Unity Tactical Cold Weather Liner Is In Stock and Shipping Now!

Tuesday, January 29th, 2019

The Cold Weather Liner (CWL) is designed to install in any helmet with Velcro pads.  By integrating directly into the helmet, the CWL creates a barrier against the elements with micro fiber fleece that keeps the wearer’s head warm. The material thickness creates minimal or no displacement of pads that can cause the helmet to not ride properly, as is the case while wearing a standard beanie under the shell.  This ensures correct shell coverage of the head, alignment of night vision goggles, and fitting of communications gear.

Operator comfort is increased exponentially by providing more coverage to exposed areas under the helmet shell with dual layer fleece while the same pads that normally contact the head will continue to do so with the CWL installed.

Henry Schein To Expand Its Medical Group With Acquisition Of North American Rescue

Saturday, January 26th, 2019

Gains new global defense and public-safety customers, and new portfolio of proprietary medical products

MELVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC), the world’s largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health, and medical practitioners, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire approximately 93 percent of North American Rescue (NAR), the leading provider of survivability and casualty-care medical products to the defense and public-safety markets.

Founded in 1996 by CEO Bob Castellani, NAR is headquartered in Greer, South Carolina, and has 105 full-time team members. With nearly 60% of its sales to the U.S. government, NAR generated record sales for the 12 months ended October 31, 2018, of approximately $184 million, reflecting a diversified portfolio of proprietary medical products. This transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019, at which time Mr. Castellani will continue in his role as CEO. NAR will be integrated with Henry Schein Medical, the U.S. medical business of Henry Schein, Inc.

Henry Schein expects NAR will be neutral to the Company’s 2019 earnings per share and accretive thereafter. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“NAR is a successful, growing company with an exceptional team that has created the recognized leader in the markets the company serves,” said Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Henry Schein. “We are delighted to welcome Bob Castellani and NAR to Team Schein, and we look forward to expanding our Medical group’s geographic footprint, customer base, and product offering both in the U.S. and overseas. Furthermore, through this transaction, Henry Schein Medical will be well-positioned to benefit from a business with solid growth and attractive profit margins.”

NAR serves all branches of the U.S. military; various U.S. military departments and federal agencies; militaries of allied foreign countries; federal, state, and local law enforcement departments; emergency medical service providers and fire departments; and community preparedness organizations, including school districts and commercial and community centers. The company specializes in providing products to treat and overcome the three most common causes of preventable combat deaths, namely hemorrhaging, tension pneumothorax, and inadequate airway. NAR offers online education and training, which complements Henry Schein’s commitment to provide continuing education tailored to a customer’s specific needs.

“NAR offers a unique value proposition,” Mr. Bergman added. “The company’s ability to provide tailored, mission-enabling survivability products is critical to countering the rapidly evolving threats of the 21st century. We look forward to expanding our customer base, as well as to selling new, innovative, life-saving products and supplies that will keep us at the forefront of critically important military and civilian markets.”

This investment offers multiple areas for growth and potential business synergies for both NAR and Henry Schein Medical. For NAR, this includes the combined ability to expand market share in the growing public safety market place, as well as the ability to sell more Henry Schein Medical and Henry Schein-branded products through NAR’s existing channels. Additionally, NAR will have access to Henry Schein’s broad product offering.

“NAR has enjoyed considerable business success over the past 20 years and our future is bright by having access to the resources, expertise, and global presence of Henry Schein,” said Mr. Castellani. “NAR is South Carolina-grown, and it is extremely gratifying to reinvest in our community and grow the local economy by retaining 100-plus NAR employees and by investing in the next year to increase capacity at our facilities.”

Mr. Castellani also expressed his wishes to continue championing causes that seek solutions to a range of societal issues. This commitment mirrors that of Henry Schein, whose global corporate social responsibility program, Henry Schein Cares, works to “help health happen” for underserved communities around the world.

Persistent Systems And Partners Launch Wave Relay Ecosystem

Friday, January 25th, 2019

Wave Relay® Ecosystem is first industry alliance to deliver a networked battlefield to the warfighter

NEW YORK, N.Y.— Persistent Systems, LLC (“Persistent”) announced today the launch of the Wave Relay® Ecosystem, an alliance of unmanned systems and sensor companies working together to deliver a true networked battlefield to warfighters.

Ecosystem partners, such as Insitu (a Boeing Company), QinetiQ North America, Endeavor Robotics, MartinUAV, and many more, are building products that seamlessly operate on the Wave Relay® mobile ad hoc network (MANET), allowing warfighters to carry less equipment and do more through connected devices on a single, unified network.

In the past, unmanned systems were stove-piped with unique datalinks, modems, and controllers, which soldiers had to carry and operate. This created unnecessary burden and complexity and limited the information flow from the unmanned system solely to the system operator. By integrating all of these systems onto a common network, the information produced by the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) can be consumed by anyone on the team. This is essentially the definition of a “capability multiplier.”

“The needs of the warfighter are at the center of the Wave Relay® Ecosystem, and furthermore the networked battlefield,” said Nick Naioti, Vice President of Business Development for Persistent. “Our product portfolio heavily focuses on reducing SWaP and lowering the burden on the warfighter, so they can focus on the mission at hand. The Ecosystem furthers that effort by reducing information overload, enabling the systems and sensors to talk to each other on a common network. This creates a foundation to support machine-to-machine communication where data can be fused into actionable intelligence.”

Industry leaders have come together to meet the long-standing need to have people, unmanned systems, and sensors operating on a common battlefield network. All products available in the Ecosystem operate on the Wave Relay® MANET, the only network that has been demonstrated to scale beyond 320 nodes. The Wave Relay® Ecosystem website provides information on which products are supported, making it extremely easy for users to find products they know will seamlessly operate on their existing Wave Relay® MANET.

The Wave Relay® Ecosystem has six formally announced partners as of today. Partners receive unprecedented support from Persistent to ensure proper integration as well as programmatic support in pursuit of government programs of record.

“The Wave Relay® Ecosystem is a massive initiative at Persistent, supported by internal funding and organizational structure. People come to work every day to ensure that our Ecosystem partners are successful. We are working diligently with the leading manufacturers of unmanned systems and sensors to create the future,” said Dr. Herbert Rubens, CEO of Persistent Systems.

The Ecosystem facilitates the needs of the future-friendly networked battlefield where everyone and everything operates on the same network. Teams have access to every platform’s capabilities through the integrated Android™ computer available on every Wave Relay®-enabled device, providing users with the option to drive any UGV, fly any UAV, steer any camera, and operate any sensor from a single device.

The Wave Relay® Ecosystem website houses all partner’s available Wave Relay®-enabled products, highlighting key features such as externally accessible RF modules and Wave Relay® as standard equipment. Users can see all partner products that will seamlessly integrate into their existing Wave Relay® MANET.

Pork Sword Pistol FDE Left

Pork Sword Pistol Green Right

Ideal for hog hunting, general truck gun use, or just finding some fun on the shooting range, a Pork Sword Pistol suppresses wonderfully and puts rifle accuracy and capability in an extremely compact package.

Whether it’s the handy size, the additional handgun hunting seasons in some states, the ability to keep it loaded in a vehicle (hunting-related restrictions on loaded rifles don’t apply), the simplified ownership in some states as compared to a semi-auto pistol or rifle, how great of a suppressor host it is, or simply the cool and fun factor, a bolt-action pistol makes all sorts of sense.

A lightweight, minimalist, and simple solution for extending accessories up to a foot farther out front. The production version will be quick detach. (ETA late Q1, early Q2)
