HII Unveils REMUS 620 Unmanned Underwater Vehicle

Enhanced Endurance, Mission Capacity and Odyssey™ Advanced Autonomy

MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 07, 2022 — HII’s (NYSE: HII) Mission Technologies division has revealed a new medium-class unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV): REMUS 620.

Building on the design philosophy of the highly successful REMUS 300 — recently selected by the U.S. Navy as the program of record for the Lionfish Small UUV — the REMUS 620 has a battery life of up to 110 hours and a range of 275 nautical miles, providing unmatched mission capabilities for mine countermeasures, hydrographic surveys, intelligence collection, surveillance and electronic warfare.

“Retaining a forward strategic advantage requires the ability to deliver a multitude of effects from under the sea,” said Duane Fotheringham, president of Mission Technologies’ Unmanned Systems business group. “The REMUS 620 is the first medium UUV designed to accurately deliver this range of advanced above-and-below water effects at long range.”

Built to support current and next-generation naval and special operations forces operations, REMUS 620 features a modular, open architecture design to facilitate seamless payload integration and HII’s Odyssey™ suite of advanced autonomy solutions for intelligent, robotic platforms.

REMUS 620 is the same size and weight of the first and only full-rate production medium UUVs: the MK 18 Mod 2, Littoral Battleship Sensing-Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (LBS-AUV) and LBS-Razorback systems operated by the U.S. Navy’s Mine Countermeasure Squadrons, U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office and Submarine Forces, respectively.

Multiple REMUS 620s operating collaboratively can be deployed from submarines, small manned or unmanned boats, amphibious ships, surface combatants and helicopters. REMUS 620 can also be used as a platform to launch and operate other unmanned vehicles or payloads from beneath the sea.

Energy
REMUS 620 is equipped with multiple batteries capable of 110 hours and a range of 275 nautical miles per mission, which provides unmatched multi-day endurance, range and stealth. The increased REMUS battery life enables the UUV to execute a significantly longer route to and from a mission area than previously afforded by medium-class vehicles. The energy modules are swappable, allowing for quick turnaround and incorporation of alternative energy sources as they become available.

Intelligence
REMUS 620 is built with modern core electronics, navigation and communication systems, and the vehicle’s open architecture can now be enhanced with HII Odyssey™, a suite of advanced autonomy solutions for intelligent, robotic platforms. The vehicle includes the new Odyssey Mission Management Software.

Multi-Mission
REMUS 620 standard synthetic aperture sonar payload can be replaced or enhanced for multi-mission capabilities, including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and cyber and electronic warfare operations.

REMUS 620 builds on the success of HII’s REMUS platforms, with 30 years of innovation and delivery of more than 600 UUVs to 30 countries worldwide, including 14 NATO member countries. The scientific community will also benefit from the payload flexibility and variety of environmental sensors that can be easily added to the base vehicle.

“Challenges faced by police and armed-forces units when they go out in numbing cold weather include loss of mental concentration and—if they’ve bundled up in a conventional winter jacket—overheating during times of heavy exertion,” said Armin Wagner, UF PRO head of development. “The Delta AcE Plus Gen.3 Winter Jacket is the solution for those challenges. “Conventional winter jackets make you feel colder when the garments become wet from snow or freezing rain,” he explained. “That doesn’t happen with the Delta AcE Plus Gen.3 Winter Jacket. Its 100-percent nylon face fabric with a breathable PU membrane is windproof and highly water-repellent. Additionally, our proprietary detachable air/pac® system in the shoulders and back prevents the formation of inside-the-garment thermal bridges that otherwise would allow cold to penetrate to your skin—and it works even if it does happen to get wet, which is hard to do in part because we’ve used 80g G-LOFT® thermal insulation material throughout the jacket’s sleeves to wick away and manage body-generated vapor or moisture that might contribute to feeling cold.”

Wagner cited another shortcoming of conventional winter jackets: their bulkiness.

“Bulk impedes free movement,” he said. “If you’re wearing a bulky jacket, you lose agility, which in turn degrades your mission performance. Not so with the Delta AcE Plus Gen.3 Winter Jacket. Its hybrid design results in a garment that facilitates free movement.”

The Delta AcE Plus Gen.3 Winter Jacket also eliminates the need to switch between light and heavy jackets as the weather changes, Wagner indicated.

