Killer Innovations CZP10 Slide Q&A

April 29th, 2021

Killer Innovations offered us a quick Q&A covering their upcoming slide for the CZP10.

Why CZP10?

We chose to go after the CZP10 aftermarket because we believe in the design and functionality of the CZP10 design. We thought we could add to it and make it one of the absolute best pistols on the market. The CZ is nearly there on its own, that made it an easy decision for us to add a little Killer Innovations touch.

What is different about our slide?

Our slides design can speak for itself, however as cool and unique as it looks. There is purpose driven behind the design. All our slides feature the E.G.F. cuts, “Enhanced Grip Features”. This gives the operator the most positive engagement on a slide you can get. Functional reliability is our focus above all else.

What are some features of this slide?

The coatings we choose to use are extraordinarily strong and exceptionally durable. Our MDC (Grey) and DLC (black) Coating is very tough and will hold up to extreme conditions and abuse.

Our Slide features 2 different optic cut patterns, one for the Trijicon RMR footprint, and the other for the Leupold Delta Point Pro. This gives the user a few different options on Red dots.

Weighing in at 8.8 oz, our slide is made from 17-4 Stainless Steel, this makes the slide light, yet durable and corrosion resistant.

The slides go on sale May 14th, 2021.

Platoon Leader Designs App to Help Soldiers Earn Their EIB

April 29th, 2021

U.S. Army service members now have a new training aid to help them earn the coveted Expert Infantryman Badge, a mobile app.

1st Lt. Egor Krasnonosenkikh, an infantry officer assigned to 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division on Joint Base Lewis-McChord used self-taught programming skills to design an app, “EIB Pro,” to help train his Soldiers.

Just as the Combat Infantryman Badge was intended to be an award for U.S. service members whose primary mission was to close with and destroy the enemy, the Expert Infantryman Badge was instituted to build and maintain esprit de corps within U.S. infantry units. In order for any infantryman to earn the coveted badge, they must demonstrate expertise in their profession’s tasks and drills.

Since its creation, it has been downloaded over 11,000 times and in 65 different countries.

Videos, written instruction, a step-by-step guide, tasks, conditions and standards for EIB tasks are all provided within the app. There’s even a progress tracker that measures your task confidence, repetitions per lane and a “station deep dive” that tracks progress per event.

“So, I think the catalyst was definitely COVID. I was at home and on my computer anyway, so I figured I’d do something that’s useful to the army. I got my EIB the year before I made my app, and I really disliked that little book that we got, which always got destroyed easily,” he said.

At the time, he was a platoon leader and really wanted to see Soldiers in his unit get their EIB, he said. Some Soldiers even had to practice while at home, an environment that he felt would be hard to train in just using a small book.

Soldiers found the app to be a useful training tool, he said.

His battalion ended up having the highest success rate that year, 28.5%, almost double the Brigade average.

“There were Soldiers that told me without my app, they don’t think they would have gotten it. I’ve even heard that from captains and majors,” said Krasnonosenkikh.

He learned how to program on his own using YouTube videos and online resources. Growing up, he had a big interest in video games and what it took to make them, he said.

He spent his early years in Russia, before his uncle invited his mother and himself to move to the United States where he pursued an education and eventually a commission in the U.S. Army.

Soon, he’ll be developing apps, officially, for the military as a member of U.S. Army Futures Command.

He’s also currently working on an education app geared towards squad leaders and team leaders to make Army doctrine more accessible.

The app is free to download, available on the Android and iPhone store and receives updates by 1st Lt. Krasnonosenkikh himself.

CCI and Federal Sponsored Shooters Broke Several World Records and Won Three Championship Titles at World Speed Shoot

April 28th, 2021

ANOKA, Minnesota – April 21, 2021 – CCI and Federal Ammunition sponsored shooters Grant Kunkel and Chris Barrett broke multiple world records and earned world championship titles in three divisions at the recent World Speed Shoot. The 2021 Steel Challenge Shooting Association World Speed Shooting Championship Match was held April 14-18 at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama, presented by CCI and Federal Ammunition.

Of the 637 guns in the match, Kunkel finished high overall and set a new world record in the Rimfire Rifle Iron Division turning in a performance of 53.97 seconds. The previous record was 58.86. Kunkel was the first person to shoot a sub-five-second stage with a 4.98-second finish on the “Smoke and Hope” stage. He also set four stage world records and took 1st place in that division. In addition, Kunkel claimed the world champion title in the Rimfire Rifle Optics Division, second-place finish in the Pistol Caliber Carbine Optics Division and third place in the Rimfire Pistol Optics Division. In all, Kunkel managed to set eight world records for fastest stage time in a given division.

“To have earned a high overall win and set all the records Grant did is amazing,” said Federal’s Shooting Sports Promotions Manager, Jason Spradling. “This is a huge deal. Two years ago, the 60-second mark was broken, and no one thought it would ever be bested. Grant beat it by almost 5 seconds.”

“When I am competing at a World Championship there isn’t any room for error, that is why I use CCI Mini-Mags and Federal Syntech pistol ammunition,” said Kunkel. “Their accuracy and reliability are second to none!”

Kunkel’s CCI/Federal teammate, Chris Barrett, also had a strong showing. Barrett earned his 5th world title in the Pistol Caliber Carbine Irons Division and set new world records on seven stages. Barret uses Federal Syntech in his PCC rifles and Open Division pistol, and CCI Mini-mags in his rimfire rifles and pistol.

“Chris’ hard work and dedication to this sport continue to pay off and we’re extremely proud of his accomplishments,” said Spradling. “We congratulate Grant and Chris on such outstanding performances.”

Mini-Mag was CCI’s original offering, and it’s still one of their most popular. The accurate 22 LR load feeds reliably and minimizes fouling thanks to clean-burning powder, and it feeds reliably thanks to CCI priming and brass. For more information on CCI Ammunition, go to www.cci-ammunition.com.

The exclusive polymer coating in Federal’s Syntech ammunition prevents harsh metal-on-metal contact between the bullet and bore, eliminating copper and lead fouling. Combined with clean-burning powders and the Catalyst lead-free primer, Syntech loads keep your gun cleaner, longer, so you can shoot more—and shoot better.
