Nikon has just introduced the new P-308 4-12×40 BDC 800 rifle scope. It features a 4-12 magnification, a 40mm objective, fully multicoated lenses, and the BDC 800 reticle; the BDC 800 reticle was engineered for a .308 win/7.62x51mm NATO round with a 168-grain HBT Match bullet at 2680 fps.

The P-308 also features spring-loaded, Instant Zero-Reset Turrets with easy-grip course knurling, making in-field adjustments easier by allowing shooters to reset their turrets back to zero after sighting-in. The P-308 is also waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof.

The P-308 is also optimized for use with Spot On Ballistic Match Technology. The Spot On program provides users with the exact aiming points on any BDC reticle for any load or ammunition at a specific range. Spot On is free online at nikonsportoptics.com/SpotOn, but is also available for mobile devices and can be purchased for iOS and Android.

SIG Silencer – 3D Printed Suppressor Endurance Testing

May 28th, 2015

SIG SAUER conducted a test to failure of their 3D printed machine gun suppressor for a US Government client. Using a MK48 outfitted with this SIG prototype machine gun suppressor, they continuously fired the gun with just reloading time between belts. Look at how hot the suppressor gets right before the test ends just shy of five belts. The Orange color denotes a temperature of 1500 – 1700 deg F.

Below, is the suppressor from the test which you can see suffered a failure.

S.O.Tech – Speed Clip Line

May 27th, 2015

Earlier this week we posted a story that challenged industry to offer new police equipment. S.O.Tech has been working on some things so we thought we’d share.
Speed-Clip

S.O.Tech’s Taser holster Speed Clip System is part of a shift in the law enforcement paradigm. We are witnessing the proliferation of less lethal Taser systems in law enforcement and a shift in public perceptions. When LAPD originally queried SOTech to design an upgraded version of its venerable Taser holster design, the discussion was for a few hundred holsters. After a year, this expanded to an order of 2,330 holsters as part of a contract extendable to 5 years and covering sales to LA Sheriffs Department too. We believe that we are witnessing a paradigm shift from a public expectation that police officers would have a badge and a gun. The new paradigm will be a badge, a gun and a Taser device. S.O.Tech recently delivered 800 Taser holsters to LASD. Be on the lookout for new Taser carriage designs from S.O.Tech in coming months!

Also a sign of the times, S.O.Tech designed the pouches in the Speed Clip line to have a military-inspired functionality but a law enforcement professional appearance. Flaps have minimal external stitch work and foam lining for a clean appearance in addition to a highly modular mounting system that quickly attaches to the belt, thigh or MOLLE vest is a matter of seconds. The unique design incorporates S.O.Tech’s patented ambidextrous flapped design that promotes weapon retention and prevents mistaken weapon identity.

The video announces the three stages of S.O.Tech’s modular law enforcement system: the fixed gun belt, Speed Clip line, and Suit Up line of civil disobedience and assault vest gear. S.O.Tech has been developing this systematic approach since the company’s beginnings in 1997 when LAPD and LASD officers and deputies presented the need for modular response systems.

TacJobs – Combat Flipflops – Veteran Business Initiative

May 27th, 2015

Combat Flipflops Hiring

Combat Flip Flops is growing and they’re looking for veterans to join their movement. Creating peaceful, forward-thinking opportunities for people affected by conflict is no easy job, but it sure does have its rewards. Being a veteran-owned company, Combat Flip Flops’ strives to support veterans, the country, and those downrange. Taking a page from their Green Beret brothers, they’re instituting the Village Stability Operations (VSO) Program.

“As a country, we’ve spent the past 14 years fixing somebody else’s village—it’s time to get to work in ours,” said Combat Flip Flops founder and CEO, Matthew ‘Griff’ Griffin.

Demand has been growing fast, and Combat Flip Flops is now independently contracting veterans to spread stoke by starting mobile storefronts across the country where they can sell cool stuff made in dangerous places, like local events and festivals. The company is looking for driven, creative, self-motivated individuals who want to do some good while making a little dough. Who better than a veteran, right?

THE MISSION:

  • A $6000 investment sets the veteran up to sell with support channels in place. The program includes:
  • Combat Flip Flops Sales Kit. All of the sales and collateral materials and booth structure to professionally present the Combat Flip Flops brand at events.
  • Inventory. A selection of men’s and ladies flip flops, sarongs, shemaghs and jewelry to start selling.
  • Training and Sales Support. Having the right tools and backend support makes a big difference when starting a business. Combat Flip Flops’ lays out the ground work, helps qualify which sales channels are right for the veteran and geographic area, and offers support throughout the mission.
  • Financing. In partnership with veteran-owned and focused StreetShares, VSO sales reps can get financing with competitive rates.
  • “The veterans coming back to the states now are the most able, solution-focused group of people our country has ever known,” said Griff. “We want them back home, focusing on their villages, and building a life while serving their country for years to come.”

“I own a CrossFit gym and am a veteran, so the Combat Flip Flops VSO program is a no-brainer for me. We have the displays and all of the flip flops and other gear up at all times in the gym and whenever we go to a local competition, we take the tent and we sell the gear. Let’s face it, you are going to the competitions anyway to support your athletes, might as well make a few bucks while you’re at it. We last set up at a competition in April 2015 just outside of Indianapolis and generated $1300 in sales over the weekend. We set up the tent so we could watch the comp the whole time, it was a win-win,” said Justin Springer, owner, Fort Wayne Strength and Conditioning/Guerrilla CrossFit.
