DSEi – Wilcox Industries

Thursday, September 12th, 2013

The Weapon Video Display from Wilcox is a component of the DUES system Dynamic Universal Engagement System consisting of a Day Optic, a Camera, WVS, Thermal Sight (not shown) and mounting solution. You can easily switch between day and thermal inputs and it essentially turns your thermal sight into a reflex sight.

20130912-133425.jpg

Designed for use with crew served weapons, it allows you to remote your sights so you can engage targets even from under cover. Additionally, the WVS stabilizes the image even under full auto fire on a M2. The camera can be swung out of the way in the event you want to use the day optic directly.

Wilcox has been manufacturing weapon displays for 8 years and this product is a technology transition from a TSWG program. Over the years they have upgraded the device by improving the daytime use of the backlit screen and integrating multiple reticals. Additionally, there is a bore sight function that allows you to quickly slave the WVS to the actual weapon sight.

Wilcox Industries and Potomac River Group’s RAPTAR (Rapid Targeting and Ranging Module) is now available through PRG’s GSA contract, GS-07F-5489R. The RAPTAR is a combination IR Laser/IR Illuminator/Visible Red Laser/Laser Range Finder weapons mountable device developed from requirements by SOF and military snipers. It incorporates all of a shooter’s ranging and targeting devices into a single unit, saving real estate on the host weapon platform and reducing weight while requiring only one CR123 battery.

SOFIC – Team Wendy

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

It’s amazing how folks continue to use and modify their EXFIL Bump helmets that were just released just last year.

20130515-164413.jpg

To help them along, TW has introduced an add-on Velcro kit.

20130515-164634.jpg

But the big news is that Team Wendy has just unveiled a major new helmet system. The EXFIL LTP for Lightweight Tactical Polymer features an injection molded lightweight shell, a new rail design that will be the standard for all TW helmets in the future, and an integrated shroud with a machined aluminum insert from Wilcox Industries.

Additionally, they are introducing a new liner called Revolve. Taking technology from the HEaDS UP program, these small discs compress during impact. Think of it as a bumper crumple zone but for your head.

TW sets up arrays of these discs in three sections that Velcro into place in the helmet.

The system still uses the Cam-fit Boa system and can be retrofit into most helmets. Although, I haven’t found one yet that won’t take the TW suspension. Alternatively, TW will be offering an H-style harness for those seeking something more traditional. Since they’ve introduced so many new options they’ve loaded a suspension selection guide on their site.

Look for Revolve available in June and the EXFIL TLP in late summer.
