Propper Partners with HAVA

Monday, March 12th, 2018

St. Charles, MO — Propper International is proud to announce a new partnership with Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA), a veteran support organization conceived and organized in 2007 to help the healing and re-integration of disabled veterans and injured active military back into normal American life through participation in outdoor events.

“When HAVA described their mission and told us their need, it was an easy decision to support this great organization,” said John Negrau, VP of Marketing and eCommerce for Propper. “We’ve been providing uniforms and other gear to the military since 1967. Supporting our brave fighting men and women after their service ends makes sense as well.”

One important facet of HAVA’s mission is the “Learn to Shoot Again” (LTSA) program where veterans who have significant or debilitating injuries can train to regain some of the combat skills learned during their time in service. As part of Propper’s sponsorship, LTSA instructor staff – many of them wounded veterans – received new uniforms and gear to assist in continuing the organization’s mission of training disabled combat veterans reintegrate into civilian life.

“This program is a huge lift for our wounded veterans coming back from their tours,” said Learn to Shoot Again Director Rick Cicero, himself a combat veteran who was injured in Afghanistan. “Regaining skills they thought they had lost forever is paramount to helping them rebuild their self-confidence. Propper’s assistance in this endeavor is much appreciated!”

Crye Precision Announces Price Adjustments

Monday, March 12th, 2018

Late last week, Crye Precision announced new pricing for most of their offerings after conducting an analysis of all of their products. The truth of the matter is that Crye hasn’t increased pricing in years, even though labor, material, and shipping costs have increased on a yearly basis. Conversely, improvements in manufacturing processes for both materials and the assembly of finished goods will result in price reductions for several items. These changes will take effect on 15 March, 2018, so if you want to take advantage of legacy pricing, you’ve still got a few days. For the gear which will be expensive, wait a few days to order. SURROUND product technology delivers the first GORE-TEX police duty footwear with 360° breathability

Monday, March 12th, 2018

Nuremberg, March 9, 2018 With its GORE-TEX® SURROUND® product technology W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore) has paved the way for the production of a new class of police duty footwear. This footwear is the first of its kind to offer 360° breathability in addition to durable waterproofness. Moisture and warmth produced by the foot are not only conducted out of the shoe via the upper, but also via the sole. So, police officers’ feet stay dry and comfortable even at higher temperatures or during physically strenuous activities.

Gore’s footwear partners can now supply police duty footwear featuring the GORE-TEX® SURROUND® product technology and complying with the requirements of EN ISO 20347:2012 for occupational shoes. This footwear is characterised by a new class of climate comfort, extensive protective features, a light weight and an attractive design. In this regard it lives up to the increased expectations of police officers whose everyday, all-day work takes them indoors and outdoors, where they need to be able to rely on dependable and comfortable footwear across a wide range of activities and weather conditions. This makes this footwear the ideal solution for police officers on regular and patrol duty, as well as for policing tasks in urban areas.

Increased overall breathability? The GORE-TEX® SURROUND® product technology a patented footwear technology that is already well established in the mountain sports and casual sectors means that police duty footwear can now also move moisture and warmth away from all-around the foot, not only via the upper, but also via the sole. As about one third of the sweat produced by the human foot is produced on the sole of the foot, this offers a considerable advantage over the police duty footwear that was typically worn in the past and was not breathable under the sole of the foot. The special structure of the GORE-TEX® SURROUND® sole creates a significantly larger area through which moisture can be moved away from the foot, increasing the overall breathability of the safety shoe. Moisture and warmth produced by the foot can now also escape from the bottom of the shoe. Via a special GORE-TEX® laminate in the sole area, they are directed into a ventilation grid from where they are conducted out of the shoe through side openings in the sole.

Tests conducted in the climate chamber have revealed that during periods of activity the relative humidity of the skin on the foot is lower and during periods of rest the speed at which moisture is moved away from the skin is significantly higher. Shoe styles engineered with GORE-TEX® SURROUND® product technology offer up to 25% more breathability than GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort footwear.

Reliable protection? The durable waterproofness of the police uniform footwear is ensured by special GORE-TEX® lining laminates that are integrated into the upper and sole of the shoe, surrounding the foot on all sides. They provide protection against exposure to water and other liquids while simultaneously preventing the penetration of commonly occurring chemicals, including diesel, AFFF fire-fighting foam (3%), sulphuric acid (37%) and caustic soda (30%), in accordance with ISO 13994/ ASTM F 903, method C1.

