TYR Group – Irregular Warfare (IW) 101: Resistance and Insurgency – June 1-5, 2019

Tuesday, March 5th, 2019

TYR Group is well known for training in tracking. Founder John Hurth is a retired Special Forces NCO who thought it would be a good idea to offer a training course in the fundamentals of irregular warfare for those who haven’t been exposed to this concept in the past. With so much of this going on across the world, I think he’s on to something.

Irregular Warfare (IW) 101: Resistance and Insurgency isn’t a hands on course but rather presented from an academic point of view, explaining the chart above and how the concepts apply to historical and current events.

Subjects include:

• Introduction to Irregular Warfare

• Underlying causes of resistance movements

• Organization and activities of the resistance (the Underground, Auxiliary, Guerrilla Force)

• Clandestine and Covert behavior

• Evolutionary Dynamics

• Resistance Leadership

• Influences on motivation and behavior

• Ideology, Group Dynamics and Radicalization

• Psychological Risk Factors

• Underground Psychological Operations: Propaganda and Agitation

• Passive Resistance

• Active Resistance

• Subversion and manipulation of crowds

• Paramilitary Operations

• Resistance recruitment, training, and financial support

This course in Oregon is conveniently broken down into two modules. Students may take the first module taught on day one and two, or take full advantage of completing the entire five-day IW 101 course.

The course is ITAR Restricted.

UK Firm Supplies Slash Resistant Clothing To Protect Public Facing Professionals From Knives

Monday, March 4th, 2019

The company’s key objective is to protect police, prison and security officers, and to reduce the number of knife and workplace violence related injuries.

UK based PPSS Group has recently seen record sales for their SlashPRO® Slash Resistant Clothing brand, offering tested, certified and reliable levels of cut resistance.

Poverty and social exclusion, religious and political extremism, drugs, social media as well as serious mental illnesses have all been blamed for the global rise of knife crime.

The news of individuals grabbing a kitchen knife and causing serious harm and injury to others has become a rather normal daily occurrence today.

Knives have recently also become the weapon of choice for many so called “lone-wolf” attackers due to the low planning required to conduct a knife attack whether against an individual or mass group.

Homeland security agencies, such as police, prison, border control, immigration and customs units, as well as private security companies from around the world have now turned to the firm to purchase garments protecting their officers from such weapon.

SlashPRO® Slash Resistant Clothing is made from 100% Cut-Tex® PRO, a highly acclaimed, cut resistant fabric made in Great Britain. According to the manufacturer the fabric is comfortable to wear, skin friendly and Latex free.

The company’s CEO, Robert Kaiser said: “Slashing dangers are now relatively frequent for these workers and it is has become a realistic and daily occupational risk. The cutting of an artery or blood vessel can cause rapid blood loss, shock and even fatality, and it is our mission to protect professionals at risk, with a range of easy-to-wear, slash resistant clothing.”

“There are men and women out there who have made a professional choice in their lives to protect other human beings, facilities, venues, events and infrastructure from the bad guys”

“We at PPSS Group genuinely believe those men and women have the moral and legal right to be equipped appropriately, and slash resistant clothing is appropriate and ultimately can save valuable lives”.

SlashPRO® Slash Resistant Clothing can purchased directly through the company’s online shop: www.slash-pro.com

USSOCOM Innovation Foundry Summit Seeks Predictions Of Future Technologies

Monday, March 4th, 2019

The 2019 USSOCOM Innovation Foundry Summit is soliciting your ideas about what lies ahead for the world 10 years from now, and what challenges or opportunities will be presented to Special Operations Forces (SOF). We are interested in the impacts of technological innovation in the civilian society within the Texas Technology Ecosystem. What new or evolved technology will have the greatest impact, either as a challenge or as an opportunity, for SOF in 2029? How is daily life for humans around the world going to differ from today? What innovations will industry invent, which will shape society 10 years from now? How will technologies become disruptive by themselves or converged with other technologies? What are the Diplomatic, Information, Military and Economic (DIME) actions and their Political, Military, Economic, Social, Information, and Infrastructure (PMESII) effects created by this technological evolution? We want to know how you see the world in 2029 and the critical impacts it might pose for SOF.

