USMC Seeks 84mm Round Pouches

March 19th, 2019

The Marine Corps wants to purchase pouches for the 84 MM round used in the Multi-Role Anti-Armor Anti-Personnel Weapon System (commonly referred to as the Carl Gustaf).

They’ve solicited feedback from industry for pouches which meet these criteria:

– Accommodate one, two, or three 84 mm MAAWS rounds. Modularity and designs that allow for Marines to balance the ammunition on their existing load bearing equipment are preferred.

– Be compatible with the current Pouch Attachment Ladder System for attachment to current Marine Corps load bearing equipment.

– Provide a retention mechanism that allows for the rounds to be retained during normal combat operations.

– Must be comprised of materials that meet current Near Infrared requirements.

– Must be compliant with the Berry Amendment.

3M Scotchlite Thermal Reflecting Film

March 19th, 2019

Offered in several formats, 3M Scotchlite Thermal Reflecting Film is a flexible film that “appears” cold when viewed through an infrared or thermal imaging camera/sights. Under thermal image cameras, the film gives a high contrast, highly visible, and/or a realistic thermal practice target.

Unlike other products in the market, this tape doesn’t have to be emplaced at an angle. Day or night, hot or cold, you’ll see your target through thermals.

3M products are available for unit and agency order through ADS.

Introducing the Nautilus-Alpha from Terrain 365

March 19th, 2019

Rust-Proof Knife for Serious Use in Water Environments

Terrain 365™ introduces their Nautilus-Alpha knife model Monday March 18, 2019. A heavy duty fixed blade knife made from a solid piece of their Terravantium™ super-alloy, which is impervious to any rust, corrosion, pitting, or staining in any known natural environments. The other significant characterisitc to this super-alloy is its ability to hold an edge longer than any titanium blade alloy found in many dive knives, as well as any known steel blade alloy available. The Nautilus-Alpha is a knife designed for a life around, on, and under water. An oven cured, textured expoxy is applied to the handle and a hand made Kydex sheath with belt clip is included.  The Nautilus-Alpha is made in the USA.

The Nautilus-Alpha-2 will retail for $345.00 and available in black and orange colors as pictured.

“The Terrain 365 Nautilus-Alpha was born from a request made by commercial and military divers for durable knife that simply would never rust, keep an edge longer than any typical blade alloy found in dive knives, and also non-magnetic. Many dive knives use a titaniumn alloy which do perform very well in the area of corrosion, but as most users know, without a special carbidized edge application, titanium blades become dull very quickly with any use. There are some very corrosion resistant stainless steel alloys available, but as they are all ferrous based, they are magnetic. Terravantium as a proprietary form of dendritic cobalt meets and exceeds the requested requirements Terrain 365 received for a dive knife. Producing the dendritic cobalt super-alloy required Terrain 365 to invest in specialized production equipment and processes. They cost of the alloy itself is quite high but for the resulting performance qualities, Terrain 365 finds it superior in just about all practical considerations for a cutting tool.”

Terrain 365™ launches the Nautilus-Alpha via their website at 12:00pm Pacific Time, March 18, 2019.

Max Talk Monday: Squad Hasty Attack: Texas Class 2019

March 18th, 2019

This is the fourteenth installment of ‘Max Talk Monday’ which shares select episodes from a series of instructional videos. Max Velocity Tactical (MVT) has established a reputation on the leading edge of tactical live fire and force on force training. MVT is dedicated to developing and training tactical excellence at the individual and team level.

Max Talk: The Squad Hasty Attack is video footage of the hasty attack drill at the Texas Class 2019. This was a squad level (2 x fire team) live fire training exercise against a simulated isolated enemy position. The point fire team comes under effective enemy fire and simulates fighting off the ‘X’ (in this case forward). The point team then becomes support by fire as the other team moves right flanking to assault. This drill formed part of the ‘Attack Day’ which included hasty attack and raid simulated live fire scenarios.
