ORWM – Mystery Ranch

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

This report on new items from Mystery Ranch Outdoor products, coming Fall 17. The military/tactical items will come next week at SHOT Show. Both of these are what I would consider commuter bags.

At 22 liters, the Rip Ruck is made from 420D Cordura in a mountain ruck style.  Look for a separate zippered pocket for a laptop next to the back along with a dual zipper main pocket and two smaller outer pockets which replicate the two-zipper styling.

The Slick is just that.  It’s a 23 liter pack made from ripstop nylon and features a dedicated, zippered, laptop compartment along with a main pocket with a half moon zippered opening.  On either side are slit pockets which will accept a water bottle.

AUSA – Team Wendy Transit Pack by Mystery Ranch

Monday, October 3rd, 2016

This is a sneak peek of a cool new helmet storage and transport bag from Team Wendy who partnered with Mystery Ranch.

The bag is operationally focused with stowable shoulder straps and PALS for those who want to attach it directly to a vest or other bag.

Inside are two modular zippered accessory pockets as well as a larger drawstring bag for NODs which can be nestled in the shell of the helmet for additional protection. The interior of the Transit Pack is Velcro loop which is not only soft against your kit but also allows the pouches to be attached wherever you want.

Look for the Team Wendy Transit Pack by Mystery Ranch at SHOT Show.

From Humble Beginnings : The Gleasons and Mystery Ranch

Wednesday, September 21st, 2016

Mystery Ranch has posted a really cool interview of founder Dana Gleason and his son and co-owner, D3. They each give their perspective on the brand and its stuff you aren’t going to hear unless you get to spend an afternoon at the Ranch.  Definitely worth a read.

ORSM – Mystery Ranch

Tuesday, August 9th, 2016

Mystery Ranch has a whole slew of new commercial packs for Spring 2017, and I like quite a few of them, but if I had to pick just one, it’s the Coulee 40 which is a 40 liter bag based on the tried-and-true Tri-Zip design. However, you may notice that they’ve added stretch panels to the outside to accept items you want to access quickly, or let dry while you walk.

My second favorite is the Scapegoat 25 panel loader. Like many of MR’s commercial line, it is offered in a couple of colors which are great for the tactical user.

The Hip Monkey is a waist pack design.

The Invader is an attaché-style bag.

Kletterwerks has a few cool items in there was well.

ORSM – Mystery Ranch Introduces Desolve Camo For Hunting Line

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016

This Metclaf Hunting Pack from MR features the new Guide Light frame which is 30% lighter than the NICE frame and is available now.

Starting Spring 2017, you’ll be able to get MR’s great hunting pack line in Desolve Camo which originated in New Zealand. Here, you can see the Bare variant. As you can see, it includes several different elements in the pattern. I’d say, they are going after OptiFade.

So far, only Hunter’s Element, a New Zealand brand, has announced clothing in the pattern.

MATBOCK MR Dry

Tuesday, May 10th, 2016

What do you get when you take a great idea from a couple of SEALs, add a load carriage solution from Mystery Ranch and then have Drift Dry waterproof it?

This bundle is the MATBOCK MR Dry. The idea was borne from over the beach operations where previous waterproof pack solutions proved bulky.

The guys at MATBOCK took a look at the issue Myster Ranch Tri-Zip 3-Day Pack and considered ways to make it more user friendly for the mission. Mystery Ranch agreed to the project and MATBOCK brought in Drift Dry to produce a waterproof overbag.

As you can see, MR made some slight modifications to their harness for use in the maritime environment.

The pack remains fully waterproof until you open the outerbag. It also incorporates an oral inflation tube. Inside, you can integrate the MR 3-Day pack or medic bag and the outer bag can be rolled out of the way for full access to the inner pack.