To enter, submit a short summary paper (American Psychological Association (APA) Format, up to 2-5 pages total) describing any technology, how it will be proliferated and the basis for your position. The technology can be an advancement of an existing technology that exists today or a new technology that does not exist today. You should show how this technology will affect the world 10 years from now and what challenges and or opportunities it might present for Special Operation Forces at that time. Your solutions should at a minimum answer the following questions (not necessarily in order):

1 What technology lies ahead for the world 10 years from now, and what challenges or opportunities will be presented to SOF.

2 What are the impacts of technological innovation in the civilian society around the globe?

3 What new or evolved technology will have the greatest impact, either as a challenge and/or as an opportunity, for SOF in 2029?

4 How is daily life for humans around the world going to differ from today?

5 What innovations will industry invent, that will shape society l 0 years from now?

6 How will technologies become disruptive by themselves or converged with other technologies?

7 What are the PMESII effects created by this technological evolution?

8 How do you see the world in 2029 and the critical impacts it might pose for SOF?

Things to avoid:

1 The Seeker is not looking for a review article on the subject of futuristic predictions. Your submission needs to be about a possible technology based on facts and current research and not a summary of all speculations that exist.

2 The Seeker is not interested in pointing towards 3rd party ideas. They want your thoughts and not to just point out someone else’s. You can use others as references, but the bulk should be your own thoughts.

They are doing this via a prize challenge which is a conceptualized essay-written event, created by a “Seeker”, United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), where participants, the “Solvers”, provide an answer or solution to a Prize Challenge question or concept ideation. Solvers, will attempt to solve a future task and/or a current physical/mechanical/conceptual limitation and provide a 3-5 page essay, based off of preset evaluation guidelines and their research, to answer the Prize Challenge question. Essays will be ranked against each other and inputted into an Order of Merit (OML) placement. USSOCOM will review and analyze the essays and award set rewards, once the event is closed.

Submissions to this Challenge must be received by 11:59 PM (US Eastern Time) on Mar 8, 2019. Late submissions will not be considered.

New SureFire Fury Dual Fuel With IntelliBeam

Monday, March 4th, 2019

Fountain Valley, CA—SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest — and most innovative —illumination tools and tactical products, is proud to announce the launch of the Fury IntelliBeam®.

The latest addition to the Fury family, the Fury IntelliBeam joins the single-output Fury Tactical, providing a versatile, dual-fuel, pocket-sized searchlight that can be powered by either two 123A lithium batteries or a single 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable battery. SureFire’s proprietary IntelliBeam technology utilizes an intelligent sensor and microprocessor-based system to continuously evaluate and seamlessly regulate light output based on your surroundings. The Fury IntelliBeam smoothly dials the output up or down to the optimal setting — anywhere from 15 to 1,500 lumens — based on the amount of ambient light reflecting back to its sensor. In addition to the convenience of not having to cycle through multiple output settings, this cutting-edge technology also helps preserve dark-adapted vision and extend battery life. If you’re illuminating a distant object in an open field, you’ll get all 1,500 lumens. Whether you’re prepping gear or reading something up close, the Fury IntelliBeam always maintains the appropriate level of output for the task at hand. Its precision-machined reflector features a micro-textured reflective coating that creates a far-reaching beam with a bright central area and enough surround light for ideal situational awareness. The Fury IntelliBeam’s high-strength knurled aerospace aluminum body and tailcap are Mil-Spec hard anodized for extreme resistance to abrasion and corrosion while providing a secure grip.

