The US Army’s Advanced Combat Rifle Program

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Every couple of decades the Army decides to look for a new service rifle. At the end of the 1980s, that search was called the Advanced Combat Rifle Program. Unfortunately, these programs never result in new weapons for the military but many of their concepts make it into commercial products. This Army film takes a look at the ACR.

Mission First Tactical To Debut Holster Line at SHOT Show 2017

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Developed by an MFT team of law enforcement, military and civilian end users, the new holster line offers an optimal fit, finish and performance.

Horsham, Pa. (December 2016) – Mission First Tactical (MFT), innovators and leaders in the design of advanced arms accessories, has expanded its American-made product line to include handgun holsters designed and built to maximize security, comfort and concealment with the most effective and confident feel when drawing or holstering a firearm.

“Mission First Tactical is renowned for blending unique designs with revolutionary materials and the latest production techniques to create unparalleled firearms accessories,” Gordon Edelman, President of Mission First Tactical commented. “The addition of a handgun holster line is a natural progression from our rifle/carbine accessories, since tactical operators also carry a backup handgun in addition to a rifle platform. We at MFT wanted to make certain that the holsters complimented our other accessories in design, material and functionality. Using the latest high-tech materials and production methods, our new holster line has all the fit, feel and performance one expects from MFT.”

The MFT team of experienced advisors and designers researched materials to develop a holster that would have capabilities unlike any other holster on the market. After evaluating multiple materials, MFT selected Boltaron for its uniform wall thickness, impact and scratch resistance, chemical and stretch/wear resistance. In addition, Boltaron is ten times more impact resistant than standard plastics, is fire retardant and is resistant to cracking in artic cold and deforming in extreme heat. The new material is only known to small custom shops, and is made using sophisticated laser capabilities to produce super clean edges with superior finishing techniques. Every holster undergoes hand assembly and finishing, resulting in a perfect combination of the latest technologies and hand-crafted attention to detail.

The new MFT holsters are proudly MADE IN THE USA with the Outside-the-Waistband (OWB) making its debut at SHOT Show 2017 this January in Las Vegas, Nevada. Visit MFT at booth #20214. Multiple models will be available. MSRP is $69.99.

Mike Noell, Founder and Former CEO of BLACKHAWK! Forms SENTRY Products Group

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Virginia Beach, Va. (December 21, 2016) – When you take four executives from an industry leader like BLACKHAWK! and give them a blank page, you can expect product advancement and rapid growth. Mike Noell, a former U.S. Navy SEAL and Founder / CEO of BLACKHAWK! has partnered with his Executive Team; Terry Naughton, Scott Ferros and Eric Yeates to form SENTRY Products Group, LLC.

Over the past 18 months, the group has acquired three industry brands; Scopecoat, Slideboot and Sentry Solutions. “Each of the acquisitions operated in a very defined space, and we knew we needed to develop the master brand to house and expand product lines as we had done in the past at BLACKHAWK!” stated Noell. “The creation of SENTRY Products Group with the tag line “Live To Protect” was something the team felt defined our mission well; the protection, storage and transport of Outdoor, Military, Law Enforcement Equipment.”

As Noell was evaluating additional acquisition options for the group, the SENTRY Executive team worked to move, consolidate and stabilize the brands by building the internal operating systems to support future growth. Distributors, dealers and OEM partners have recognized these changes, and the group has seen consistent growth in U.S. and international markets. As part of a multi-pronged growth plan, now is the time to utilize the team’s extensive manufacturing expertise.

“We have taken the opportunity to re-open the facility which housed the original Michael’s of Oregon (Uncle Mike’s) factory in Boise, Idaho, and have begun to rehire our former BLACKHAWK! crew,” commented Noell. “Our Boise facility will support all U.S.A. manufacturing, global sourcing and distribution. The Virginia Beach facility will be headquarters and all other functional departments. I am thrilled to be putting our team back together.”

“The mission now is to serve our industry and customers to the best of our ability and grow as quickly as possible so we can bring everyone back,” said Terry Naughton, President.

At the 2017 SHOT Show, to be held January 17-20 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Booth #614, SENTRY will highlight newly designed products in categories such as bags, packs, belts, scope covers, gun covers and gun-cleaning technology, along with the new branding of SENTRY.

