RCBS Launches New and Improved Reloading App

RCBS App for iOS and Android Puts More Precision at Shooters’ Fingertips

OROVILLE, Calif. – September 28, 2021 – RCBS®, the leading manufacturer of ammunition reloading equipment for rifles and pistols, is pleased to announce the launch of its new and improved RCBS app, now available to download free for both Apple and Android devices.

The recently released app goes above and beyond with the ability to work across the entire lineup of RCBS Bluetooth-enabled dispensers: MatchMaster, ChargeMaster Supreme and ChargeMaster Link. With the app at a user’s fingertips, calibrating any of these dispensers is a breeze.

Once calibrated, a user can go straight to dispensing, entering in powder information and required dispensation weights. When paired with the MatchMaster, dispensing can be completely customized as well. Each loading session provides intelligent feedback, including notations on over- and under-charges, length of the session, and number of charges thrown, all of which aids the shooter during future loading sessions.

At the range, the RCBS app’s “Load Log” tracks the progress of your reloading / handloading process. Start by creating a firearm profile with make, model, cartridge, round count, rate of twist, scope manufacturer, scope height, free-bore length and any other data that might affect accuracy. Then create a new load profile, entering critical load data such as:
• Bullet manufacturer, model, weight and dimensions
• Powder charge weight and dispenser device information
• Powder manufacturer, type, lot number, production date and date the container was first opened
• Primer manufacturer and type
• Case manufacturer, trim-to length, neck thickness, overall length, annealing temperature and time, total firings per case, and total firings per case between annealings

The app also allows a shooter to enter range conditions including range name, date, temperature, humidity, elevation, barometric pressure, latitude and longitude, and wind (cardinal wind direction, clock wind direction and wind speed). From there it’s all about shooting and recording groups. Users can upload photos – groups, changes to cases post-firing, etc. – for future reference. With the virtual “Reloading Bench,” users can also keep track of all their RCBS products.

New Scepter Duramax Diesel Fuel Container Launched at IBEX

MIAMI, OKLA. – Scepter™, a leader in the fuel container industry, has introduced a Duramax 14-gallon fuel caddy meant especially for diesel fuels. Launched during the 2021 IBEX, the Scepter Flo n Go Duramax 14-Gallon Fuel Caddy features a patented pump handle that looks just like the ones used at gas stations. In addition, the dependable container has sturdy wheels, making it easy to transfer diesel fuel to any location.

The Duramax pump handle includes both a spill-proof shut-off and a child lock for added safety. The unit has a flow rate of two gallons of fuel per minute when in the siphon mode, making it ideal for transferring diesel fuel in a variety of situations.

“This Duramax container has two brass shut off valves,” says Melissa Obradovic with Scepter. “There’s one at the tank and one at the hose. This allows for easy disconnect with no fuel spillage. Introducing the New K Series of Kilo Rangefinders from SIG SAUER

The new KILO10K-ABS HD 10×42 mm laser rangefinding binocular and KILO8K-ABS 7×25 mm laser rangefinding monocular, both with BDX 2.0, are the latest in the new K series of KILO rangefinders.

The KILO10K-ABS HD has a maximum reflective range of 10,000 yards while the KILO8K-ABS has a maximum reflective range of 8,000 yards. Both include Applied Ballistics Elite (BDX Elite) along with onboard environmental sensors and a digital compass as well as support for BDX External (BDX-X) for connecting to external devices such as Kestrel and Garmin device. In addition, they integrate with BaseMap to provide remote waypoints on ranged targets and can be fully configured with the SIG SAUER BDX App.

The new Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting graphic display provides all relevant ballistic information such as range to target, elevation holdover, wind hold, energy on target and velocity at target distance.

Aptima Receives USSOCOM Contract for Holistic Sleep Optimization and Remediation Platform

RESTORE aims to enhance a warfighter’s ability to achieve the restorative effects of sleep through innovative restoration technologies and personalized regimens.

July 28th, 2021—Woburn, MA— Aptima, Inc. announced today that it has received a contract valued at up to $1.29 million from the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), to develop RESTORE: Restorative & Efficient Sleep Technologies for Optimizing Operator Resiliency and Effectiveness, a holistic sleep optimization and remediation platform.

About one-third of a human being’s life is spent sleeping, the need for sleep is an undeniable biological imperative, however, methods for reducing amounts of sleep without long-term negative effects remain elusive.

Sleep issues are prevalent across all the Services, including USSOCOM

Adults need at least six, ideally seven to nine, hours of sleep within a 24-hour period to perform at peak efficiency. Military operations, particularly in the Special Operations Forces (SOF) domain, are unpredictable and do not lend themselves to a tidy 24-hour period. Furthermore, sleep issues can persist after returning home from overseas combat or training deployments, for both SOF and non-SOF personnel.

Aptima and partners at West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, Oura Health Ltd., and Fusion Sport, will develop a holistic sleep optimization and remediation platform that will provide restorative sleep solutions throughout an operator’s entire deployment cycle, through training, recovery, and deployment. RESTORE leverages existing technologies that can optimize or remedy sleep in controlled settings, narrowed down to the three most

effective and practical technologies: the enhancement of slow-wave sleep activity via auditory stimulation, photobiomodulation (PBMT) therapy, and floatation therapy. The platform packages these technologies so that they can be used when they are needed most. RESTORE employs a cyclical sense-assess-augment taxonomy for optimizing human effectiveness. The first sense component of the RESTORE platform is a measurement strategy that collects data on current sleep patterns, including objective measurement techniques such as polysomnography (PSG) for laboratory studies, wearable commercial sleep monitors for applied applications, and subjective measures such as sleep scales and other smartwatch-based survey methods.

The platform intelligently and securely fuses human state assessment data with enviornmental factors to get a complete picture of the user’s sleep and subsequently deliver tailored sleep recommendations via personalized sleep regimens and cutting-edge, empirically validated technological interventions.

Despite RESTORE being developed to address military needs, Aptima’s Business Development team sees a great deal of potential for RESTORE to address the needs of a wide array of consumers in commercial markets who are prone to sleep disruptions such as collegiate/professional athletics, business travelers, on-call physicians, parents of newborns, etc.…

RCBS Continues Support of National 4-H Shooting Sports Program

Shoot Like A Girl Continues Hunt Like A Girl Contest in Partnership with Beretta USA

ATHENS, Ala. – September 23, 2021 – Shoot Like A Girl has partnered with Beretta USA to host the Hunt Like A Girl™ Contest that will provide one lucky winner the opportunity to participate in a guided waterfowl hunt in El Campo, Texas, November 15-18, 2021. This contest will give one entrant, who is new to hunting or who has never hunted before, the chance to experience the fall waterfowl season for the first time with an all-female team from Shoot Like A Girl and Beretta. The winner will also receive a gear prize pack from the hunt sponsors. This experience is the third and final of the three hunts planned in partnership with Beretta in 2021.

Contest Details

For the chance to win a hunt of a lifetime, entrants must complete the online entry form in its entirety and nominate either a friend or themselves for the grand prize by submitting a brief “essay” detailing the reason for the nomination within a 1000 character limit. Shoot Like A Girl and Beretta will read all submissions carefully. After the conclusion of the essay entries, the top ten (10) will be selected and voting will open for seven (7) days to select the winner. Entrants or nominees must be 21 years of age or older at the time of entry, must be a legal resident of the United States and have no criminal background (background checks will be conducted for grand-prize winner). The winner will also be required to sign a model release form, so that any photos or video from the hunt can be used online.
