The S.H.O.V.E.L. or Semi-Horned Oblong Versatile Eating Ladle, is not just an ordinary titanium spork. It’s also has a serrated knife, bottle cap opener, and six feet of red paracord wrapped around its body. Well, all this, and it also happens to be open-source. The product page includes the data sheet and CAD files so, given the proper tools, you can make your own S.H.O.V.E.L. and even make improvements to the design.

MP01

Designed by MSG Grady Burrell (USA, Ret) and built by knife making legend Darrel Ralph of HTM Knives, the Master Proven MP01 is made from 154 CM steel with a 4.5 inch blade and an overall length of 9.25 inches. The textured handle features a hole at the rear that matches with the spur at the rear of the blade. This allows for an enclosed grip with the use of paracord or other material, increasing the retention capability of the knife. Available in ‘fixed blade’ and tanto styles, serrated or hone.

MP01 - 2

The sheath, developed by FirstSpear, uses their 6/9 Modular Pocket Technology. This makes the sheath lighter than a traditional MOLLE/PALS equivalent. Additionally, the sheath mounts closer and conforms tighter to the mounting platform due to the flexible nature of the attachment straps. The sheath is availabe in MultiCam.

MP01 - 3

Solder Systems daily readers can use code SSD223 to get the MP01 for the reduced price of $225, limit 3. Free shipping to CONUS and APOs, AK and HI add $10. To order, contact lacey@darrelralph.com.

Looks Like Fun With The Nerf – inteliSCOPE For Shooters – Indiegogo

Sunday, June 16th, 2013

The inteliSCOPE is an app for Android and iOS smartphones that turns the device into a tactical optic. It features multiple self-orienting reticles, 5x digital zoom, drop compensation, recording and playback options, built-in compass, GPS positioning, shot timer, and local prevailing winds.

Additionally, the smartphone can be attached to a 1913 picatinny rail using the inteliSCOPE Tactical Adapter System. It’s made from high strength composite-reinforced polymer with a ruggedized tactile rubber finish. It detaches via a quick-release toggle, can be adjusted to portrait or landscape orientation, and allows for the user to shoot around corners with no head exposure. A Nerf rail adapter also allows the user to use the inteliSCOPE on any of the N-strike Nerf blasters.
