The Difference Between Samples and Production Models

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

We recently published an article on Arc’teryx LEAF’s new Hide/Dry technology. The example photograph featured an Alpha parka in MultiCam. The sample garment has black zippers and a reader commented. Production models will integrate color matched zippers as you can see here.

You Can’t Make This Stuff Up

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

Granted, the market is changing and companies that have sold a lot of gear to the US military over the last 10 years have got to come up with ways to diversify their market. We thought we’d seen ‘zombie’ everything until now. EOTech has developed a ‘Zombie Stopper Holographic’ sight. We have this sneaking suspicion that the reticle is shaped like the biohazard symbol. Additionally, they’re offering a ‘Holographic Hybrid Sight Kit as Seen in MW3.’

It’s interesting marketing…Sure, we get it. But this might just be too much. We are definitely looking forward to EOTechs military and tactical offerings.

If you’re at SHOT Show see them in booth #20159.

And They Said It Would Never Happen

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

H&K USA is releasing the gas-piston, MR556A1 upper assembly to the market. Ever since a limited number of HK416 upper receivers showed up for sale on internet websites several years ago, fans have hoped that they would make the MR556A1 upper available for general sale and its finally happened.

The upper receiver kit will include a barreled flat top upper, Free Floating Rail System handguard, bolt carrier assembly, buffer, and buffer spring. The bolt carrier assembly, buffer, and buffer spring are all different than standard US Mil Spec items.

Fortunately, the MR556A1 features the same take down pin geometry as US Mil Spec Carbines so you will be able to plug it right in. Some variants of the civilian model do not share this feature.

Since it’s an upper, you can purchase the assembly as a part to attach to your existing gun so you won’t need ATF approval. However, make sure you are sitting down when you read this next part. The MSRP is reportedly $2195.

If you are on the road all of the time you know that finding desk space, or even just a place to set your drink while on the go can be a chore. Our friends at US Tactical Supply told us about a new product they are carrying called the TriPad Traveller.

It attaches to the arms any standard-sized suitcase, At approximately half an inch thick, it also fits easily in your laptop bag or briefcase. I wish I would have known about this before heading to SHOT.

Visit US Tactical Supply at SHOT Show in booth #6510 to see all of their offerings.
