Wednesday, September 28th, 2022Over the next several weeks we are going to share examples of posters which were presented during the recent Future Force Capabilities Conference presented by the National Defense Industrial Association in Austin, Texas. I’ll let them speak for themselves.
This is the first example which depicts a Rapid Deploying Shoulder Support Speed Bar for Spade Gripped Automatic Weapons. In this case, I’ve used it in conjunction with a Dillon Aero M134. It made it a snap to get right on target. Contact info is on the poster.
Persistent Modernization Underpins Army’s Future Force Development

AUSTIN, Texas – “Our Soldiers, with our systems, must get accustomed to being constantly modernized,” said Lt. Gen. Thomas H. Todd III, Deputy Commanding General for Acquisition and Systems and Chief Innovation Officer at U.S. Army Futures Command (AFC).
Todd spoke about the importance of persistent modernization – which is intentionally designed to take place “now and often” – to a full audience of defense industry experts and innovators on Wednesday as part of the 2022 NDIA Future Force Capabilities Conference and Exhibition in Austin.
The event, hosted by the National Defense Industrial Association, provided participants an opportunity to learn about new developments in future-focused defense capabilities while also engaging with fellow defense professionals.
Todd’s keynote address highlighted the Army’s work to increase speed, range and convergence on the future battlefield, including by expertly harnessing and incorporating rapidly evolving warfighting technologies.
“We love to get after what’s next – constantly,” Todd said.
AFC, headquartered in Austin, surveys, develops and validates integrated concepts, models, simulations and technologies in order to steer future Army investments and ideas, Todd explained.
The command additionally serves as “lead trail boss” for multiple signature modernization efforts, furthering achievements through research, analysis and synchronization conducted by its Futures and Concepts Center, Combat Capabilities Development Command and Cross-Functional Teams, among other organizations.
“We are the operational architect,” Todd said, noting AFC coordinates closely with other Army commands and with the Office of the United States Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology and other partners to advance Army tools and systems.
Underpinning these activities, Army Futures Command leverages artificial intelligence, autonomy, sensors, robotics, synthetic biology, materials by design, additive manufacturing and other nascent technologies.
Exploration of human-machine teaming, which enables operational advantages on the ground and in the air by deliberately pairing human adaptability and intuition with machine speed and precision, is also proving integral to Army modernization.
“Let humans be good at what humans are good at; let robots be good at what robots are good at,” Todd asserted.
Meeting future warfighting demands, including the rigors of Multi-Domain Operations and the necessity of Joint interoperability, requires the active participation of industry, which is why events such as the NDIA-hosted conference function as productive platforms for information sharing and idea generation.
“We can no longer afford to be episodic; we have to be persistent,” Todd reiterated to audience members.
“Without you, we can’t achieve this.”

McQ Inc Awarded AFWERX SBIR Phase II Contract

FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Sept. 20, 2022 — On August 5, 2022, Fredericksburg, VA based McQ Inc announced that it has been awarded an AFWERX SBIR Phase II contract to develop a Military version of its McQ CONNECT® Iridium Certus® 100 satellite terminal. The new McQ CONNECT®MIL will address problems faced by the Air Force and other military organizations in rapid paced global missions against hostile adversaries. It will provide new mission capabilities that support Multi Domain Operations from any spot on the globe.
A quickly deployed tactical unit, the McQ CONNECT®MIL will be integrated with several advanced warfare technologies that expand the Air Force’s ability to understand adversarial activities and immediately impede hostile threatening activities. Mehler Vario System and Lindnerhof-Taktik, Both Companies of Mehler Vario System Group, to Exhibit Jointly at Future Forces 2022
Tuesday, September 27th, 2022FULDA, GERMANY (26 Sept. 2022) – Mehler Vario System Group today announced that it will exhibit at the Future Forces 2022 international conference to be held 19-21 Oct. in Prague, Czech Republic.
Together, two of the Group´s companies, Mehler Vario System GmbH and Lindnerhof-Taktik GmbH, will showcase their latest jointly developed innovation, the M.U.S.T. ballistic protection-and-carrying system, which has been specifically designed for demanding mission scenarios of police and military forces.
Both companies will exhibit at booth 326 in Hall 3 of the PVA Expo centre. This is located at Beranov 667 in the Let?any district of Prague (and adjacent Prague Let?any Airport).
Mehler Vario System Group is a globally active manufacturer of ballistic protection and carrying systems for police, military, and special forces. Lindnerhof-Taktik, subsidiary of the group, is a producer of high-quality tactical equipment systems.
This will be the first time the two companies jointly exhibit at a Future Forces conference to collaboratively demonstrate product developments that go beyond the standard offerings on the market. The novel system M.U.S.T. (short for Modular Universal Scalable Technology) is an interlocking modular system in which the individual protection and carrying components can be universally combined through intelligent interfaces so that they can be put together to meet the needs of almost any operational situation the user encounters.
“The special feature of the M.U.S.T. system is its almost infinitely variable scalability by the user for any application scenario due to its modular configuration,” said Thomas Homberg, CEO of Mehler Vario System Group. “The meticulous planning and sophisticated manufacturing processes that were involved have resulted in the system being both exceptionally lightweight and extremely durable.”
