Warrior West 21 – HDT Hunter WOLF

Thursday, July 1st, 2021

One of the first things you see upon entering Warrior West is HDT’s Hunter Wheeled Offload Logistics Follower (WOLF), a 6×6 load-carrier for dismounted infantry.

Capable of carrying 1,000 kg (2,200 pounds) off-road for more than 300 km (200 miles) at up to 12 mph, and 120 hour endurance with its onboard fuel tank, the JP-8 / electric hybrid powertrain provides both a “silent drive” and “silent watch” capability. It will also produce five kilowatts of power.

This particular model spent quite a bit of time with the 10th Mountain Division, including a JRTC rotation, where the Army learned about how to use a small robotic vehicle in direct support of the squad.

What interests me about the Hunter WOLF is the modular architecture which allows the quick reconfiguration of multiple mission payloads.

At Warrior West, it is fitted with the MPR060 Water Purification System which produces 60GPH (227 LPH) maximum flow rate on freshwater sources and 30GPH (113.6 LPH) maximum flow rate on saltwater sources.

Warrior West 21 – Warhorse Development Butcher Boy Mk 2

Thursday, July 1st, 2021

The Butcher Boy Mk 2 is a versatile shooting stabilization platform from Warhorse Development.

The inspiration for this model this is the Army’s Squad Designated Marksmanship Rifle, but they offer an entire line of bags. You’ll notice the QD sling mounts which match up with the Geissele rail on the SDMR to keep it attached to the rifle.

These Berry compliant, four legged soft platforms are filled with polymer beads and can be squeezed to get the right level of support for different shooting positions. The body is 1000D Cordura and the top is HANK to keep the rifle from moving around on the platform.

One last thing that’s cool about Warhorse Development products, they’re named after actual warhorses in history. For example, Butcher Boy was one of General Grant’s horses.

Warrior West 21 – BOSS-Xe by Wilcox Industries

Wednesday, June 30th, 2021

In addition to being a red dot sight, the BOSS-Xe (Ballistically Optimized Sighting System – Enhanced) features a red visible laser, infra-red (IR) laser and fixed IR illuminator.

One of the big changes for the BOSS-Xe is that you can now swap between two preset ballistic trajectories with the flip of a switch-without having to re-zero the weapon (think .300 sub and supersonic). What’s more, the Lasers/illuminator/reflex all co-aligned with one adjustment.

It’s powered by a single CR123A battery, offering 10 Hrs on Dual High IR Laser only.

Warrior West 21 – Hendricks Motorsports Advanced Seat Liner

Wednesday, June 30th, 2021

What you see here are seat cushion sections developed by Hendrick Motorsports for NASCAR to increase survivability during crashes. This configuration called the Hendrick Advanced Seat Liner was developed for PM-Apache and is currently under evaluation for use by Apache helicopter crews.

The Apache was initially designed during the Cold War for two hour missions but today the missions are eight hours long. The seat is more comfortable with the padding contoured to support the body. It also protects the spine and pelvis from injury.

Testers at Apache manufacturer Boeing have referred to the seat as the “Cadillac of Seats” and one Apache test pilot with over 30 years experience called it the “Mack Daddy.” Although you won’t find it on the Apache version, the seat can also be air conditioned. The seat also features a self-extinguishing foam with leatherette covers. This is the same material used in seats on Air Force One.
