The Elk Institute is in need of donations to sustain their free services for our active duty and veterans. Dr Carrie Elk has been doing some phenomenal work with Veterans suffering from PTSD at the Elk Institute. She has even been known to make trips to military bases in order to reach those who can’t travel. If you give to Combined Federal Campaign, consider this charity. If not, visit their website, learn more, and help them help our men and women.

The Personal Armor System, Ground Troops saw its first operational debut with the 82nd Airborne Division during Operation ‘Urgent Fury.’ At the time the US military’s first standard issue ballistic helmet was known as the ‘Fritz’ due to its similar shape to the German Stahlhelm of WW II. Velocity Systems Officially Announces the Acquisition of the Mayflower Research & Consulting Brand

June 17th, 2016

Dulles, VA – June 17, 2016 – Velocity Systems officially announces they acquired the Mayflower Research and Consulting Brand. For some of you this is not a new concept because Velocity Systems and Mayflower Research and Consulting have been operating as a team to collaboratively develop protective gear for the last 7 and a half years.

The need for the partnership occurred in 2008 when the demand for Mayflower gear was increasing exponentially and Travis Rolph’s services were needed by our country in a different capacity. While Travis continued to design all products under the Mayflower name, Velocity Systems began handling the logistics and manufacturing of all Mayflower products.

The decision was made that Velocity Systems and Mayflower were a good fit due to both companies’ dedication to produce quality products at the speed of need. Both companies were also committed to research and development and listening to feedback in order to create products tailored to fit the needs of the individuals that protect and serve our country. In January of 2014, Velocity Systems officially acquired the Mayflower Brand. Throughout the partnership and acquisition this dedication and commitment only grew stronger and has created a more competitive and efficient global provider of protective products, and solutions.

While the acquisition has not been a secret, the decision was made to wait a substantial period of time before making an official public announcement. Both brands have a loyal customer base and wanted to take the opportunity to prove the merge would only enhance the product offerings. David Strum, Velocity Systems President had this to say about the acquisition, “The joining of the two brands allowed us to leverage operating efficiencies and concentrate more on the end user’s needs. This created more time for research and development, and collaborative design opportunities. The change resulted in a more comprehensive portfolio featuring high-quality products with leading technology.”

Throughout the last 7 and a half years Dave Strum has remained the primary designer for Velocity Systems products and Travis Rolph has remained the primary designer for Mayflower Brand products. While the two specialize in their own niche, the merge has allowed them to work together collaboratively using their unique strengths to develop best-in-class designs.

Moving forward the Mayflower Brand will go by the name Mayflower R&C By Velocity Systems and can be purchased as product line under the Velocity Systems name. In order to more efficiently streamline the sales of Velocity Systems gear and the Mayflower R&C By Velocity Systems product line, Velocity Systems is launching a new website showcasing both under one roof. As of June 20, 2016 please visit www.velsyst.com to check out the new website.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – Arms Case

June 17th, 2016

This week we focus on an FS product that’s been around for awhile. Offered in both Carbine and Long Gun lengths, the FirstSpear Arms Case is a modular carriage and storage solution for your weapons. What’s more, these fit inside Storm cases for storage and transport.

FS Arms Case

Boasting haul loops on either end as well as a wrap around handle, the Arms Case also offers an external storage pocket with a Velcro panel for removable identification markings.

The carbine length Arms Case is 36″ and the long Gun variant is 43″. As you can see, the interior features 6/12 slots and the weapon tiedowns can be configured to accommodate a variety of weapons. Both will accept scoped weapons with standard 20 or 30 round magazines attached as well as a removable 6/12 Organizer Panel which allows you to configure the interior how you see fit. It attaches to the interior of the Arms Case via “G” Hooks and when removed, can be hung on a hook, nail or door knob while you reconfigure your kit. But for the Arms Case, modularity goes beyond just setting the interior up. In addition to managing your internal configuration, you can also integrate the entire Arms Case into many hard cases as a padded weapon insert in order to consolidate your gear and protect it for long haul transportation.

Zipper Detail

The Arms Case closes with a 3/4 zipper that allows you to open it flat.

Shoulder Strap

Additionally, it accepts an optional shoulder strap for ease of carry.

FS Shoulder Strap and 6/12™ Organizer Panel are sold separately. Shipping now in in Black and Coyote.
