TEA Headsets Launches INVISIO V60

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012

The INVISIO V60 is an Advanced Tactical Quad-Com System which allows users to seamlessly connect and control all of their comms devices with one simple-to-use controller. Quad-Com capable means that, with the use of a dual-net radio, users can communicate across four separate channels.

Currently the market’s smallest Quad-Com capable tactical communication system, the V60 is smaller than many other controllers. Devices that can be integrated into the V60 include 2-way radios, dual-net radios, radio man-packs, vehicle/aircraft and watercraft ICS, mobile phones, tablets, PC’s and even user to user through the use of TEA’s new portable intercom system. Users can also control their devices remotely or from the rail of their rifle with the optional INVISIO M80 dual wireless push-to-talk.

One of the coolest things about the V60 is that it will work with virtually any headset, new or old through the use of adapters. It will work with Peltor and Sordin headsets as well as the INVISIO X5, a dual in-ear headset which provides user certified hearing protection, enhanced digital hearing and clear communications through a bone conduction microphone for speech. TEA also offers a custom molded version of this headset called the X6 as well as a special version for JTAC/Airborne applications. V60 is rated IP68 (submersible down to 20 meters) and compliant with MIL-STD810F standards.

Make sure you check out the V60 later this month at AUSA in booth #8155, where it will make its debut.

ETA Trauma Kit (INERT) from ITS Tactical

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012

ITS Tactical listened to the folks using their excellent ETA Trauma Kit and developed a training version. It is critical to train with your equipment but it’s expensive to expend trauma kit after trauma kit. The INERT version provides a low-cost option for regular training. They put some thought into this one.

20121016-140629.jpg

ITS provides a great description of the product –

The components you’ll find in the inert kit are all the same items you’re used to seeing in our kits, with the exception of the Combat Gauze Inert Moulage Trainer. This blue packaged Combat Gauze is for simulated training only and not for medical use. It’s the same z-folded Combat Gauze in our ETA Trauma Kits, but it lacks the hemostatic agent necessary to stop real bleeding. The inert Combat Gauze also features a resealable closure, so you can repack it and train with it again.

With these Inert ETA Trauma Kits, there also may be expired components included. It’s important that this kit is not used to “refill” another of our ETA Trauma Kits, as this inert kit was designed with the sole purpose being used in a dedicated training environment. Along with the bright blue tell-tale pack of inert combat gauze, we’ve also stamped our insert card in blue with “INERT.” Again, this kit is for training ONLY!

The reason we’ve chosen to include an inert version of every component from our ETA Trauma Kits, is to ensure you’re training with the identical items you’ll be using in a real life situation. In the event you have to use an ETA Trauma Kit, you don’t want it being the first time you’ve ever had exposure to the components. Train like you fight.

Notice they talked about the inert version of the combat gauze. This is what it looks like.

Here’s the Entire Contents List

QuikClot Combat Gauze LE Inert Moulage Trainer (1)
HALO Chest Seal – INERT (2)
MojoDart Decompression Needle – INERT (1)
Naso Airway Adj. 28fr w/ Surgilube – INERT (1)

Ace Bandage – INERT (1 – 4?)
Z-Pak Gauze – INERT (1)
Combat Casualty Card (1)

Contents List w/ TCCC Care Under Fire Instructions (1)

A you can see, its everything in their standard ETA but intended specifically for training. Now, there’s no reason to pull out a trauma kit and have to learn how to use when it’s needed most. Like they said, “Train Like You’ll Fight.” Amen.

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012

Team Wendy has released the new Cam-Fit Retention System as a stand alone product. Designed to fit any MICH style helmet with standard 4-point retention holes a USMC LWH compatible compatible version is coming soon.

20121016-172814.jpg

The Cam-Ft features the following highlights:
· Boa Closure System technology allowing easy, repeatable and secure tensioning
· Aircraft grade stainless steel lacing for superior durability
· Ultrasuede chincup
· Cam-lock sliders for easy, one-handed adjustment
· No Loose ends or hanging straps
· Compliant with the ACH and ECH Static Pull Strength Requirements

20121016-173154.jpg

The key to this chinstrap is the Boa fit system which you may recognize from your ski boots. Team Wendy has already successfully integrated it into their new EXFIL bump helmet. I have to tell you that I love it. It offers fine adjustment and tightened up enough that my 8 year old could wear the EXFIL so folks with smaller heads will have no problems with the Cam-Fit Retention System. You twist it clockwise to tighten and pull outward to release tension.

Available now in Black and Coyote. One size fits almost everyone.

MSR – Luxury Lite Mesh Cot

Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

Introduced during OR Summer Market, MSR’s Thermarest brand is offering the Luxury Lite Mesh Cot. I just tried this sample out during an industry get together courtesy of Open Range. It’s very cool. The longest component is 12″ and it can be broken down for carriage or stowage.

20121016-165913.jpg

As you can see, it gets you just off the ground but the design flexes to support your body. Definitely beats sleeping in the dirt.

20121016-170211.jpg

The mesh cover is lightweight and available in a variety of colors. Lengthwise, it is supported by 2 shock corded poles. It is suspended off of the ground via 12 circular nylon feet which accept aluminum poles that arch for tension to keep everything taught. It’s a real slick set up. What amazes me is how compact and light it is. It’s under 3 lbs complete. This is how big it is stowed.

The CORE Panel

Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

I asked Austere Provisions Company’s President, Michael Griffin to describe his latest creation and he shared this with us, “The CORE Panel is a concept I have been playing around with for quite a while after trying to find a good solution for a few problems. The first issue I was running into was that with all the latest and greatest lightweight and compact gear I could carry a tremendous amount of capability but I often had issues keeping things organized in both commercial and military style bags and packs. I was carrying a lot of the same items whether I was using a day pack or a messenger bag and when flying a lot of those items had to be checked. Assembling them all on the CORE Panel allowed me to organize and move items quickly and easily.”

He took the PALS modularity concept and developed the CORE Panel. It allows the user to set it up with small to medium general purpose or specialty pouches whether they be for commo gear, medical supplies, magazines, demo, signal gear or whatever else the user’s mission dictates and keep all that gear organized and easily retrieved. PALS was the perfect fit. There are already thousands of pouches out there and many users are finding themselves constantly reconfiguring their equipment. One day they are operating in an overt and it’s covert the next. The CORE Panel offers the user tremendous flexibility.

In addition to being able to mount most any MOLLE pouch, the CORE Panel has a sewn in grab handle and accessory loops on each side to allow attachment of FASTEX repair style buckles for a sling-style shoulder strap and waist band or to attach to the interior of vehicles or anywhere else the user can come up with.

The production pieces will be slightly different from the sample photos based on improvements developed during use. Word has it that Velocity Systems will be building these. Delivery times and pricing to follow soon.
