Whether hunting whitetail from a tree stand with a bow or flushing upland birds with your shotgun, Tactacam has been there to record those ultimate moments in the lives of hunters. And now, Tactacam is introducing new scope viewing technology with the Tactacam FTS.

The Tactacam FTS combines the high definition video from your Tactacam camera with the high-power zoom of a rifle scope giving you the ability to remotely view and record live footage from your rifle on your smart phone. Century Arms Bringing New AES10B and PSL Rifles Back to the U.S. Market

Wednesday, January 30th, 2019

DELRAY BEACH, Florida – (January 29, 2019) – Century Arms, North America’s premier AK manufacturer, is excited to announce availability of newly manufactured models of the highly sought after AES10B 7.62x39mm and PSL 7.62x54R rifles from Romania.

The AES10B is modeled after the Romanian version of the RPK, features a heavy barrel profile, RPK bipod, clubfoot stock, and will ship with a 30-round magazine. The PSL is also modeled after the RPK rifle, but in the 7.62x54R cartridge and paired with a new Russian PO4x24 optic.

“We haven’t brought in the AES10B or PSL rifles in many years. AES10B availability has dried up due to a lack of the parts kits used to build them and surplus PSL rifles are  being sent to other parts of the world before we are able to acquire them,” said William Sucher, the company’s Vice President of Business Development. “We have continued to look for a solution for the American market due to the high demand for these models even though the days of low-priced surplus options are long gone. After reviewing all options and working with the manufacturer, we were able to acquire and bring in small quantities of these as newly manufactured rifles, albeit at a higher price, but still uniquely rare and desirable.”

Century Arms will have a limited quantity of these newly manufactured rifles and have sold out of the initial shipments. If you are a dealer please contact your local distributor to acquire an AES10B or PSL rifle while supplies last.

Combat Medic Training Integrates Sense of Touch

Wednesday, January 30th, 2019

Jan. 22, 2019 (Orlando, FL) Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS), an innovative provider of global workforce training services and solutions, works with HaptX, a visionary haptic technology firm, to provide enhanced military medical virtual reality training.

ECS has enhanced its Tactical Combat Casualty Care Simulation (TC3Sim) medical trainer to incorporate a sense of touch in training scenarios to improve realism and training by using the HaptX Gloves Development Kit an industrial-grade product for advanced simulation in virtual reality. HaptX Gloves enable users to experience virtual simulations with realistic touch feedback and natural interaction for the first time. This unique transformational training debuted at the Interservice/ Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), and subsequently, has been enhanced with even more realism that will be showcased at the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) January 26-30, 2019.

Shane Taber, ECS vice president of operations/Orlando, explains: “Previously, VR training focused on learning through visual and auditory cues. The sense of touch has been missing, and by integrating the HaptX Gloves, Warfighters shift their perspective from the typical Virtual Reality interaction that uses a controller to click and interact, to more of a human-based physical approach of actually grasping an object or reaching out and touching a button with your finger. A medic can bandage a wound or administer CPR, perform highly tactile procedures, and immediately see and hear the effect; feel the weight, the sensation, or movement of that action. We are excited to enhance the medical teams’ performance and improve their quality of training to allow trainees to learn more quickly and effectively with the integration of touch.”

David Fahr, ECS software engineer adds: “We received amazing reactions at I/ITSEC. Military service members, corporate leaders, and others said this unique training experience was unlike anything they had experienced before. Incorporating this feedback, we improved on the items used and overall flow of the scenarios to allow interactions to happen in an easier manner and for a more fluid experience in training scenarios. In the future, ECS plans to add a tutorial scenario to introduce users to the experience and haptic feedback.”

ECS plans to continue researching and testing these technologies to continue improving relevant, innovative, and fully-supported capabilities for the U.S. Army Research Lab. Their plan will also demonstrate the capabilities of haptic technology to fill existing gaps in skills training and further the understanding of the perception of touch as a component of virtual training.

HaptX Gloves feature 130 tactile actuators that provide realistic touch across the hand and fingertips. Built with HaptX’s patented microfluidic technology, HaptX Gloves also deliver powerful force feedback and motion tracking with sub-millimeter precision. The gloves are usually combined with a VR headset to provide a complete training experience.

