SHOT Show 19 – Hill People Gear

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019

Hill People Gear has introduced a proprietary color for their gear. Elk, as it is known, will be their flagship color in the future. Here you can see a Tarahumara in Elk.

Scot Hill explained that they wanted to stick with an earth tone, but wanted to get away from standard military colors. While they initially favored Khaki, an informal survey found that it wasn’t popular. Instead, they developed their own color.

Eventually, all HPG packs and accessories will be in Elk. Clothing will come in time, depending on fabric availability.

SHOT Show 19 – Crye Precision

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019

As in past years, we begin our coverage with Crye Precision. Pursuant to their policy of not displaying a product until it is ready for production, there isn’t much new in the Booth. However, G4 clothing, including hot weather variants are front and center.

G4 incorporates new designs and fabrics.

On the load carriage front, Crye unveiled the Airlite Convertible Chest Rig.

It can be worn with its own harness or mounted to the Airlite SPC.

Additionally, they are displaying the new Airlite Configurable Radio Pouch.

The older model only accepted the AN/PRC-148 while the new version accepts the AN/PRC-148, 152 or two M4 magazines.

Here it is mounted to the Airlite Structural Plate Carrier.

Maxim Defense MMG Suppressor

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019

Maxim Defense has been working on new suppressors at their facility in Idaho under the tutelage of Director of R&D Jake Kunsky, and has just begun releasing them in time for SHOT Show.

This model was specifically designed for use with FN 240 series machine guns. It features their MonoKore design and Patent Pending Kilo-Taper lock mounting technology. This puts the taper on the Suppressor rather than requiring a proprietary, tapered barrel.

The Simple 2-piece Design is made from 17-4 steel and adds 11” to the muzzle. It is a direct thread mount with 25/32×24 thread pitch.

While actual performance is based on caliber, weapon configuration, and atmospheric conditions, this video gives you an idea of how it performs in the wild.