UF PRO to Spotlight Super-Effective Camo Patterns, Next-Gen BDU, Cool New Colour at 2019 Enforce Tac and IWA

Monday, March 4th, 2019

TRZIN, SLOVENIA (4th March 2019) — UF PRO® today announced plans to exhibit its newest military-focused product lineup at both the Enforce Tac and IWA Outdoor Classics trade shows in Germany during the month of March.

Spotlighted at both events will be an innovative camouflage pattern that sows confusion in the subconscious mind by wildly scrambling the brain’s ability to correctly interpret what the eyes see, said the maker of advanced-technology jackets, shirts, pants, hats, caps, and accessories for military and law-enforcement units.

Prym1 Striker BDU

UF PRO® said it also will premier at the two shows a next-generation combat uniform. The new BDU is part of the company’s popular Striker range of tactical wear. It offers a super-rugged design, reconfigurable special pockets, and exceptionally easy field-repair capability, the company reported.

Additionally, UF PRO® indicated it intends to introduce the Hunter Gen.2 FZ Jacket, an upgraded version of its acclaimed light-shelled Hunter FZ jacket for damp and cold spring days. The Hunter Gen.2 FZ Jacket features reinforced sides, extra Velcro® covers on the upper arms, an improved hem design, the company said.

Steel Grey Striker BDU

Further, UF PRO® promised to trot out Steel Grey, a new colour option for a select range of the company’s garments.

Phantom LEAF Striker BDU

Meanwhile, attendees of Enforce Tac will get a glimpse of what a BDU from UF PRO®’s current catalogue looks like when decked out in the highly flexible PHANTOMLEAF camouflage pattern. PHANTOMLEAF is an algorithmically designed, auto-adaptive camouflage pattern that can be modularly combined to produce a total camouflage system suited to virtually any environment or condition. The company cautioned that only government organizations can purchase this pattern, available on demand, from UF PRO®.

Another camouflage pattern set for viewing is PRYM1, which will only be shown to UF PRO® booth visitors at IWA. The company said it will demonstrate using a currently available UF PRO® BDU how PRYM1’s tiny, differently shaped dots of various pure colours fragment visible light to create a blending effect similar to that which enables wildlife predators—leopards, for example—to go totally unnoticed by their quarry.

CONCAMO Striker BDU

The camouflage pattern UF PRO® will exhibit at both Enforce Tac and IWA is called CONCAMO. Developed in Germany, CONCAMO is short for “confusion camouflage”—a name that reflects the pattern’s ability to trick observers at the subconscious level, said Armin Wagner, head of product development for UF PRO®.

“The pattern features eight colours blended through various elements and shadings to produce more than 60 layers of perceivable depth,” Wagner explained. “We’re very excited to be able to offer CONCAMO. It’s an incredibly effective concealment system that works beautifully in a spectrum of environments—forests, grasslands, deserts, snow country, even urban areas.”

Wagner indicated that the Striker Combat Uniform in CONCAMO can already be acquired on the company’s website and selected UF PRO distribution partners.

The Enforce Tac show is set for 6-7 March at the exhibition centre in Nuremberg.

The UF PRO® booth will be located in hall 12 at booth 418.

“Enforce Tac is where police, security officials, and members of the military from across Europe and beyond gather to see what’s new and exciting in the way of products and ideas to help them do their jobs more successfully and safely,” said Wagner. “This is an event we are extremely pleased to be part of and we look forward to meeting lots of old friends there as well as making many new ones.”

The IWA Outdoor Classics show follows right on the heels of Enforce Tac. IWA starts 8 March and continues for the next three days. It, too, takes place at the Nuremberg exhibition centre.

The UF PRO® booth will be located in hall 9, stand 301.

“IWA is a major trade fair where vendors display products for hunting, sport shooting, self-defense, camping, and other outdoor recreational activities,” Wagner said. “This event attracts civilians, but it also typically draws huge crowds of military and law-enforcement personnel. We’re honored to be exhibiting there again this year.”