“We wanted to start with the products our distribution and OEM partners requested first. These products link us back to previous developments with updated materials and manufacturing technologies. We are having a blast working together again. We are back! Our head is down, and we are focused. Additional products and category offerings will follow,” stated Eric Yeates, VP Product Development.

If you are interested in becoming a distributor, dealer, OEM customer, or would like to request an appointment to preview the new products at SHOT Show, please contact us at (877) 726-7328.

OSS Introduces Two New HELIX Suppressors

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Murray UT – Operators Suppressor Systems LLC (OSS) proudly introduces two additions to our HELIX line – the HX 556 and HX 762. Built with OSS’s patented Flow-Through™ technology, the HX 556 and HX 762 are integrated flush mount suppressors and are full-auto rated.

Shorter, lighter and quieter, the HX 556 is 6.8” long, weighs 20.8 ounces and delivers a 32-34 dB sound reduction. The HX 762 is 7.6″ long, weighs 22.3 ounces, and delivers a 30dB sound reduction. Both are constructed with stainless steel, cobalt and titanium, and mount with OSS’s STS-Muzzle Brake – a direct threading mount and fully functioning muzzle brake that self-tightens during fire.

“These new HELIX products are the culmination of a lot of hard work this year by OSS’s talented engineering, manufacturing and test teams,” said VP of Sales and Marketing Chris Estadt. “And we’re excited by the reaction we’ve had with distributors, dealers and customers.”

The NFA Review Channel just wrapped their test of the HX 556 and confirmed its superior performance vs. baffle suppressors. They were impressed by how the HX 556 reduced blowback, bolt velocity, and “gunk” in their gun, and they liked its “great tone” too. Watch here.

And recent testing of the HX 762 by Military Arms Channel confirmed the HX 762’s superior sound suppression performance as well. MAC Channel was also impressed by the recoil reduction, accuracy, and signature reduction tone of the HX 762 compared with popular baffle suppressors they’ve tested. Watch here.

MSRP for the HX 556 is $1385. For the HX 762 it is $1495.

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

With changing mounts as simple as removing and replacing a couple of screws, G-Code offers a lot of versatility. I’m surprised at how many they offer. Additionally, they are adaptable to many other brands of holsters and pouches.

Legislation Would Remove Concealed Carry Restrictions for Law-Abiding Citizens Using Automatic Knives for Professional and Recreational Uses

December 19, 2016 – Cody, WY – The American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI) today announced the prefiling of Virginia HB 1432 by Delegate Lee Ware. HB 1432 will reform current state laws to allow for the concealed carry of an automatic knife when the knife is carried for the purpose of engaging in a lawful profession or recreational activity when the performance of such task is aided by use of an automatic knife. HB 1432 also removes automatic knives (also referred to as switchblades) from the list of weapons the selling, bartering, giving, or furnishing of which is a Class 4 misdemeanor. The legislation has been referred to the House Committee on Courts of Justice, and will likely be heard before the Committee in the beginning of 2017.

AKTI is a non-profit 501(c)6 organization that represents all segments of the knife industry and knife users, promoting reasonable and responsible knife legislation and enforcement. We believe that law-abiding citizens should be able to carry their essential and valuable tools without the fear of arbitrary, inconsistent and ineffective government restrictions.

“We are extremely pleased to see HB 1432 pre-filed, and look forward to the bill passing the General Assembly in 2017,” said AKTI’s Executive Director, Jan Billeb. “We have worked closely with Delegate Ware on this bill, and are thankful for his leadership on the issue. Delegate Ware is a true champion of responsible knife owners in the Commonwealth of Virginia.”

“Ensuring that the Code of Virginia while providing for the safety of the public does not impinge on the rights–and needs–of law-abiding citizens is one of the most important obligations entrusted to a member of the General Assembly. I am pleased to be patron of House Bill 1432, I am grateful for the indispensable assistance in preparing it of AKTI, and I look forward to advocating for passage of the bill during the upcoming 2017 General Assembly.” [Delegate Lee Ware (R-65)]

This and other pro-knife legislative efforts can be followed on the American Knife & Tool Institute’s website www.AKTI.org.