GORE-TEX® SURROUND® Tactical Footwear is certified in accordance with EN ISO 20347:2012 for occupational footwear and fully complies with safety legislation without restricting climate comfort in any way. The GORE-TEX® SURROUND® product technology allows for flexibility in the structure of the sole: footwear partners can choose whether they attach the sole to the upper using an injection moulded or cemented construction.

First styles on show at IWA 2018?At IWA 2018 in Nuremberg, Gore and Gore footwear partners AKU (I), CRISPI (I), FAL (ES) and LOWA (D) are showcasing the first styles within the framework of this new GORE-TEX® police uniform footwear concept.

Fabrics Division?Forty years ago the Fabrics Division of W. L. Gore & Associates revolutionised the outdoor apparel industry with its waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® products. Today it is still a leading innovator in the field of functional garments. Products with Gore functional fabrics offer comfort and protection, allowing their wearers to set themselves more ambitious goals and experience more: both in adverse conditions and in everyday use. Whether they are hiking in pouring rain, on a military manoeuvre or attending a fire fighting incident Gore knows the needs of its wearers and the sectors in which they are active. This helps ensure that the company develops products with features that make god practical sense. www.gore-tex.com; www.gore-workwear.com

MATBOCK Monday || The Sheath

The first patented retractable lanyard riggers belt has just been released by MATBOCK.  It incorporates a 4000 lbs Kevlar lanyard with Dyneema stitching at the load point into your normal riggers belt.  The operator can simply pull on the 2 stage carabiner to extend the lanyard and hook into the helicopter or hoist system.  After detaching, the lanyard automatically retracts back into the belt.  Instead of having to stuff the lanyard into a pocket or have a loop near his/her hip as a snag hazard, the operator’s lanyard is tucked away until needed again.  Furthermore, the Kevlar lanyard is spliced at both ends and the Dyneema stitching at the hot point prevents decay from salt water, possibly compromising the safety of the operator during an emergency situation.  This initial version has a fixed length 20-inch lanyard to be at arm’s length for most soldiers.

MATBOCK expects to release an adjustable length lanyard with an emergency release system in the next month to comply with SOCOM requirements.

Bushnell Launches New Ballistics Calculator App

Sunday, March 11th, 2018

img_6988.jpgOVERLAND PARK, Kansas – March 9, 2018 – Bushnell, an industry leader in high-performance sport optics, announces the release of a new Bushnell Ballistics App powered by the proven and powerful Applied Ballistics Ultralite Engine.

The new Bushnell Ballistics App is a companion app to use with Bushnell riflescopes to calculate firing solutions for ammunition and rifle combinations. The app allows users to use current atmospheric data and AB Laboratory bullet data to calculate the hold-overs needed to make precise shooting solutions.

“The new Bushnell Ballistics App is powered by the Applied Ballistics Ultralite engine, the most trusted ballistics data-cruncher in the industry,” said Bushnell Marketing Manager Matt Rice. “With a clean and user-friendly interface, this app allows users to easily build and modify gun profiles and build range cards to calculate firing solutions based on their specific scope and ammunition choices. All of our Bushnell scopes and reticles have been pre-loaded, giving users simple ballistic solutions anywhere they go.”

The free app works on both Android and iOS operating systems, and is available on Google Play and the App Store. It is optimized for Bushnell riflescopes and reticles, but is compatible with all optics. Once downloaded, the app functions off the grid, with no cell service required.

The app features AB Connect, which gives users a live library of G1/G7 data as well as the Applied Ballistics Bullet Library with more than 740 pre-loaded bullets. The Bushnell scope library features more than 150 scopes and 30 reticle options. Gun profile management provides up to five saved profiles with reticle-based firing solutions. Plus, multiple target engagement saves up to five targets. Atmospheric data can be updated manually or from the internet when connected. Angle range compensation is also calculated. Range cards can be shared or printed using the Email Range Card Function.

“The new Bushnell Ballistic App puts the power of long-range, first-shot accuracy into the hands of any shooter,” Rice said. “Like all of our products, it was designed to perform in any condition and to offer our consumers true value, with features that far exceed the price—which, in this case, is free!”

To download the app, simply go to Google Play or the App Store and search “Bushnell Ballistics” to get started.
