Sneak Peek – Team Wendy / Wilcox Ind Powered Helmet

Friday, October 25th, 2013

photo 1

Team Wendy already incorporates a Wilcox Industries VAS shroud onto their helmets. Now, they’ve produced a test bed bump helmet that integrates the Wilcox powered helmet technology developed for their Mohawk helmet technology demonstrator.

photo 2

The helmet is wired internally for power with contacts in the VAS Shroud to support hot shoe NOD mounts. Additionally, as you can see from the photos, one rail is powered directly and on the opposite side, they’ve selected a powered Mil Std 1913 rail.

The battery pack attaches to the rear of the helmet and can be easily removed. Once again, these are not final, production articles but rather a test bed to demonstrate the capability.

Team Wendy Releases Two New Products

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013

Team Wendy has released the new REVOLVE™ liner and H-Style retention system. While the Exfil TLP was the big news during our SOFIC coverage of Team Wendy, they did initially display both of these new products there.

REVOLVE™ Liner

TW Revolve

The REVOLVE™ Helmet Liner is a 3-piece impact mitigating system designed to be a replacement liner for most ballistic shells. It utilizes an array of engineered polymer structures developed during the HEaDS UP program for Natick, along with a set of moisture wicking comfort pads to provide maximum protection, comfort, and stability. The small thermoplastic urethane (TPU) discs you see work like the crumple zones in your car’s bumper to help mitigate the energy of impact.

H-Style Retention System

TW H_Back

The newly redesigned H-back chinstrap weighs below 100g (3.5oz) including ballistic mounting hardware utilizing Team Wendy’s cam-lock sliders which allow for one handed adjustment and no-slip, positive-locking engagement. The asymmetric design keeps the buckle tucked smoothly along the jaw line while maintaining a snug, even feel around the chin-cup thanks to an Ultrasuede chin-cup and nape pad lining. Offered in Sizes Medium/Large and Extra Large in Black, Foliage Green and Coyote Brown.

Team Wendy EXFIL Bump Helmet in Safety Orange

Sunday, June 9th, 2013

TW Marops Exfil

What do you think of these EXFIL Bump Helmets in Orange by Team Wendy? It’s a great color for MAROPS use as well as other applications such as SAR. These aren’t the new EXFIL LTP for Lightweight Tactical Polymer. Notice they don’t have the stylized VAS Shroud found on the EXFIL LTP. Exfil LTP you ask? Well, you obviously didn’t read our story from SOFIC.

SOFIC – Team Wendy

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

It’s amazing how folks continue to use and modify their EXFIL Bump helmets that were just released just last year.

20130515-164413.jpg

To help them along, TW has introduced an add-on Velcro kit.

20130515-164634.jpg

But the big news is that Team Wendy has just unveiled a major new helmet system. The EXFIL LTP for Lightweight Tactical Polymer features an injection molded lightweight shell, a new rail design that will be the standard for all TW helmets in the future, and an integrated shroud with a machined aluminum insert from Wilcox Industries.

20130515-163357.jpg

Additionally, they are introducing a new liner called Revolve. Taking technology from the HEaDS UP program, these small discs compress during impact. Think of it as a bumper crumple zone but for your head.

20130515-163559.jpg

TW sets up arrays of these discs in three sections that Velcro into place in the helmet.

20130515-163722.jpg

The system still uses the Cam-fit Boa system and can be retrofit into most helmets. Although, I haven’t found one yet that won’t take the TW suspension. Alternatively, TW will be offering an H-style harness for those seeking something more traditional. Since they’ve introduced so many new options they’ve loaded a suspension selection guide on their site.

Look for Revolve available in June and the EXFIL TLP in late summer.