(NASDAQ: POWW, POWWP) (“AMMO” or the “Company”) the owner of GunBroker.com, the largest online marketplace serving the firearms and shooting sports industries, and a leading vertically integrated producer of high-performance ammunition and components, today announced that it has reached a settlement agreement (the “Agreement”) with Steven Urvan and Susan Lokey (collectively, the “Urvan Group”).

Pursuant to the Agreement, the Company will appoint Christos Tsentas and Wayne Walker to the AMMO Board of Directors (the “Board”). Mr. Tsentas is a former investment banker with M&A and investment management experience, who also possesses firearms accessories manufacturing board experience. Mr. Walker is a corporate governance expert with significant public company experience and more than 35 years of experience in corporate turnarounds. Messrs. Tsentas and Walker will stand for election at the Company’s 2022 Annual Meeting of Shareholders (the “Annual Meeting”), which is scheduled for December 15, 2022. With the appointments, AMMO’s Board will increase in size to nine directors.

The Board will immediately form a new committee tasked with planning for CEO succession with the assistance of a nationally recognized search firm. Further, given market conditions and shareholder feedback, the Company will suspend the separation of its ammunition and marketplace businesses into two independent publicly traded companies.

The Company has also ended its previously announced internal investigation into Mr. Urvan and Ms. Lokey. Mr. Urvan will remain on the Board.

Moreover, the Agreement includes customary standstill and related provisions. The full agreement between AMMO and the Urvan Group will be filed by the Company on a Form 8-K with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Company will file its definitive proxy statement and other relevant documents in due course.
Shareholders do not need to take any action at this time.

AirBoss Defense Group Receives $40.6 Million in Orders for Husky 2G Vehicles

New Contracts Will Support User Survivability, Route Clearance and Threat Detection

JESSUP, Md., Nov. 07, 2022 — AirBoss Defense Group (“ADG”), a subsidiary of AirBoss of America Corp. (“AirBoss”) today announced that it continues to build business momentum with a $35 million order for ten (10) Husky 2G counter-improvised explosive device (“C-IED”) vehicles. The vehicles will be equipped with a full complement of detection systems and periphery subsystems including ground penetrating radar (“GPR”), M20 Interrogation Arms, Rollover Detection Systems, thermal cameras and RPG-defeat netting. ADG is also responsible for providing comprehensive operator and maintainer training as well as spare parts and sustainment supplies to the customer. Delivery of the vehicles will take place over the next 16 months.

Furthermore, ADG, through its partner, DCD Protected (“DCD”), will be providing three (3) Husky 2G C-IED vehicles, peripheral detection and survivability systems to support a customer in West Africa, valued at up to $5.6 million. ADG and DCD will also be providing spare parts and sustainment supplies as well as comprehensive operator and maintainer training. This contract, with deliveries taking place over the next six months, will provide a critical, best-in-class route clearance and threat detection and interrogation capability that will aid in the ongoing war on terror and efforts to counter a growing extremist threat in the region.

Aimpoint Awarded Fire Control Systems Contract for Canada

MALMÖ, Sweden – Aimpoint, the leading manufacturer and innovator of red dot sighting technology, has been awarded a contract for supply of the Aimpoint® FCS13-RE Fire Control System and TH-60 thermal sight systems to the Canadian military. The system will be used on deployed operations as the primary day and night Fire Control System (FCS) on Canada’s in-service M3 84mm Carl Gustaf produced by SAAB Dynamics. The contract was awarded through Twenty20 Insight Inc.

The FCS13-RE is a direct view, Dynamic Universal Reflex Sight, which utilizes an integrated laser range finder and ballistic computer to give the gunner an aiming point corrected for range, type of munition, terrain angle, and environmental conditions. The FCS13-RE provides a very high probability of first shot hit on both stationary and moving targets at extended ranges and utilizes a very intuitive user control interface. The system purchased by Canada MOD includes the TH-60 thermal imaging sight to allow full operational capability at night.

A proven system delivered to other NATO militaries, the Aimpoint FCS13-RE and TH-60 system was chosen for this program as it fully met or exceeded all of Canada’s strict technical performance requirements.

The FCS package being delivered will: more than double the effective range of the in-service M3 84mm Carl Gustaf; greatly increase first shot hit percentage; and make the weapon system fully day and night capable” said A.J. Deliveries of the Aimpoint FCS13-RE and TH-60 are scheduled for 2023. The system will be fielded by the Canadian Army.
