The SIG SAUER P365, celebrated for its compact design and formidable delivery, now meets its perfect match in the IntelliFire™. This trigger isn’t merely an aesthetic modification; it’s an evolution, engineered specifically for all P365 variants. The trigger not only is the first of its kind to feature a safety blade system that is compatible with all P365 grip modules, but it also boasts a 30% reduced take up/pre-travel, a true 90-degree break, and works WITH the OEM internal safety mechanisms.

The IntelliFire™ speaks volumes of Tyrant CNC’s engineering ethos. Its shoe, CNC Machined from 17-4 stainless steel is already a stronger steel than used over the OEM. Mated with that steel trigger shoe are dual 6061 anodized aluminum trigger blades operated by a single, specially designed stainless steel and heat-treated spring. All of these quality, made in the USA parts/components are purposely chosen for their reliability, aiming to outpace the firearm’s very own duty cycle.

AUSA 23 – Alien Gear Taq-Strap

Alien Gear debuted their new Taq-Strap at AUSA. The Taq-Strap is a wearable tourniquet strap which replaces any standard 1.5″ thigh retention strap like on holsters or leg mounted loadouts. It allows the wearer to provide self care via a hasty tourniquet application to the femoral arteries.

AUSA 23 – FN LICC IWS Update

FN America displayed the latest version of their Lightweight Intermediate Caliber Cartridge Individual Weapon System at AUSA. This is the four component systems we wrote about in January.

LICC IWS components:

• Lightweight ammunition family
• Improved Performance Carbine
• 25-round purpose-built, polymer magazine
• Signature Suppressor

Chambered in .264, it was developed on behalf of the Irregular Warfare Technology Support Directorate (IWTSD), a government office, which is responsible for conducting research and development in support of U.S. and allied organizations involved in Irregular Warfare.

The Improved Performance Carbine comes in three versions, the DMR or Recce rifle with 18.5″ barrel in the top two photos as well as a 14.5″ Carbine and 11.5″ CQB model seen below.

FN America has made 40 improvements to the carbine since I fired it last fall and is ready to transition to the customer.

One of the myriad changes is that there is a final form 25 round magazine.

They’ve also reduced weight throughout the design. One place it is immediately visible is in the three lightening cuts made above the charging handle.

Above is a close up of the user adjustable gas block and its cover which we didn’t share last time.

This article has focused on aspects of the Improved Performance Carbine. Upgrades have also been realized with the steel cased ammunition. Hopefully, we’ll get a chance to tell you more about that soon, now that the system is heading toward First Article Test.

AXL Advanced x Longship Designs JTAC Adapter

Developed by Longship Designs and manufactured by AXL Advanced, this is the latest, V3 version of the JTAC Adapter.

The V3 JTAC Adapter is a semi-rigid platform that allows you to mount an EUD or admin pouch above your magazines and keep your device on your chest. The V3 JTAC Adapter features laser-cut laminate, a thermoplastic interior for rigidity, and a hook and loop base that attaches to the back of most modern chest rigs on the market. With the new mirrored design of the new V3 Adapter, the user is now able to mount a pouch directly to the body side of the adapter using the laser cut laminate and loop field now featured. Each JTAC Adapter comes with two strands of shock cord and two cord locks to be used to mount the adapter directly to your chest rig harness. When used slick, the JTAC Adapter can be used to affix identifiers or other hook-based items as seen fit.

“The JTAC Adapter was created to fill a gap in continuity between plate carriers and chest rigs. The idea came after I was watching a teammate use his ATAK phone while wearing his Spiritus Systems chest rig and had no good place to keep the phone readily accessible. Because I didn’t own the same chest rig the original was designed around the Mayflower UW rig. It went through various iterations and I sent a few to guys for testing and then used their feedback to enhance the JTAC Adapter. The version everyone is familiar with was further refined with Ben from Gear Dynamics and his knowledge of CAD and laminates.”