Tuesday, January 29th, 2019

Mission Spec has released the EC2-XL™, the larger version of the standard Essentials Carrier 2.  As the name implies this carrier is designed specifically for XL sized (e,x)SAPI (or like) armor plates (not included).

Just like the standard sized version, the EC2-XL includes native support for industry standard chest rigs (with the addition of 2 QASM buckles), dual tourniquet holders, dual pen/chem-light/medical gloves storage, cable and hydration routing options, rear pack hangers, and simulated PALS sewn into the semi-elastic side straps for extra MOLLE pouch support. True Velocity Teams With General Dynamics On Next Generation Squad Weapons

Tuesday, January 29th, 2019

LAS VEGAS, NV – Texas-based True Velocity announced today a partnership with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) to develop the Next Generation Squad Weapon systems to replace the M4 and M249 platforms.

GD-OTS was one of five companies awarded contracts by the U.S. Army in July 2018 to develop prototypes of the Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle.

True Velocity has partnered with GD-OTS to support its new weapon system with a revolutionary composite case design that will yield significant ballistic improvements over traditional brass-cased ammunition, while also reducing the weight of a loaded cartridge, improving accuracy, decreasing thermal heat signature and diminishing wear and tear on the weapon system.

“True Velocity is committed to producing composite-cased ammunition that is superior to standard brass-cased ammunition in every way,” said True Velocity President Chris Tedford. “We feel strongly that our partnership with General Dynamics will result in a disruptive, technologically advanced weapon system that will afford our military a distinct advantage on the battlefield.”

The NGSAR is expected to improve upon the firepower and effective range of the M16 and M4 platforms, while simultaneously yielding capability improvements in accuracy and lethality, according to the Army. The weapon will weigh less than its predecessor, fire lightweight ammunition and have reduced acoustic and flash signature.

“By integrating the General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Next Generation Squad Weapon with True Velocity’s superior composite-cased ammunition, we can provide the U.S. Army with the right balance of lethality, weight reduction, and overmatch capability. We are excited for this partnership as we build on our capabilities as a system integrator” said Steve Elgin, vice president and general manager of armament and platform systems for GD-OTS.

The deadline for the submission of prototypes is anticipated prior to the end of 2019.

National Rifle Association Announces Daniel Defense as Friends of NRA 2019 Exclusive Guardian Sponsor

Tuesday, January 29th, 2019

FAIRFAX, Va. – The National Rifle Association is proud to announce Daniel Defense as the exclusive 2019 Guardian Level Corporate Sponsor of the Friends of NRA program. The National Corporate Sponsor program takes Friends of NRA’s support of the shooting sports to a national scale.

Friends of NRA is the blockbuster fundraising program supporting The NRA Foundation. Since day one, it has been a 100% grassroots effort fueled by a shared passion for securing the Second Amendment and raising money for the shooting sports. Since its inception in 1992, Friends of NRA has held close to 22,000 events, reached over 4.1 million attendees and raised more than $880 million for The NRA Foundation.

For the sixth year in a row, Daniel Defense’s sponsorship helps The NRA Foundation provide critical support for firearm training and educational programs that ensure the continuation of America’s proud shooting and hunting heritage for generations to come.

Cindy and Marty Daniel are passionate about supporting shooting programs focused on education and training for youth and women in particular, an interest that perfectly connects with The NRA Foundation’s goals to support educational programs such as: the NRA Online Hunter Education course, designed to help new hunters of all ages learn how to be safe and responsible members of the hunting community; and Women On Target®, a firearm handling clinic by women and for women.

“Our commitment to Friends of NRA is the right thing to do,” said Cindy Daniel, Executive Vice President of Daniel Defense. “In addition to renewing Daniel Defense as the National Corporate Sponsor for ‘19, I also started my own chapter locally called Coastal Georgia Friends of NRA. We’re surrounded by like-minded people, who genuinely share the same passion for the shooting sports, for our country, and the Second Amendment. Its way more than just a financial investment; we invest time with our children, enjoying all that the shooting sports has to offer, and most importantly, preparing the next generation of responsible gun owners. I encourage everyone to find ways to get involved on some level to ensure our children and grandchildren have the same access to shooting sports and the great outdoors.”
