Revision Celebrates Nerv Centr Power Management Solution Adoption With Key US Customers

February 13th, 2019

Essex Junction, Vermont (February 13, 2019) – Revision Military—a world leader in integrated, soldier-worn power management solutions—has successfully supplied numerous Nerv Centr® power management systems to key customers in the U.S. Marine Corps and Air National Guard Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC).

“Revision’s Power division is a prime example of our unyielding commitment to meeting troop needs head on,” said Jonathan Blanshay, CEO, Revision. “If we see any opportunity to leverage our capabilities to improve warfighter equipment, in any capacity, we are going to pursue it relentlessly. The development of the Nerv Centr family of products—solutions designed to suit the real-world needs of troops on the ground, so they can count on longer-lasting energy reserves on extended and remote missions—fully embodies this pursuit. Revision’s power capabilities have grown significantly since we first staked out this territory in 2014, and we are poised expand further with the recent acquisition of Protonex. The recent traction of the Nerv Centr line and this exciting partnership with the Air National Guard is a testament to our tenacious mindset, and reinforces all the work we’ve put in to get to where we are today.”

Revision was selected by the Air National Guard (ANG) to supply Nerv Centr power management solutions for their Battlefield Airman Kits, for use by Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC). Revision has delivered 652 kits, each of which includes a Nerv Centr SharePack® Power Management System, a Nerv Centr SoloPack™ Battery, an Enhanced Charger, and select cables.

This order by the Air National Guard builds on several recent successes for Revision’s Nerv Centr family of power management products. Especially noteworthy is Revision’s work with the U.S. Marine Corps to supply the energy needs for their Target Handoff System—a constellation of interconnected devices that provide Scout Observers, Joint Fires Observers, and JTACs  with the ability to self-locate, acquire targets, and refine and relay coordinate data for target engagement. Revision’s SoloPack Batteries and Nerv Centr Chargers provide centralized power that has greatly exceeded expectations—powering the THS for upward of 20 hours, compared to the eight-hour threshold set by the program.

Collaboration with the Air National Guard for the Battlefield Airman Kits began two years ago, in response to JTAC instructors’ request for a higher-capacity alternative power solution with lower weight and less bulk. Revision worked closely with this group to understand their requirements, their equipment, and the integration specifications for their vest load outs. After trials with the Nerv Centr products, the ANG committed to outfitting all of their JTAC instructors across 15 squadrons in the U.S. Successful delivery of this order also included SharePack firmware improvements and the development of a new PRC 117G radio adapter. During this collaboration, the ANG also aided in the development of the user interface of the Nerv Centr mobile app—Revision’s first mobile application (available now in the Google Play store), designed to provide an intuitive interface for soldier-worn power system management, enhancing connectivity, device monitoring, and control over power reserves.

Widget Wednesday: Power to Prevail – The History of the Squad Power Manager

February 13th, 2019

Now part of the Revision Military® Nerv Centr® suite of products, following the acquisition of Protonex® in October of 2018, the Squad Power Manager™ (SPM-622) is an impressive piece of equipment with an interesting backstory.

The current (4th) generation of the Squad Power Manager is a rugged and easily-carried “multi-tool” of power constructed around a suite of intelligent power management algorithms. These built-in smarts enable the Squad Power Manager to run electronic equipment and recharge batteries simultaneously – with no user programming or input required. The SPM also has the capability of scavenging power from any source in the 4-34 Volt DC range – with a converter it can also harness AC power anywhere in the world as well.

The ruggedness, ease-of-use, dependability, and flexibility of the Squad Power Manager have made it a “must have” tool for troops on extended operations and/or deployed in austere environments. So much so, that the National Infantry Association honored the Squad Power Manager with a special feature in the Winter Issue of its official publication, “Infantry Bugler”. A PDF of the article can be downloaded or read online at RevisionMilitary.com. The entire Winter Issue of “Infantry Bugler” can also be read online at the National Infantry Association’s website.

Hill People Gear – Decker Pack Frame

February 13th, 2019

Hill People Gear has just announced a pack frame based on their proven 300lb load capable Ute / qui-Ya chassis. The Decker Pack Frame includes a robust compression system and bottom capture flap.

It doesn’t have an integrated pack bag which makes it easier to carry awkward items that wouldn’t fit inside of a pack bag such as jerry cans, fenceposts, or moose quarters.  The Decker Frame will also accept any of HPG’s interchangeable back pockets in place of its own center panel for small item storage and organization. It expands on the modularity found in the rest of the HPG lineup by allowing the user to also use anything they want as a pack bag — from an ultralight silnylon dry sack, to an oversized seam welded dry bag, to the old duffel bag in the garage. This versatility makes the Decker Pack Frame a good choice for people who want lots of modularity in a single system, or who have load requirements that fall outside the boundaries of a more traditional pack.

For more information and pricing, you can check out the Decker Pack Frame on Hill People Gear’s website: hillpeoplegear.com

The Decker Pack Frame and a couple of other components will make their physical debut at the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo this weekend in Salt Lake City. For more information on the event, go to its website at huntexpo.com

Duraflex Consolidation Announcement

February 13th, 2019

February 12, 2019

National Molding will be consolidating the Duraflex production from both our Miami Lakes, FL and Ambridge PA. into our Largo, Florida facility.  Currently, the Largo plant manufactures medical products and they are well equipped to handle the attention to detail that the Duraflex line requires.   The equipment (presses and molds) from both facilities will be relocated to our Largo, FL plant.  We believe by consolidating all Duraflex production in one location we will be able to better serve our commercial and military customers.

We anticipate this transition to be completed mid-year 2019.  The Largo, FL plant is well equipped and staffed to handle the complexities of our Duraflex line.  We are excited to have all Duraflex production in one location and look forward to serving your plastic hardware needs in the future.

TacHacker – Clothing Mods by WNDSN XPD

February 13th, 2019

WNDSN XPD recently shared this TacHack on Instagram. They do some cool stuff so we thought it was worth a share. It’s written from their perspective.

In the spirit of the old Wndsn Tumblr how-tos and as an exercise in #HOBOTACTICAL gear mods, here is a simple enhancement to your typical field jacket:

Install a rectangle of velcro (the loop side) ON THE INSIDE of the jacket, above the inner chest pocket; I used a 4 x 6″ piece in the example.

Now you have a versatile PLATFORM for any piece of gear that comes with a VELCRO (hook) back; of course, you can just as well wear your morale patches in this COVERT way, but we can make it even more useful.

I enjoy my smuggler’s jacket from @edsmanifesto and the many pockets and storage options it offers, including the dump pouch. I have found that sometimes though, I’d like to have that pouch higher up, and even when loaded, hidden within the jacket. A piece of hook velcro installed on the back of a drawstring DUMP POUCH, and we can use the newly cretaed platform to attach the dump pouch high up and have its contents out of sight, within the jacket. Compare the pictures. ENJOY!

Israeli Defense Force Abandons Camouflage Uniform Effort

February 12th, 2019

According to a report from Agilite Tactical, the Israeli Defense Force has abandoned their long anticipated efforts to adopt a national camouflage pattern. The main reason is an overwhelming concern by troops who have worn OD for over 70 years, that they would be mistaken for enemy soldiers who wear camouflage uniforms.

According to the report, “The IDF’s Technical and Logistics Directorate ran a pilot wherein hundreds of combat troops and officers tested the uniforms over the past 10 months. The uniforms also featured a new cut and fabric which were judged by testees to cause high levels of discomfort.”

At least for the meantime, the IDF will remain OD.