Introducing The New S.O.Tech Laser Cut Tactical Symbology Patches

A Modern Twist On A S.O.Tech Original

S.O.Tech has new additions to their full line of tactical symbology which now include a modern twist on a S.O.Tech original. We have been making our embroidered symbology patches for about 15 years now. Therefore, we are pleased to announce our new laser cut tactical symbology patches. They were designed as a Mil Std 2525C supplement to accurately represent specialized job functions at the individual level. Originally, because S.O.Tech’s line of bags (Mission Go Bag and Mission Pack) were so multi-functional, they needed an identifier so the operator could easily determine what was inside the bag. Our bags were being used to hold sniper gear, medical gear, breacher gear, and commo gear. So, during a medical emergency, we created the medical patch so you could tell that pack from the others. SOCOM and USASOC allowed us to include these patches on our bags and patches throughout the GWOT, so you’ve probably seen them across the spectrum.

S.O.Tech has also adapted the symbols for use on patches which can be worn to designate various functions at the small unit level, whether on the pack or on a person. This can be an excellent way to identify special skills-centric gear to cut through the “fog of war” during chaotic situations. The new line of laser cut patches include Medic, Rifleman, Grenadier, Light Machine Gunner, and Heavy Machine Gunner.

We have two different variations of our patches. The first option being a IR honeycomb reflective and the second option being an IR only.

FS Friday Focus – Vertical Envelopment Pack

Officer Training School Embarks on ‘OTS-Victory’

MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. (AFNS) —

Officer Training School is implementing a new accessions program aimed at developing Air Force and Space Force leaders who are prepared to compete and win in today’s strategic operating environment.

The new training program, dubbed OTS-Victory, incorporates a five-modular approach designed to enhance the effectiveness of foundational officer development by focusing on specific knowledge, skills and abilities in each module. The course is structured to develop an officer trainee across all foundational competencies within 60 training days.

Officer graduates will be steeped in the Air Force and Space Force competencies through deliberate assessments tied to leadership, mission command, warfighting, communication and professionalism. In the end, OTS’s goal is to produce graduates ready for the challenges in an era of strategic competition.

Starting fiscal year 2024, OTS will conduct, on average, 20 classes per year with a new class starting every two weeks. The additional class start dates promote flexibility for stakeholders, reduces candidates’ wait time to attend training and allows for increased trainee throughput when necessary. At any point, OTS will have up to five classes in session, in various phases of training.

Additionally, the new training construct allows OTS to easily surge production to meet annual production numbers set by Congress in both steady state and contingency mobilization posture. If called, the school can surge up to 26 classes per year.

“Within existing resource authorizations, we are restoring OTS’s ability to serve as the officer accession ‘shock absorber,’ meaning we have the structural agility and organizational effectiveness to respond to production demands during peace or war,” said Col. Keolani Bailey, OTS commandant. “Whether we need to increase or decrease production, we won’t compromise the quality of training.”

In terms of the instructor cadre, they are now afforded the opportunity to become subject matter experts in the two-week modular blocks of instruction versus teaching the entire 60-day curriculum.

“Instructors will receive increased reps and sets and better feedback to elevate the overall performance of the team. This reduces lesson planning, preparation timelines and creates more opportunities for deliberate development, course updates, and instructor reconstitution time,” Bailey said. “This will allow instructors to reduce bureaucracy and concentrate on their primary mission — building warrior-minded leaders of character focused on the future fight.”

With OTS previously offering only five classes per year, thereby limiting time off between classes, the new program builds 10 weeks “off the line” each year for instructors. Therefore, when not actively instructing a class during these time periods, instructors are afforded the necessary time to refine course delivery, attend professional development programs, and enjoy their well-earned leave with family and friends.

Officer Training School is answering the call to produce warrior-minded leaders of character with a disciplined mindset who are willing and ready for the future fight. Through this reimagined learning-delivery model, OTS-Victory postures the Holm Center and our newest Air Force officers to compete and win, anytime, anyplace.

The first class of officer trainees to experience OTS-V arrived on campus Oct. 10.

The purpose of OTS is to train and develop new officers to fulfill Air Force and Space Force active duty, Reserve and Air National Guard requirements, in partnership with the U.S. Air Force Academy and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Officer Training School is located at Maxwell Air Force Base and consists of two academic buildings with auditoriums, four dormitories, dining facility, physical conditioning center, parade field, running track and sports fields. Additionally, OTS maintains an Air Expeditionary Force garrison training site, a 200-acre field training facility, confidence course and two expeditionary assault courses.
