TNVC Introduces Custom Cell Tag and Callsign IR/GLO Patches from FirstSpear

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013

TNVC is the first to carry the IR & GLO and IR only custom cell tag and call sign patches from FirstSpear. FirstSpear Infrared Reflective Cell Tag and Call Sign patches are velcro-backed for attachment to tactical gear and clothing. They are IFF devices that identify personnel under normal lighting conditions and glow brightly when viewed under night vision goggles and hit with infrared light. First Spear has developed a patented new process that bonds IR reflective material with regular fabric to greatly reduce the sheen associated with legacy IFF patches which helps provide a lower profile to operators and increases the camouflage properties of the patches because the surrounding fabric color can better match uniforms.

Military Mountain and Cold Weather Work Shop – Armor and Load Carriage

Thursday, February 21st, 2013

FirstSpear dominated the armor and load carrying discussion as Dave Kent discussed the various attributes of their Tubes and 6/12 Technologies. For guys who are having trouble wrapping their heads around 6/12, FirstSpear also has the new 6/9 attachment that is also PALS-compatible but is lighter and actually holds pouches closer to the platform than traditional MOLLE.

He also took the attendees back to the future by introducing them to the concept of purpose built panels for armor carriers. Because you can change out the front and rear panels of their carriers, you can integrate panels that are permanently configured for different loads. This helps reduce weight which is particularly desirable in mountain environments.

FirstSpear Media Range Day

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

FirstSpear, along with Renegade Armor, Wilcox, and Aimpoint, sponsored a media range day at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department firing range. Three ranges were set up, with the first two featuring rifles by H&K and LMT, and pistols by Nighthawk Custom and SIG Sauer. The third range featured something a bit more exotic: rifles by FERFRANS, who are known for their Delayed Sear Activation System. This system made the 7.5″ 5.56 SCW PDW very controllable when fired in full-auto. It’s also very likely this system was responsible for reducing the felt recoil of the 7.62 SOACR near 5.56 levels. Wilcox also had demonstrations of their breaching torch technology; seeing the torch used to melt through rebar as quickly as it did was impressive. Overall, it was a great media day that offered the chance to try out some truly fantastic firearms. And, I got to spend it with Tactical Fanboy who wrote this article from his perspective. BTW, the photo of him with the FERFRANS SOACR is a snapshot in time. There are no rounds in the gun and he has just been handed it by the RSO. Also, his finger isn’t on the trigger.
