and account for an annual payroll of $195 billion.

“I’ve seen firsthand through my brother’s experience in the U.S. Navy and reentry into civilian life, that American veterans give back to our country each and every day, and following their service it’s critical that they receive support from family, friends and local communities to thrive in their careers following their service,” says Kim Folsom, Founder and CEO of Founders First. “As veteran owned businesses are critical contributors to the small business community, I’m proud extend this fund for the second year in a row to veteran business owners who need the extra boost of funding; as these funds help aid in creating premium wage jobs and drive economic growth in communities, which need it most during this critical, and uncertain economic time.”

The judging committee for the Stephen L. Tadlock Grant includes a panel of distinguished veterans, representing multiple branches of service.

“As a recipient of the 2021 Stephen L. Tadlock Grant, I can tell you first-hand that having this support is incredibly impactful for veteran business owners.,” says Tahjar Roamartinez, CEO and founder of Cyber Warfighter Group and 2021 Stephen L. Tadlock Grant recipient.  “Founders First made myself and other veterans feel embraced, encouraged, equipped and empowered, and I encourage any veteran who is a small business owner to apply for this grant, as you will quickly learn that Founders First understands the value of what we’ve done at the highest level of our nation, and is ready to help equip us for the next chapter of our journey in corporate America.”

Qualified business owners may apply for the grant by October 18, at foundersfirstcdc.org/stephen-tadlock.  Grant recipients will be announced on Veterans Day, November 11, 2022.
